There are plenty of millennials that have quietly knuckled down and gotten to work trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations. Unfortunately baby boomers were drug addicts, alcoholics, baby killers, etc, so they shouldn't be surprised that the younger generations are the way they are.
I disagree completely, there are several of us labeled "millennials" who have grown up with good morals and a deep love for their country, many of us still enlist in the military, I think this targets those kids these days who's parents lack foundation to teach their children values, but again don't label us as one.

I'm 41 by the way. And left home at 18, worked very hard in a demanding but well paid job, saved, bought a house etc but I look at my Dads generation, 30k final salary pension.Bought his house for 35k, 35 year ago. Now worth 500k. Financially sorted for retirement. My final salary pension is stopped, they can't afford them anymore, I need to move and can't sell my house, due to brexit (which boomers voted for). Kids need to save 40k deposit in the Uk to get a house and often leave uni with 40k debt to go into a zero hour contract, part-time job on 8-10 pound per hour. These are facts, not opinion. Tell me which generation had it worse??

My 29 year old boyfriend goes out of his way to help the elderly... he shows them respect and thanks veterans for their service. From helping them to their car, opening an umbrella, giving a jump, giving a ride.. etc. Its great to see.
My son is 20, and he is very much a gentleman. Maybe it's because he's a southern boy raised in a Christian home with plenty of sweet older ladies in his life nudging him in the right direction, and his dad is a very good man. There are some good ones. But they get taken off the market quickly by wise women who recognize the diamonds in the rough early on. Both my kids found their significant sweethearts very early on.
That’s generally standard around here. It’s called be raised right. I am not perfect, but I am respectful to everyone and try to help when I can. Some folks might have rough edges, but will help an old lady change a tire. That’s good people. That’s who I want to be around. No matter a person’s... whatever, we need to take of each other.
My daughter is a hard worker working 12 hour shifts. She bought her first house at age 23. So there are a few millennials out there with good morals and work ethic. 😊

Your generation didn't have to receive any education beyond secondary school, you finished school, got a job in a factory and were able to use that income to buy a house, a car, raise 3 kids and often support a non-working spouse. That same factory job today pays enough to just about not live in poverty, our generation work our holes off to get masters degrees only to live paycheck to paycheck. You were born into an economy that values hard work, WE were born into an economy that only benefits sub-contractors and the 1%. The reality is that the traditional 9-5 DOES NOT WORK for millennials due to the economic situation that YOUR GENERATION has created for us. The reason we put value on having experiences is because we'll never be able to afford our own homes regardless. The same sense of life satisfaction boomers enjoyed is not available to us, so we seek satisfaction via other means.

I think a lot of the millennial laziness is Because their parents allowed them to be lazy. My kids are millennials and they didn't get a car before they got a job to pay for the purchase and insurance. (We went half on the purchase price up to 3000.00 so they could buy a safe car ). They bought their own phones and paid their portion of the Verizon bill. They all have good jobs now with no college debt. We had college funds for them but they were only 20,000 for each. They are in their 20's and have their own houses while many of their friends are still living OF mom and dad.

Part of the generational problem is that in the past the leading generation taught the following generation and in turn were taught by the following generation. Gen X is so small in comparison that the buffer between Baby Boomers and Millennials barely exist. It might be too great a distance to seperate. Gen X also learned (mostly due to the media and world events in their day) not to care as much about the opinions of others unless those opinions infringe on them directly. The apathy in others opinions doesnt exist in either Millennials or Baby Boomers. For example, a Baby Boomer might find offence in seeing a trans person walking around, a Millennial would be offended by the offence, Gen X wouldnt give a crap until someone started trying to convince them it was normal or started shoving pronouns at them. Thats when Gen X would push back and not gently. The gap is partly causing the problem. Too much has changed in too little time for the smaller generation to be able to be a buffer. If Millennials would learn from Baby Boomers and Baby Boomers would learn from Millennials things would be better. Would also be helpful if Gen X would quit being so apathetic to the issues today. The problem comes from all generations, not just one.

