Alucard - Suffers from loneliness and slowly becoming his father. Trevor - Falls into despair after witnessing a calamity Sypha - Found out her new friend is a Child murderer and starting to lose faith Hector Becoming a slave, thinking his life is over. Issac - YO! I AM DOING GREAT OVER HERE!!!!
I actually thought that when Isaac was riding towards that tower sooner or later laser beams would be fire at him by somekind of creature that formed inside of Legion.
I didn’t make that connection due to her beating the shit out of him and saying “shhh the REAL people are talking” when they were in the conference room
Maybe because I watched too much TV but when the judge was talking to the kid and told him where to find the apple tree and that he shouldn't tell anyone, I saw it coming
i thought it was weird to send a kid seemingly far into the forrest, and i always thought the judge was a bit off,, but i'd never imagine that he'd kill him.
well it kinda had to be as Dracula's Curse and Curse of Darkness have to be connected whenever the series'll get to another game's plot I doubt it'd clash with the source material
I think so but honestly is that a bad thing? As long as they give us a good story that is inspired by some elements of the Original games I say go ahead and continue. It is a good show.
@@dinkcrab2427 me neither I just hope they skip the 16th, 17th and 19th centuries I only want Richter and Julius seasons besides Trevor... cuz doing SImon seasons would take lots of resources
I'm most interested in Isaac's story, a lot of this season for him really made him contemplate the idea of carrying out Dracula's plan. Sure every act of kindness he came across was almost immediately ruined by human ignorance but still there was kindness. It would be interesting to see if Isaac took the captain's advice and tried ruling and teaching instead of committing mass genocide.
I think Isaac's view on humanity shifted a little. He ordered his army not to destroy the mage's town, so that sometime someone could live there eventually. But I agree that his story this season was the most compelling.
Hell the captain even states exactly that, there was kindness and if you continue on this path you destroy the possibility of such kindess ever again ( WHich to be fair, Issac seems to care A LOT about that virtue itself since he believes i nthe world having to be reset and it will be filled with love or whatever. But now hes seeing that potential still being in the current world o: even though everything has gone to hell lol
To bad things didn't go well for Hector this season especially for fans of curse of darkness seeing their favorite character being treated like crap is just terrible.
It's really hard to feel bad for Hector when he keeps falling for the most simple tricks. I'm sure he'll have a redemption towards the end of Carmilla's arc but he's still a putz.
Don't be seduced by the very people holding you hostage? They can't exactly kill Hector since he is a forgemaster, so all he had to do was resist them.
Honestly Hector is doing all right. He is going to be living a safe, comfortable, luxurious life and has a hot immortal vampire lover/owner. Its a hell of a lot better then where he was at in the start of the season, and if he refused to help the sisters they would have just tortured him to death.
I saw her plan from a fucking mile away, like he called her out at first but after she kicked his ass he went all "yes mommy". I mean, she took him for "walkies" ffs, the whole dominatrix/slave pet vibe wasn't exactly *subtle*
Trevor mentions a Belmont who knew of the corridor, and calls them a "She," likely being Sonia from Castlevania Legends, which got retconned. So "she" is a legend to Trevor, that knows of an alternate universe, basically.
Yes, I'm pretty sure that was a reference to Sonia and she is canon in the series' timeline, although slightly different than her game counterpart since she is not the first hunter Belmont anymore, but it is Leon Belmont instead. But given that Sonia's birthdate, according to the Castlevania wiki, is 1433 and Trevor's is 1456, it makes perfect sense that he was refering to her.
@@MagashiSaizen Given hes pretty much a fully new written story ( Which I dont mind, Saint Germains story in the game is kinda.. weird? I understood it just never cared for time cops lmao) like most of this series I enjoy the retelling of these characters from honestly either shoe in stories or no story at all in Trevors case besides the ending of beating dracula (game wise) Back to Germain, it would be so cool if she was in fact sonia but I dont know given hes pretty freaking old (immortal) and while we dont know the time they met it seems as if they've been together for quite some time..
Im glad Im not the only one that noticed that little detail, it could be a reference to Sonia, which was at one point the only known female belmont, but also Trevor's mother,. while here she could merely be an ancestor to him, given how casually he talks about "her".
@@sparkydoodle696 Ithink a pirate was a Playable character in the game that Trevor and Sypha are from, but I am not sure as I am a casual fan of castlevania.
You missed a big one of when when Trevor kills the big monster: the Vampire Killer Morning Star whip gets engulfed in flames. In the games; the strongest attack from The Vampire killer would set it on fire. And also the big reference to Legion, but that has already been brought up
@@harakkaEtheraven Not really, not only there are many non Belnades magicians, including Alucard who knows some spells, but Grand Cross has been done by Belmonts since Leon
Issac is literally the only character who makes sense. He himself in this season struggles with a crisis of faith. But by the end of the season he seems happy
Are we ready to talk about how the theme of this season was that humans suck and everyone's character arc is a unique way of realizing that? And that Isaac and Alucard have parallel stories about wanting to believe in and feel vulnerability around humans only to have their hopes crushed. And that in exploring those themes it gives credence to Dracula's initial reasoning for wanting to wipe out humanity. That despite the theme that humans are trash, ironically Isaac, the character who hates humans the most is also the one used to explore the idea that there's hope for humanity. Because I SURE AM!
