12:33 as a Norwegian, let me clarify. “Engeløybrua” means “The Angel Bridge” which is why it’s concluded in the map, since angels are well… christmassy
A Christmas Eve geography video with Jack? What more could you ask for? Also, Merry Christmas to everyone in this beautiful comment section! Hope you all get the gifts you want!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I really do hope that you and whoever reads this also has the best Christmas and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you and your family enjoys the holidays! Merry Christmas and stay safe!❤🎉
Saint Lucia is named after a saint from the Nordic countries and it also refers to a holiday about it that takes place during Christmas time in the Nordic countries
I missed these kind of videos! Just Jack being Jack, navigating his way thru random Geoguessr locations and chatting with us! What a time. Please make more of these and Merry Christmas to you all!
Engeløybrua on day 8 is angel island bridge in English. The 13th of december is Saint Lucia day. That is the reason why day 9 was the island of St. Lucia.
To be fair, it's one of those English place names you wouldn't know now to pronounce unless you heard it before. I mean, is Slough pronounced Sluff? No, no it's not.
In the first round, Finland was actually a very reasonable guess, since 'järvi' (in Jukkasjärvi) is the Finnish word for 'lake'. Northeastern Sweden has a lot of Finnish place names. 'Jukka' is a Finnish man's name, but in Finnish "Jukka's lake" is 'Jukanjärvi'. So 'Jukkasjärvi' is just the same, but in Swedish orthography (ie. Jukkasjärvi = Jukka's järvi). I wonder why it wasn't called Jukkassjö in Swedish. 'Sjö' is Swedish for lake.
The name Jukkasjärvi is of Sami origin. Coming from the Northern Sami name Čohkkirasjávri meaning lake of assembly. Then Finnish speaking settlers moved to the area and changed the name to the Finnish Jukkasjärvi
It did feel like Geoguessr knew 5 Christmassy locations but forgot they'd have to keep coming up with places till the 25th. I don't know what's Christmassy about a few of these.
i think the reason the place in norway was in the christmas geoguessr, is because the location was at a bridge called «engelbrua» which means angel-bridge
at 12:30 the bridge could perhaps have something to do with christmas cuz its called the "angels bridge" and the angels have to do something with the christmas story but maybe thats farfetched
How could you not have heard of the Ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi in Sweden? Now you have upset all vikings, living and dead. You need to repent by staying in one of it's frozen rooms. You are allowed to bring Becky for warmth.
Engeloybrua - Angel Island bridge: Angels are related to Christmas you know. St Lucia - there is a Swedish tradition to celebrate Saint Lucia on the 13th of December
on day 8 the reason it was christmas related was because the name of the bridge was engeløybrau witch means angel island bridge. (im danish btw)
Like this so Jack sees!
That was what I was thinking (I’m Norwegian)

jack, a british man: i've never heard of lambeth
me, a canadian man who has never been to the uk: SOUTH LONDON SOUTH LONDON SOUTH LONDON SOUTH LONDON
When Jack said he nailed NYC, he meant he got the right solar system
At least something right 🤷🏼
real
still better than that time I guessed betelgeuse on mongolia
@@Potatoboii2what's that I once guessed GLASS-Z13 on France
I guessed proxima b in alpha Centauri solar system

I don't celebrate christmas but thanks anyway!
Thank you Mark, I hope you have a good Christmas too
@@hammadi_music Whoops. Should’ve thought about that. If anyone doesn’t celebrate Christmas, just have an amazing day in general! Much love 🫶

also jack: puts the marker north east
He did it twice as well, i was literally screaming
Jack: it's not very Christmasy, was this taken in summer?
Me: *sighing in the southern hemisphere*
Me: *sighing in the tropics*
Saint Lucia is named after a saint from the Nordic countries and it also refers to a holiday about it that takes place during Christmas time in the Nordic countries
The one in Loughborough is christmassy because it is a filming location in love actually. It is «the dodgy end of wandaworth»
1:13 “icelandish” 💀 💀
Finally someone noticed too
If you're on a mountain and no one's wearing heavy gear or oxygen, it isn't Everest. :)
The way he says Loughborough hurts my soul
same
Everyone knows it's pronounced Loo-ga-ba-roo-ga.
13:28 It was at this moment that I realized I have literally been right there. I went scuba diving from this shop 😂
Jack: "Hahaha Ive been to Christmas island before"
Jack less than two minutes later: "I wanna go to Christmas island you know"
Lol
I think he meant he’s been to it in GeoGuessr
Jack has come a long way. Merry Christmas 🎄!

love the way Jack mispronounces most names, Loughborough 'Lowbro' - it's Luffborough!
Not even brits can speak english.
Yeah as someone who currently is studying at Loughborough uni, the pronunciation hurt me
and he said it SO many times 😂😂
@@torreyskiddhaha I know right he kept repeating it to the point I almost thought it was deliberate

Wonderful video as always Jack!
The street in London is actually where the prime minister in love actually knocked on all the doors to find Natalie!
15:51 Faroe Islands does not control any country, Denmark controls the Faroe Islands.
I saw a GeoGuessr Pro who didn't get the Saint Lucia round, so you should be proud of yourself, Jack!
15:52 The Faroe Islands do not control any country. The Faroe Islands are controlled by Denmark.
Fun fact: st.luica was named after a woman named lucy
7:14 "Do I know her?" 🤣💀
Merry Christmas and happy new years Jack!!!
16:46 casually roasts the UK
I would assume that Engeløybrua is chistmassy because the first part of it, «engel», means angel in Norwegian, so I think that that may be the reason?
No way Jack just called Loughborough (l-u-f-b-u-r-u) Loughborough. But thx for the entertainment on Christmas Eve Jack!!!!!
I really miss him just playing geoguessr for fun like this more often, I really like seeing him just play geoguessr for fun.
I also miss seeing him play maps made for him or just playing normal geoguessr on the world map of it, too
Little does he know Xmas is tomorrow
Merry Christmas Jack 🌲❄️

Nice job! Merry Christmas!!
19:13 cure-a-shao is the correct pronunciation
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New year Jack!
The reason the loughborough one was christmassy is because the town is known for making bells.

Idea: You use like chatgpt or something to create a random name for a country as if it was going to be real and you make a flag for it.

Don't feel bad Jack, I couldn't find Machu Picchu either... and I also felt kinda dumb for not knowing where it was in Peru.
