I have been ponding off and on, more on, for 30 years, and through trial and error, I would have to agree with everything this mans says in all his videos.
Problem is if you use UV to kill floating algae you will get more hair/string algae to replace it. You either need some floating algae to maintain a balance, or add LOADS of plants to suck up all the nutrients, but you really do need lots.
Hello Mr. Steve, i envoy listen to youre videos about Koi's. Sorry about my English, I'm Portuguese. I just want to say i Admire very munch youre work. I have a little koi pond too (about 3000 liters) and i have 3 kois and several. You could make a video explaining how we can see the sex of the carps. Best Regards, Alexandre
I've had my pond for 9 years here in the central valley & haven't had a problem yet. But it's in the shade. Could that be a reason why? With no UV light.
If you use common sense you'd know the answer. Of course you can, two separate ones = 110, but why would you ? In the long run the 75 is cheaper as you're wasting 35 watts.

Sir!! Your system and advices are so important and useful. Thanks & Regards.
hi. i have a pond with 9000 gallons and can you recommend the uv light size for my pond?
Helping my son with his first 200 gal gold fish pond. How many watts does he need?
10w, would be plenty; even a smaller W would do the job. But like the man said, oversized is better than undersized.

Thank you sir.
My 9w pretty small can made my like 650 gallon pond clearer in less than 24 hours

Very informative. Thanks.
Well said!
Thanks man good info
Yes, you do!
What do you think about using an active bog filled with aquatic plants in place of a UV light?
If I need a 75W UV ... can I use 2 x 55W back to back?

If you need 75 watts I’d use two 36 watts. It makes 72 watts but you won’t notice a difference in 3 watts lost.
Much appreciated!