Season 3 was the aftermath season. All the actions that happened were the result of the death of Dracula. As our cast try to find their bearings in a world where they feel has no objective or central goal anymore, like with Sypha and Trevor adventuring, Alucard mentoring, Isaac Fulfilling Dracula's wishes while fighting his own moral desires, and Carmila and her sisters accomplishing their "scheme." All the result of Dracula's death.
And in doing so easily made the best arc essentially not even happen. Where Hector was supposed to find his wife and actually have a reason to trust humanity again..."in the 3 years of dracula's death ." Where isaac finds him and leads the villagers to kill his wife on accusations of witchcraft. But nope...here we seem him in bed with a vampire , get a ring that ties him to all parties accountable and therefore a slave....I hate the series butchery of his character. I'll keep playing Curse of darkness to commemorate the man i respected so much. I can only assume whoever created this had an EXTREME hate for Curse of Darkness and retconned it.
Vayos ReaperoftheVoid I cant claim to be an expert on this universe, because o haven’t played any of the games. But I do know that from a pure show narrative point of view, the direction they took was very much appreciated by me, A person who’s only been introduced to this universe but this series
@@Zarryon12 I am actually interesting in seeing how they go with his character. They clearly want to have Isaac and Hector have their fight like in Curse of Darkness but they are taking a very different route to get there. Its only been at most 3 months since Dracula's death (Camilia says as much when she gets back) so there is still time for things to happen and things to change. From how I think they are trying to take Hector's character, is to making him go through hell to hate both humans and monsters (vampyres specifically) to get to a point that would have him trust humanity again. Will this be before or after Isaac sacks Camilia's castle is left to be decided. I see why people might hate what they're doing to him but it seems to be for a purpose of they wouldn't have tried to focus on him like they did. All of his scene are about holding out hope that people in general might be decent in some way but always getting lied to. I could be wrong though.
But Lovecraftian horrors are about creatures that don't even care we exist or notice us. Think of ants under our feet when we walk. Squids looking things aren't Lovecraft horror, please learn the difference
I tried to understand what Lovecraftian Horror was through a bunch of websites, but I don't really understand. Would someone be so kind and explain it to me? :)
Well also could be a reference to the crimson stone from lament of innocence. The alchemical stone used by Mathias Cronqvist to trap Walter Bernard's soul inside him becoming Dracula in the process.
You also failed to mention that the gigantic spherical flying mass of bodies was clearly Legion, a reoccurring boss throughout the series, and in the magician's study the shield rod and the hide shield from SotN are clearly visible.
The aboriginal shaman was definitely a reference to Gateway from the X-Men. He can also travel through time and space by spinning that rope. Warren Ellis wrote an arc of the X-men back in the day. So that reference was def not lost on him.
Issac was actually likely cast down south into Africa- he Went back to Europe from the port of Tunis in Tunisia, the north of Africa. Meaning, he was very likely sent to Libya or Algeria, in the Sahara desert. While you might still include this in your definition of the "middle east", if it had been somewhere like modern day's Saudi Arabia or further east, he would have gone through to Egypt or modern day Israel/Lebanon, or he had been in modern day Iraq/Iran, it would have been from Turkey.
Bible references: The zombies wearing Crown of Thorns idea came when Jesus was crucified and Romans made one for him to wear to mock his supposed royalty lineage.
There is also the idea of "Legion" where the Magician controls all these people like a demon! Not only is Legion a reacurring Bossm, but its also reference biblically as Jesus was the one who forced it out of the body of one person and into the Vast amount of swine that were soon driven mad and threw themselves off of a cliff!
And some of the gospel says that all of Jerusalem's dead rose out of their graves while the Resurrection was going on. Although I'm not 100% sure if the controlled were dead or alive.
@@danielramsey6141 actually he didn't force it....according the the mythology the demon requested to possess the herd of pigs and then run itself off the cliff versus having to be exorcised.......
Not the first jojo reference. In aria of sorrow there's a soul who lets you summon a stand-like demon that even says ORAORAORA and a Weapon that makes soma punch like star platinum
This one is actually a reference to the stone mask in SotN. ... oh wait THAT one is a reference to JoJo as well. Guess everything is a JoJo reference now
The Judge kills anyone he see's unfit in his town, not just kids. He judges people to death through a pitfall trap. Also, judging from the pace of this series, it seems like this will be a long anime, most of the action is grounded, the pacing is slow for character development and you will see current dead/gone characters coming back for sure in the new few seasons. They are establishing character introduction for now in this season. When I 1st saw the Judge I immediately think he is Death (looks like in the game), and death judges lives. Since he is dead and going to hell, I guess it isn't impossible for him to be given the job as the warden of hell. Count Germain, I instantly knew he is the time traveller but the season introduces his origin, he will come again in the future more experienced in time travelling.
@@Mariah-jo1nr If you rewatch the scene you see the kids clothing on a kids sized skeleton so when we saw him run back that one time he most likely burned his body in the pit after all we don't see any animals or bugs trying to eat his body and how else could he have been reduced to a skeleton so quickly. Well unless maybe the tree eats the victims
i think the "i'm going to have to kill it many times" goes as a reference of games where you have to kill a monster several times...because transforms... with a new health bar
