This is why I'm "anti-questions". It's the teach-a-man-to-fish situation. I've always been reluctant to ask questions and I feel so much better off because of it. Seeing my information-finding skills improve over my first 2 years of programming was really encouraging because I realised I could find really obscure* information and solve really difficult* problems. Nothing feels better than squeezing blood out of stone! * That thing you think is really hard is actually really easy if you just try!
5:00 I like the term "meta programming" (not that kind) for the practice of looking up and finding answers in documentation, forums, and even in the source itself. This is a skill that is never taught, but all the best programmers realize they have to learn it.
08:25 - You can do everything for free but knowing were to start, knowing what you don't know, having problems that will help you think, people that will help you with those problems, those normally aren't free (or easy to find)