At 35, with a wife and 2 kids, 2 vehicles, a mortgage, 5 yrs military service, and a 15 yr aviation career, it disgusts me to be in the same category as these “kids” just because of my birth year. I will tell you exactly why millennials have a careless attitude. i was born in 1981. old millennial. a hell of a lot of our families were destroyed when we were kids. divorce and broken families starting getting much more common when millennials were little kids and teens. also there was a huge increase in drugs in the 80s and 90s. coke and weed. lots of boomer parents smoked cigarettes and drank alchohol and their kids found it in the home and used it. lots of millennial kids had too much free alone time at too young of age because either both parents worked or didnt have both parents. cost of living starting going up fast in the 90s and 2000s when millennials were just kids and teens. major economic crashes happened in the late 90s and late 00s. a time when millennials were just entering workforce. cost of housing skyrocketed in the mid 2000s. the internet came about in the mid 90s when millennial kids were kids and teens and of course it hooked them. video games became more and more popular and addicted. free internet porn is a huge one. this became rampant in the late 90s and of course teen millennnials were interested in free internet porn. mostly boys but surely girls too. lets not forget 9/11 and imagine what that does the mind of a teen or young adult millennial witnessing the horror of 9/11 makes the world seem an extremely evil place and depressing. how about the medical industry and all the different drugs they started pushing in the 2000s more and more drugs. lets see what else how about the music pushed on millennials in the 90s we had suicidal type music like depressing rock think curt kobain also we had ultra violent gangsta rap appear in the early 90s. oh how about the mass increase in fast food restaurants in the 90s and 2000s. millennials were overwhelmed since the 1990s and 2000s with just a crazy world. with so much going on and a lot of it negative. a choice a lot of millennials make is to shut down, shut off, bury head in sand. have a form of escape from the real world of which the real world becoming more and more overwhelmingly crazy in recent decades. another thing is the whole gender and sexuality thing. in the 80s and even mostly 90s it was taboo to be anything other than straight. but in the late 90s and early 2000s more and more it became accepted to be weird or having not normal sexuality or appearance. not to mention the internet porn got more and more weird and less straight since the early 2000s. what else. hmm. im sure theres more but um. thats all for now. i thought of something else more and more and more tv channels were appearing in the 1990s and 2000s and this hooked so many young people to be addicted to tv shows and movies. same kind be said about mass increase in video games in 90s and 2000s. There are plenty of millennials that have quietly knuckled down and gotten to work trying to repair the damage caused by policies and decisions made by the previous generations. Not easy either given their lack of stewardship, awful parenting decisions and advice. But here we are, being blamed for the failings of others.

And left home at 18, worked very hard in a demanding but well paid job, saved, bought a house etc but I look at my Dads generation, 30k final salary pension.Bought his house for 35k, 35 year ago. Now worth 500k. Financially sorted for retirement. My final salary pension is stopped, they can't afford them anymore, I need to move and can't sell my house, due to brexit (which boomers voted for). Kids need to save 40k deposit in the Uk to get a house and often leave uni with 40k debt to go into a zero hour contract, part-time job on 8-10 pound per hour. These are facts, not opinion. Tell me which generation had it worse??

My 29 year old boyfriend goes out of his way to help the elderly... he shows them respect and thanks veterans for their service. From helping them to their car, opening an umbrella, giving a jump, giving a ride.. etc. Its great to see.

My son is 20, and he is very much a gentleman. Maybe it's because he's a southern boy raised in a Christian home with plenty of sweet older ladies in his life nudging him in the right direction, and his dad is a very good man. There are some good ones. But they get taken off the market quickly by wise women who recognize the diamonds in the rough early on. Both my kids found their significant sweethearts very early on.
That’s generally standard around here. It’s called be raised right. I am not perfect, but I am respectful to everyone and try to help when I can. Some folks might have rough edges, but will help an old lady change a tire. That’s good people. That’s who I want to be around.

You were born into an economy that values hard work, WE were born into an economy that only benefits sub-contractors and the 1%. The reality is that the traditional 9-5 DOES NOT WORK for millennials due to the economic situation that YOUR GENERATION has created for us. The reason we put value on having experiences is because we'll never be able to afford our own homes regardless. The same sense of life satisfaction boomers enjoyed is not available to us, so we seek satisfaction via other means.