Hectors parts were easily the most interesting, learning more about the quartet and seeing Lenore slowly break down Hectors shell just to turn him into her pet was really interesting and they didnt even need much action. Though I did really like Trevir and Syphas parts especially when it come to Saint Germain, he was such an interesting character and easily my favorite new character. And the end scenes were easily the best. Isaac's scenes were pretty badass and even changed his character a little through his talks with the blind dude, captain, and Flyseyes (that's what the netflix subtitles call him at least) where he decides to leave the city standing so other people, people he once taught to destroy, could live in. Sadly Alucard had the most boring and least impactful parts, it was kind of fun watching him create a new bond, and the siblings were actually interesting characters, but it all really led to a dead end where all the work they put into those scenes was destroyed when they tried to kill Alucard, the only interesting thing about Alucards scenes was his very last, where he becomes an Impaler.
AllHandsOnDik also thought them turning on him was a little out of character. They were clearly upset that he seemed to be hiding things from him, but given how fun and playful their relationship was before hand that twist felt forced to me
@@grae_m4 it felt like they didnt really wanna do anything with his character except have him turn evil, and they just realized it halfway through production and decided to shoehorn in their betrayal.
Graeme MacInnis I can see where you’re coming from but I sorta disagree. If they’re trying to build his character arc for SotN. Alucard doesn’t become that character immediately. Plus from my understanding he’s a teenager inside a mans body. But yes his parts were slow. We shall see how it plays out
I'm pretty sure the land pirate they were joking about I'm the first episode was Grant. The creator said that he wrote out Grant from the show because it was too many characters already and that it was ridiculous to find a pirate in a land locked nation. Making a crazy pirate put wheels on his ship and be a "pirate of the roads" sounds like a shout-out to the concept
Grant being a pirate is BS only found in CVIII's US manual. The translated manuals of the 8/16-bit era games tend to be poorly translated with info omitted or modified, and sometimes weird shet added. Ellis argument was that pirates don't make sense in the setting simply showing he didn't do resaerch. He actually admits not familiar to the games
If only they spent less time butchering mainstay characters personality-wise and adding new ones they could've fit him in, especially for the Night Creature that's asked if they remember who they were.
What about Dracula? when count Saint-Germain saw dracula and his wife in I guess hell, they noticed him too and looked right at him. I feel like they're going to do something more with that scene and with Dracula next season
Considering the amount of times Dracula came back in the games I was hoping that scene was a way of telling the audience that Dracula will stay in hell.
@@StoryDive I read that Germaine might be a different incarnation of Dracula from an alternate reality trying to reconnect with his version of Lisa. Would be interesting if true.
@@03chrisv sounds interesting but what I wanna know is why the hell is LISA IN HELL!?!?! She was a good person! Granted yes of she is in Heaven she wouldn't be with Drac but still she was a good person! She doesn't deserve it! And I swear if the excuse is the f***ing Church condemning her means she goes there I'll he pissed. Especially since Season One kinda made it clear the Big man wasn't a fan of their actions.
@@razatiger22 Given that he was transported into a desert and ended up in Tunisia it's safe to assume he got sent somewhere in the western half of the Sahara. So the best odds for a modern day country would be Algeria.
The animation and the Infinite Corridor, the Harvest ritual and all of it, was absolutely amazing. Super disturbing, but seriously amazing. Like you, I did like Season 2 better, but this season is a clear precursor to all the shit that is truly coming. I expect to see a WAR OF CASTLEVANIA 1999 scenario happen, finally shown, at long last. The final showdown. Only true fans will get that last reference. Comment if you feel me, brothers.
The final confrontation between the forces of good and Dracula occurs in 1999 when the finally put away Dracula's soul in an eclipse. However this has only been told in stories in other games. Currently there's no game actually showing that part of the story. I'll be about time if it finally gets a proper showing.
They clearly put the money into certain key scenes though. See the 1 fps fighting when Trevor and Sypha comes back out from the church for example. The demon castle war of 1999 will likely never see the light of day in this form. Warren Ellis has already hinted that given a complete run it would span five seasons. That is also because contracts are always renegotiated after five seasons with at least a blanket raise in salary for cast and crew, which makes production costs higher for anything beyond season five. Thus distributors (Netflix) are rarely willing to let anything run beyond that.
Season 6. I think. On The next season, Isaac Will kill vampire sisters. Héctor Will escape. Isaac Will try to return dracula to life. Season 6. Trevor AND Sypha found out about what Isaac AND ask Alucard for help. Héctor Will meet Saint germain. Alucard, Sypha, trevor AND The pirat(Grant) Will fight The Isaac's army while Héctor AND Isaac have their final fight. Isaac sacrifices himself to bring dracula back. Héctor faces dracula. Saint germain helps Héctor to send back dracula to hell. Héctor makes to become Lenore into a human AND they finally live happy. Alucard decides to sleep for a while( until The sont adaptation). AND so It Will end(?) this...
My biggest question is why Lisa is in hell with Dracula. My best guess is like others have said, that humanity is inherently tainted and that humans will go to hell regardless of what they try to make up for. It could be a hallucination, but to see that from the other side of the portal is weird.
T C Dracula in the Castlevania universe is the embodiment of Chaos and the opposite of God who is the embodiment of Order. So basically Lisa was cuddling up to God’s natural enemy and I don’t imagine God being too forgiving. And seeing as there is an entire circle of hell dedicated to heresy, I can see how she might end up there. Sometimes God can be a bit petty.
