- Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi has blasted American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp’s “pathetic” tantrum on stage.
In the clip shared by Jonesy and Amanda on Instagram, an audience member asked him to play music rather than preach about politics.
Mellencamp is seen responding to the criticism with foul language before threatening to “stop the show” and “go home”.
“Since you have been so wonderful I am going to cut about ten songs out of the show,” he said on stage.
Ms Panahi blasted the musician for acting like a “petulant toddler”.

A few years ago I threw out my John Mellencamp albums. I could have sold them but I didn’t want anyone else to hear them.
I pretty much did the same thing but it was Neil Young. I play guitar acoustic mostly. Name a Neil Young song and I could play it. I won't play his songs anymore. He's not that great of a guitarist so I'm probably better not playing Neil Young songs.

I was a John Mellencamp fan back in the 1980s. I loved his music and bought 3 or 4 of his albums. Walking of the stage is no big surprise because during the '80s he was on a morning TV news and talk show. The hostess of the show was interviewing John, and she went off topic and off script asking him questions he didn't like. Instead of deftly dodging the questions and handling the interview with dignity, he pointed his finger in her face, raised his voice to her, unplugged the body mike, and stormed off the set. You could hear someone off camera shouting, "Sit down, John," but he kept on going. And it was a live TV show, so there was no editing.
He recently sang with Springsteen. Both are losers.
What you need to do is catch the next Kid Rock and Ted Nugent get together..

I was a big fan of Springsteen growing up and when he starting “railing” on the rich screwing over the poor I tuned him out. His tickets were super expensive and he has made hundreds of millions off singing about the poor and disenfranchised. Yet, the only people who could afford to see him were the rich.

So true. I was the head of a popular rock/country band in my youth, and for a time I was depraved as you say. We headlined many major events selling thousands of tickets, but when fans started using the term "worship" surrounding me and my songs, I quickly got out of the business. My former band mates still, more than a decade after, want me to return to the stage and revamp their sense of belonging. I just tell them to go ahead without me. They do at times, using the music I wrote for their own purposes, but I have no regrets. My relationship with the Lord, my family and neighbors is what's important to me.
I left a melloncamp show 30+ years ago because he thought everyone wanted to hear his politics. F that crybaby!

I grew up in the same small Indiana town as John Cougar's Melon Camp (inside joke). I've never personally met him but have many friends and acquaintances who either grew up with him, or worked with him/around him. They all thought him a self righteous presumptive s.o.b.. In fact, I never heard a decent word about him. Personally I always gave him the benefit of the doubt, not adhering much to hearsay. But when I saw he became infected with the TDS virus, and the stuff he was spewing about our 45th prez, I knew outright he was ill of heart and mind.
Idk, but personally I think he's doing the same as most of Hollywood's elite (you must know his daughter is one of the "Real Housewives" cast) and he's catering to the media establishment, for fear his legacy (and family) will be ruined if he doesn't.