I think a lot of the millennial laziness is Because their parents allowed them to be lazy. My kids are millennials and they didn't get a car before they got a job to pay for the purchase and insurance. (We went half on the purchase price up to 3000.00 so they could buy a safe car ). They bought their own phones and paid their portion of the Verizon bill. They all have good jobs now with no college debt. We had college funds for them but they were only 20,000 for each. They are in their 20's and have their own houses while many of their friends are still living OF mom and dad.

Part of the generational problem is that in the past the leading generation taught the following generation and in turn were taught by the following generation. Gen X is so small in comparison that the buffer between Baby Boomers and Millennials barely exist. It might be too great a distance to seperate. Gen X also learned (mostly due to the media and world events in their day) not to care as much about the opinions of others unless those opinions infringe on them directly. The apathy in others opinions doesnt exist in either Millennials or Baby Boomers. For example, a Baby Boomer might find offence in seeing a trans person walking around, a Millennial would be offended by the offence, Gen X wouldnt give a crap until someone started trying to convince them it was normal or started shoving pronouns at them. Thats when Gen X would push back and not gently. The gap is partly causing the problem. Too much has changed in too little time for the smaller generation to be able to be a buffer.
If Millennials would learn from Baby Boomers and Baby Boomers would learn from Millennials things would be better. Would also be helpful if Gen X would quit being so apathetic to the issues today.
The problem comes from all generations, not just one.

At 35, with a wife and 2 kids, 2 vehicles, a mortgage, 5 yrs military service, and a 15 yr aviation career, it disgusts me to be in the same category as these “kids” just because of my birth year. Millenial to me is a mindest, not a birthyear.
I work with several 20 to 25-year-olds who are actually decent people that work hard and have a decent head on their shoulders. Its your attitude, work ethic, and the way you treat other people that should determine your true character, not the year you were born.
What about Gen Y? I think 80's babies are gen Y (90s kids) and millennials were born in the 90s (2000s kids) Then Gen Z are the children of Gen Y's and possibly the oldest of millennials. What comes next?

I will tell you exactly why millennials have a careless attitude. i was born in 1981. old millennial. a hell of a lot of our families were destroyed when we were kids. divorce and broken families starting getting much more common when millennials were little kids and teens. also there was a huge increase in drugs in the 80s and 90s. coke and weed. lots of boomer parents smoked cigarettes and drank alchohol and their kids found it in the home and used it. lots of millennial kids had too much free alone time at too young of age because either both parents worked or didnt have both parents. cost of living starting going up fast in the 90s and 2000s when millennials were just kids and teens. major economic crashes happened in the late 90s and late 00s. a time when millennials were just entering workforce. cost of housing skyrocketed in the mid 2000s. the internet came about in the mid 90s when millennial kids were kids and teens and of course it hooked them. video games became more and more popular and addicted. free internet porn is a huge one. this became rampant in the late 90s and of course teen millennnials were interested in free internet porn. mostly boys but surely girls too. lets not forget 9/11 and imagine what that does the mind of a teen or young adult millennial witnessing the horror of 9/11 makes the world seem an extremely evil place and depressing. how about the medical industry and all the different drugs they started pushing in the 2000s more and more drugs. lets see what else how about the music pushed on millennials in the 90s we had suicidal type music like depressing rock think curt kobain also we had ultra violent gangsta rap appear in the early 90s. oh how about the mass increase in fast food restaurants in the 90s and 2000s. millennials were overwhelmed since the 1990s and 2000s with just a crazy world. with so much going on and a lot of it negative. a choice a lot of millennials make is to shut down, shut off, bury head in sand. have a form of escape from the real world of which the real world becoming more and more overwhelmingly crazy in recent decades. another thing is the whole gender and sexuality thing. in the 80s and even mostly 90s it was taboo to be anything other than straight. but in the late 90s and early 2000s more and more it became accepted to be weird or having not normal sexuality or appearance. not to mention the internet porn got more and more weird and less straight since the early 2000s. what else. hmm. im sure theres more but um. thats all for now. i thought of something else more and more and more tv channels were appearing in the 1990s and 2000s and this hooked so many young people to be addicted to tv shows and movies. same kind be said about mass increase in video games in 90s and 2000s. A lot of millennials are depressed and have been for years or decades and a lot of em started being depressed at a young age. lets take me i became very depressed when i was 10 years old when my parents had a nasty divorce.