H240909 All that explanation says to me is that human depravity comes from God. If this ends up being true, then the show’s central theme is nihilistic as fuck, which would be an achievement.
Or it could be that she's not really in hell, but God is allowing Dracula to be reunited with her even though they ended up in two different places. Similar to how the undead Bishop being able to bless the river can be interpreted as God knowing exactly what Sypha was about to do to Dracula's Castle.
In some shows a person's loved ones state they will stay with them even if it's to hell then they'd be in hell together as a small consolation. Take rui in demon Slayer with his parents for a example
The most interesting thing that happened in this season is that guy going through time .. .., it was unexpected and took the series to another level, things that guy didn’t even know how to react to
Joseph Quevedo I think that may be a common motif for that type of fallen angel/demon. It may even be described in the Bible. I know I’ve seen that design elsewhere, and I’ve never played Devil May Cry.
I do like the nice reference to the book "Carmilla". As in, Castlevania's Carmilla lives in Austria, which is where the book "Carmilla" is set. Nice touch.
@@Aristocratic13 it's literally called Carmilla. It has nothing to do with the character, other than that they share a name. As far as I am aware, no other vampires appear in it. Vampire characters in Castlevania are often named after popular culture vampires; Dracula for one. Castlevania's Carmilla is based on the titular character from this book. And there is another one; Elizabeth Bartley (a character only in the video games so far) who is based in the real "vampire" Erzsébet Báthory, a relative of Dracula's.
tyranitararmaldo Lol Ah that’s the actual name. And thanks. That is interesting. I would like to read some Castlevania novels. Never played the games unless you count Super Smash Brothers
With the introduction of Taka and Sumi, i really thought they were going to take Alucard to Japan and make him start the whole japanese government with him taking up the persona of Genya Arikado
Honestly I thought he was going to teach them and they were going to be the founders of the Hakuba clan who were instramental in the final defeat of Dracula during the demon castlewars alongside Charlotte from portrait of ruin, Alucard and Julius Belmont. Alas no we get throw away characters who contribute nothing but apathy to the story.
@@Usernamesdontmatter1 literally. They could of just cut out all of alucards scenes and used the time for other characters. Or just added another episode and put all of alucards scenes into it and expand it and make it have a worthwhile impact.
@@MostlyPonies1 I always thought Alucard as asexual, it fits with his character since he doesn't interact with people that much and talks very little, example in Symphony of the Night.
The four vampires leaders have been using human as a self-replicating food source after waging war and colonizing neighbouring countries for centuries .... suddenly realize they could use human a as self-replicating food source after waging war and colonizing neighbouring countries... They truly have the wisdom of age.
@Rechordian That's said by Dracula, in one of the most memorable dialogues ever with Richter Belmont, in the game Symphony of the Night. Here, have a look: th-cam.com/video/T2IhsPxJPdk/w-d-xo.html
I think that next season Lenore will actually show Hector that she genuinely loves him and despite his reservations, and the tonne of sex he will have with her, he will admit that he loves her as well. She will in essence become his first wife and the series version of Rosaly. She will then be killed by Issac, when he attacks Styria at the head of an army of Night Creatures, setting up Hector and Issac for a final showdown.
This seems like a plausible scenario, but I don't think Lenore will ever truly love Hector and it could just become a Codependent relationship, where Lenore tries to get Hector to reciprocate and is forced to every time under threat of pain or death.
I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet: When Isaac visits the shopkeeper, a Moai Head can be seen, which is a reference to the secret Moai heads you can collect in Castlevania I
I kept waiting for a Devil May Cry reverence after Germain said that there was a portal for multiple levels of hell. I figured that was how they were gonna do the crossover.
@@Shadowheartmk Honestly, Because I hated That Damn sub-Weapon, every time it Dropped out of a Damn Torch or candle I'd Start Prioritizing Dodging that over anything the monsters were doing. So I Quickly Learned Exactly what it Looked Like XD... Oh an I didn't hate it because it was Bad Mind you,I just hated it because it was Less fun to use and Cost So Many more hearts than any other Sub Weapon (Except the Stopwatch, but that thing stops time soo).
Am I one of the few people that did not enjoy where Alucard's story was going? I seriously feel like it is a backstep from his development. I know what they story is trying to do, but I am finding it a hard pill to swallow.
Yes it was! There are already stone masks for jojo references in the games too such as Lament of Innocence (mentioned in this vid) and Curse of Darkness. Jjba is the gift that never stops giving.
@@danielessex2162 The stone mask in Castlevania first appeared in Symphony of the Night, which came out in 1997. The stone mask in jojo has been around since the first chapter of the manga, which came out in 1987. So no, jojo couldn’t have gotten the idea from Castlevania.
The library that germains wife was held in looked to me to be the library of Babel a theoretical library of randomized books that contain everything ever written and everything that ever will be written. It would be a fitting metaphor for the infinite corridor Maybe just cause I love the short story though.
Towards the end of castlevania 2, there`s an abandoned town with a lone occupant that says something like "don`t look into the death star or you will die". Never made sense, but when Isaac comes across miranda in the village I instantly recalled that part of castlevania 2, especially since she`s the only person there. Similar drab aesthetic, and she`s even sitting like in the game. most of the characters in the game were standing. Obviously that part wasn`t important to the game`s story, but I really do think it`s a reference given the cryptic, mysterious vibe. Am I reaching too far for this one? I did apprecate the connection storydive made to cv2 but feel like it may be even more specific to that part.
