  • Former Justice Secretary Sir Robert Buckland has told Sky News the government is pushing the boundaries of international law - but not breaking them.
His comments came after Home Secretary Suella Braverman admitted her proposals were contentious.
Under the new plans to be published later, people who are caught crossing the Channel on small boats will be permanently banned from claiming asylum in the UK.

Just a pity the government don't put as much effort into helping the British people in this cost of living as there putting in the effort for stopping small boat crossings

He had to 'deal' with "the massive public concern"' not "the Government's concern" - we also can't keep up this "Great British tradition" as the country en-mass is suffering undeniably and will be brought to its knees if this situation goes on. It's time the UK put its hard hat on!

If a homeless person with severe mental health issues steals from a super rich tax evading supermarket like Tesco (where 80% of food goes to waste anyway). Society will try to stop and punish them, yet it's okay for gangs to make thousands from migrants.. Never listen to someone who preaches to be a good person like that Sky woman. Fake.

COMMENT: £300 million given to France since 2014, is yet another example of capital flight abroad, through/by the government by design, that has little to no effect, as per popular media reporting, by way of example the video; in essence, such is politiks of borders at issue, with the EU principally, as distinct from individual countries, where the "authority" of the logical transaction from the EU presents as being absent, especially with reference to the Human rights under EU law, that is distinctly operating differently from the Northern Ireland boarder of the EU - the EU should bring leverage to the France/UK issue of borders, as the situation is unacceptable, and source of social unrest being subverted through "legalese", "input" of lawyers as politicking again in operation, diametrically opposed to such strategic issues aforementioned, of issues of process......go figure.

The United Kingdom is in such a serious state of decline in so many different areas and this mass invasion of unwanted illegal immigrants is contributing massively to the myriad of problems we as a nation are now confronted with.

I live in Australia and prior to pushing the boats our government came under much international condemnation., including accusations of breaking international law. But they considered protecting our borders was paramount and no body else was going to stop us doing so. The consequences of this ? Nothing….and the boats were stopped! That took guts! And governments need guts! Totally agree that international law needs reviewing.

Seeking asylum is a legal status , there is no illegal entry.
Is that not the processing policy that determines whether a person qualifies. The Tories have allowed to create a backlog of 160k . Isn't Europe also a lucrative place for refugees, stable , democratic, not war torn.
