What is with your obsessions with my two favorite birds, that i owned as pets just by chance? The bits with the African Grey in the background just make me jealous, love the video!
This is my favorite piece by ratatat. the clicks and pops remind me of weird noises we might here our brain make when we are happy. the weird gurgle voice is very odd and a little creepy but the darker side of me thinks its sexy as hell? Yep this song soothes my virgo brain with it's clean beats. I am a music enthusiast and one of my favorite things to do is break music down to see if I can tell which instrument is which. This song is like a huge beautiful puzzle for me. I want to know where these clicks and pops are from, they sound really familiar? I know I hear autoharp, which makes me very happy. Mandoline and caribbean styled piano. There is so much more to this though. Does anyone else break music down that they enjoy?
I love the lyrics: "Ding ding doon doon dunt da dunt da, ding ding doon doon dunt da ding ding." A lot of thought went into this! I can actually see the story of the birds in my mind, these guys are like, freakin' Shakespeare!
style. repetition of patterns. rythm. can you dig it? "No psychological knowledge is a mere mechanical echo of its object. It is rather, like knowledge of external nature, dependent upon the forms that the knowing mind brings to it, and in which it takes up the data." (Georg Simmel, 1906)
Pie A La Mode Well, most of the time I'm not one for music videos, but the low quality video loops and tessellated birds in this work of beauty are, just, strangely entertaining. I mean, this song was released on LP4 so you don't *have* to listen to it along side the music video. idk, maybe I'm just a weird dude.
Pie A La Mode Well, I can't say I know how to feel being compared to a parakeet, but it's good to know I've got something in common with someone-er-something. The song itself has grown on me and I keep finding myself with the song stuck in my head, but it's not the same without the video, so I guess you're right about that.
@familiafolks You just blew my mind with that analysis lol, and here I was thinking they just put random birds in the background to give us some trippy footage :P
I miss this band
Me too bro, me too
I used to teach a design class. I would put this on when the students needed to focus and be creative. It was good work music for them.
aaaandd thennnnnn
how did they get all those birds to move in synchronization
Welcome to the 21st century!

+Delu xe The bird's name was actually Fellini. Unfortunately he died in 2013. :( twitter.com/despotroast/status/316663812054994945
***** ok i admit it, i said a random name
There a touch of genius in there, I liked it. Better than 99.9% of low budget productions I've seen on here.
Just so groovy.
You’ve come a long way.
This song is like popping mental bubble-wrap that is coming in through the ears. It a very textured.
I love it.
Dude, that was one of the most creative, innovative vids I ever saw !!! You guys are gonna be HUGE some day !

This is such a hidden gem of early TH-cam. True pioneers
2010's weren't early youtube
@@Dr_Pickle considering TH-cam started in 2005, and it’s 2022. This video came out in 2010, making it “early TH-cam”…….
@@BREATHER_ Before the Thumbs up/down system is early youtube imo
@@Dr_Pickle That was like alpha/beta pre-youtube when they were changing things around all the time lol
This is probably the fucking coolest music video everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Things vfx artists have to endure:

These guys are under-rated...It's not wonder I'm hearing them for the first time now...

Man, I love this song. Pleased to see the video is trippy as hell. :D
Birds grooving to the music, the music itself, and the fact Beethoven it wearing bling makes me conclude that... no they aren't on drugs.
50 shades of badass!

"No psychological knowledge is a mere mechanical echo of its object. It is rather, like knowledge of external nature, dependent upon the forms that the knowing mind brings to it, and in which it takes up the data." (Georg Simmel, 1906)
Moooooooom Ratatat got into the filters again, and made a music video with them.
great
You’ve come a long way.
Honestly, I don't think I would like this song without this goofy yet hypnotic music video to catch my interest.
TheTaleOfSirRobin "I don't think I'd like this song without the aspects vital to making this song what it is" Lol you goober.

My parakeet likes this song because of the parakeets in the video. You remind me of her!
Pie A La Mode Well, I can't say I know how to feel being compared to a parakeet, but it's good to know I've got something in common with someone-er-something. The song itself has grown on me and I keep finding myself with the song stuck in my head, but it's not the same without the video, so I guess you're right about that.
I love that fragments like stop motion

Ratatat, always great.
I dont get why they dont get famous. They're awesome. And I mean really famous.
Well they got famous enough to buy a bling for the viddy

Yes they do...all you need is the music......
Holy shit. I can't believe this is already 12 years old.

YES!!!
With a good pair of headphone such as the HD650, I'm able to hear a lot of interesting stuff
first time hearing this song, and it's fucking awesome.
These birds have good taste; grooving and fruging to cool music. Nice trippy, groovy electro-psychedelic jams.
Is there a way we could get the song you produced for Myah Marie, "I'm Crazy"? We only got LQ My Space rips from it.
So sick
Soooooo sick