Im curious who was that group that germain sees running in that flashback. They seemed important considering the scene zooms in on them Not gonna lie tho, that scene where trevor pulls out that other whip was hype af
There's a comic or some sort about egyptians with powers who are god killers or something like that...its not too developed but is a bit interesting..im not sure if thats what that scene was but it reminded me of them, a group of egyptian kids
Ya know, one thing to note is that it wouldn't make sense for Alucard to be full out evil after the twins, but instead be weary of people, given that he put the bodies there as a warning, but only that.
StoryDive The gun looking thing was the lightening stone subweapon from sotn Antigua lightening ring. Trevor and turning both whips into an item crash flame whip. Sypha learning the Lightening Spell after absorbing the lightening attack of the creature her fingers spark and she electrocuted the wet floor. So now she is equipped with all three of her spell powers from castlevania 3. Technically Trevor never gains the item crash power but the default item crash when no sub weapon is equipped in the sotn is taking the whip and making it a flame whip. In simon’s quest he has to buy various whips and add to it to create the flame whip. But it’s not till future games like sotn that we see an item crash, lament of innocence gave Leon the item crash due to renaldo enchanting his gauntlet. Since Trevor mentioned Leon than logically speaking Trevor can item crash, specifically the promo picture showing Trevor holding three small daggers the traditional item crash with daggers three are thrown straight forward. Also nice to see Trevor using the huge meat cleaver axe weapon thrown using the whip. The forgemaster book also had other creatures seen in castlevania. Also season 2 Easter eggs the dolls in Alucards childhood room the ghost, fairy, devil, bat, wolf. The magician vs issac fight shield rod and leather shield in the chamber. Boat on wheels definitely sounded like a grant reference. You could have also mentioned the part of Lenore transforming into a bat swarm and mist that was a lord of shadows 2 reference almost. Were you able to identify the bondage rings the Japanese couple Taka and Sumi used? It was clearly magical and silver since it seemed to hurt Alucard and bound him till sword familar saved him. Roast chicken as castlevania food although wall meat or dropped. Alucards cooking style using the basket to steam the fish he caught was a Japanese style and wrapping it in leaves. Many foods he eats are items dropped by dead enemies from sotn and forward.
Interesting that you liked season 2 more. I thought season 2 was a hot mess that was rushed. Season 3 was a much smaller scope character-driven story. There is a lot more substance to take away from this story and the grim lesson it teaches.
i thought season 3 was the best yet. great writing. some really awesome conversations etc. lots of world building and character development. setting up an epic season 4 i hope.
i'll give two guesses for Saint Germain's partner. the info we got from the partner is as follows; A: they have a feminine build and long hair. B: they are most likely trapped in castlevainia, but one in the future. the place looks amp'd up with new magic and shifting rooms, and is inverted. this could be a reference to SotN where halfway into the game castlevanina flips. C: we know that Saint Germain thinks very highly of the person, but it is unclear if the relationship is sexual or not. my guesses; 1: Alucard. would not be surprised if Alucard gets stuck in castlevania in the future and Saint Germain may be his only friend alive and willing to try and save him. 2: the show's adaptation of Shanoa from order of ecclesia. THIS is more of a shot in the dark, but the silhouette fits and the show has not shy'd away from using lesser known characters before. the order of ecclesia was also known to be in deep with its knowledge of alchemy and the occult...ok this is more wishful thinking on my part but, i don't know i just think it being Alucard is too obvious. timey-wimey shit is always hard to theorize on.
Honestly I thought they were gonna go a step further and have him be a pedophile or feeding them to a horrendous monster. I'm not disappointed or anything I'm just saying I expected worse.
Finished S3 a few days ago. The weekend is here and I’ll be watching it again. Can’t tell you how many times I watched and rewatched the first two seasons. Issac Vs Legion was cool as Hell and he was the only one who got a happy ending. Well let’s be honest even though Alucard and Hector had depressing endings they both had “Happy Endings” haha.
I really hope they explore Saint Germain lost within time and space within the Corridor and hopefully seeing some more of those weird other worlds as well. Maybe he escapes by the mid season and ends in saving out main characters when they least expect it, kinda like an ex machina.
They have to make a season 4, nothing is resolved. It would be dumb on Netflix's part to not greenlight at least one more season, though I hope we get at least two more.
yes, its definately building up to something so there has to be an other season, it ended with so many things unresolved, so at least we will have an other, maybe more but who knows, its gogn for tsomething quite epic i think.
When issac and his creature talked with each other, that to me was the beat part of this season. It shows us there is more to these creatures then just being a human eating monster that follows someone around.
The shopkeeps mask at 4:59 is a reference to the Stone Mask from multiple games, which in itself is a reference to the stone mask from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The gun at 5:50 is the Augunea from Symphony of the Night. The giant ball of people controlled by the magician is also a reference to the boss Legion/Granfalloon from multiple games. The leather shield and Holy Rod from Symphony of the Night can also be seen in the room where Isaac fights the magician (not seen in this video). One of Isaac's minions (the orange, aquatic looking one) is also a reference to the Mermen, as they can also shoot fireballs.
Giant ball of townspeople = legion boss (although legion is usually a mass of dead/zombified bodies) Trevor uses the flame whip technique = richter belmonts item crash attack when he has no subweapons in sotn Taka and sumi may be a reference to genya arikado, alucards identity in aria of sorrow, who created an organization in japan to prepare for dracs eventual return. Its safe to assume that he knows japanese people tend to slay demons and banish evil spirits on a regular basis. The judges spike pit is a cheeky reference to collapsing floors with bullshit spike traps. Isaac has a yellow gillman from sotn as one of his demons. It even spits fire! The priory is a subtle reference to the unholy chapel from sotn (a juxtapose because really, a chapel in an unholy place like castlevania?) Sypha uses lightning magic during the final battle in the priory, something that no playable beldnandes in castlevania has ever done (usually just fire ice and earth magic)
I mean. You're not entirely wrong. I think in SotN they were representative of Vlad the Impaler, and same thing here. I dont think they were specifically a reference to the enemy in SotN thoughm
You forgot something: The mask was a reference to JoJoverse being the Stone Mask that turns people to vampires. Isaac fights against something that looks like a Legion. And the vision that we saw from hell was a representation of Dante's Hell.
Khärma Von Kamfeer Dante yeah especially with the icy fields of betrayal. Idk what circle Dracula was in? Someone else mentioned the JO JO reference which was confusing unless one of the directors Or illustrators worked on that show before. This makes sense seeing as Warren Elis works with Marvel, especially on my boy Moon Knight, and during the Infinite Corridor scene we could have been looking at the Marvel Universe. Especially since it has aboriginal/African folks who can dimensional travel in X-men where Warren has worked.
@@Aristocratic13 Castlevania itself has quite a few Jojo's references since Koji Igarasi, the co-director of SotN nad director of AoS, PoR, OoE and others is a fan of Jojo's. The stone mask item has appeared in a few castlevania games since SotN as a reference to the stone mask from Jojo's, and the jade mask seen here looks a lot like it just green instead of grey.
This is SUCH an unusual anime (animation, cartoon, whatever)! The voice actors all give their characters these tics, sighs, giggles, grunts, that I often don't see in most animations. Their speech is clean and crisp, even while respecting the accents of the characters. When you learn that most of the voice actors have been in theater it makes sense. Sometimes it almost feels like the animators didn't know how to animate those sounds, similar to how CGI artists had to figure out how to show characters inhaling when they sing, something 2D cartoonists didn't worry about. Adding them made them feel so human that it actually took me out of the story a bit (in a good way). The story also isn't afraid to have quiet moments where we explore detailed characterizations and philosophy without it being alienating or pretentious. Each scene is full of subtext and believable social interactions. The way characters talk about others when they aren't around, about their ticks, mannerisms, and motivations like real people do with those they've known a long time. The minute I saw the sisterhood I thought of my own female friends, our different levels of relationship and how we get along. Seeing Trevor refuse to look at Sypha when being offered a new mission feels like an interaction I'd see in a live action, not an anime. Even characters we don't see long, like the fly or pirate, gave me a lingering feeling. It works because those moments of stillness, though still, aren't dead; they carry the plot along. It's one of the things that make the show so good. This is one of those rare stories where all the creators on every level are doing their part VERY WELL leading to a cohesive whole. I'm rarely tempted to rewatch a series but this one may be an exception.
@@caligarigamervod in my initial comment I say "an unusual anime (animation, cartoon, whatever)!" for a reason. I tend to not get caught up in technicalities when it comes to stuff like this. If it's done in an anime style then I call it an anime regardless of where it's from. Not everyone thinks that way though so I said the quote above. So for you it's not an anime and for me it is and that's okay :)
It's not really a "Castlevania" easter egg, but there is one shot in Dracula's Castle where you can see Dante's Rebellion up on a wall. This is interesting since I believe the writers are also working on a Devil May Cry series next. And speaking of Dante, the depiction of Hell when viewed through the Infinite Corridor is taken right out of the Divine Comedy. Right up to how the lowest layer, the 9th circle is a frozen lake.
The Librarian in SOTN: St Germain might bee named after the dude from Cursed of Darkness but he reminds me more of the Librarian in SOTN. Heck he was reading books the whole season as well as the portal seems to be towards a library. SOTN's Inverted Castle?: That library seems to be inverted as well.
I found Lenora the most intresting character this season and love every scene she was in (A bit sad she only views Hector as a pet). The adventure of Trevor and Syphor was intresting especially the Count who I hope we will see more to. I however don't see a reason why Dracula would come back since he have his wife and if he was gonna return with his wife then Trevor action was evil. I feel they kinda waste the japanese since it could have been a go way to explain why Alucard was in Japan in the games. Isac was the less intresting of the 4 stories but let's see how Season 4 handles him.
Lenore will probably be killed off in season 4 when Isaac attacks the quartet. Given her and 2 of the other sisters aren't in the games they make perfect fodder.
I thought Issac was the most interesting, they really thought his character out. Other characters including Lenore which I also loved, was quite easy to see coming. Issac is fleshed out, everytime he was on screen u expected some double crossing or betrayal to happen. Even the scene when he was talking to the monster he made and can control, it made u feel like something wasn't right. I think issac is the most dangerous on the show.
Danny Kriegbaum Laursen Funny, I personally loved Issac's travels and him trying to figure out exactly what he wanted to do with himself. Lots of good dialog with other characters in most of his scenes plus his battle against the evil mage (legion reference) was awesome.

You deadass forgot isaac
You didnt mention that when all the brainwashed villagers became 1 ball, this was a reference to Legion, a boss in Symphony of the night
And a few other games: Aria of sorrow, Harmony of dissonance, etc
I loved how they made Legion. I'm pretty sure it leans closer towards Aria of Sorrow since all the people stay passive until you enter the boss room.
I actually thought that when Isaac was riding towards that tower sooner or later laser beams would be fire at him by somekind of creature that formed inside of Legion.

cdcdrr tbh from my perspective the judge did molested those boys thats why he killed them 🤷🏽♂️
Why did he kill them anyway?
No one is talking about how Lenore's relationship with hector mimics Hector's relationship with night creatures; they treat the other like their pets.
Now you mention it, you are right it seems similar
I didn’t make that connection due to her beating the shit out of him and saying “shhh the REAL people are talking” when they were in the conference room
Except Hector never fucked his night creatures (hopefully).
Wow good point! I’m so annoyed by Hector tbh.

Maybe because I watched too much TV but when the judge was talking to the kid and told him where to find the apple tree and that he shouldn't tell anyone, I saw it coming

I think we can all agree that this stopped being a game adaptation and more of it's own thing entirely, right?
well it kinda had to be as Dracula's Curse and Curse of Darkness have to be connected
whenever the series'll get to another game's plot I doubt it'd clash with the source material

I think the slow parts of the season where the best. Allowed the characters to be more developed.

It's really hard to feel bad for Hector when he keeps falling for the most simple tricks. I'm sure he'll have a redemption towards the end of Carmilla's arc but he's still a putz.
What would you do in that situation lmao
Maybe it was a reference to Sonia, BUT in Order of Ecclesia, you have a town full of descendants of the Belmonts, including many woman.
Maybe that's who he lost in the corridor and keeps seeing in his dreams?
@@MagashiSaizen Given hes pretty much a fully new written story ( Which I dont mind, Saint Germains story in the game is kinda.. weird? I understood it just never cared for time cops lmao) like most of this series I enjoy the retelling of these characters from honestly either shoe in stories or no story at all in Trevors case besides the ending of beating dracula (game wise)
Back to Germain, it would be so cool if she was in fact sonia but I dont know given hes pretty freaking old (immortal) and while we dont know the time they met it seems as if they've been together for quite some time..
Im glad Im not the only one that noticed that little detail, it could be a reference to Sonia, which was at one point the only known female belmont, but also Trevor's mother,. while here she could merely be an ancestor to him, given how casually he talks about "her".
So is no one going to talk about Trevor and the Judge mentioning about a "pirate" who stuck wheels onto a boat?

You missed a big one of when when Trevor kills the big monster: the Vampire Killer Morning Star whip gets engulfed in flames. In the games; the strongest attack from The Vampire killer would set it on fire. And also the big reference to Legion, but that has already been brought up
imagine Trevor using grand cross
About that sence .......

More basically about trust I would say
@@tonytony8872 yes that's a much more concise way of putting it. Humans can't be trusted
Yet the two main characters, Trevor and Sypha, are humans who repeatedly risk their own lives to save people they don't even know.
The judge even told Trevor about his "personal apple tree" as a warning that if he sees trevor misbehaving in his town, he will send him to his death
I think isaac and alucards views on humanity may potentially swap. With isaac learning kindness and alucard gaining a bitter distrust of all humans.

Nope Nop yes, that’s what I meant by Carmila’s “scheme”

Bruh grant gets Shat on in everything. They need to give him some actual screen time like killing monsters or help kill Dracula when he comes back
Grant being a pirate is BS only found in CVIII's US manual. The translated manuals of the 8/16-bit era games tend to be poorly translated with info omitted or modified, and sometimes weird shet added. Ellis argument was that pirates don't make sense in the setting simply showing he didn't do resaerch. He actually admits not familiar to the games
The pirate guy was tge evil wizard that isaac faced
If only they spent less time butchering mainstay characters personality-wise and adding new ones they could've fit him in, especially for the Night Creature that's asked if they remember who they were.

The demon castle war, I hope they bring that to life konami had the chance to do so and they squandered it

She Is succubus. A demon from sont

Am I the only one here that thinks the angelic winged demons look like the demons in Devil May Cry 4?
Joseph Quevedo can’t be a coincidence, they are planning to make a DMC adaptation, and THEN, a crossover with CV
Joseph Quevedo I think that may be a common motif for that type of fallen angel/demon. It may even be described in the Bible. I know I’ve seen that design elsewhere, and I’ve never played Devil May Cry.
They look veeery inspired by the Angelos.
I thought of bayonetta when I first saw that thing.
Midnox really? I never heard of this, is there an article on it? I haven’t heard of a dmc xover with castlevania
I do like the nice reference to the book "Carmilla". As in, Castlevania's Carmilla lives in Austria, which is where the book "Carmilla" is set. Nice touch.
tyranitararmaldo Does the book include her sisters? And what’s the book called?

This would guide us to the plot of curse of darkness
That's such a sick theory! 👏
@@LucasAlmeida-fx6eb This shit is nothing close to Curse of Darkness.
Lenore's name is also a kind of reference, to the trope "Lost Lenore", Lisa can be considered Dracula's Lost Lenore, as it's Rosaly to Hector in CoD.

When Isaac visits the shopkeeper, a Moai Head can be seen, which is a reference to the secret Moai heads you can collect in Castlevania I

The “jade mask” is a reference to the stone mask from JoJo’s bizarre adventure which can turn people into vampires
It was the stone mask from jojo just with different colors
Yes it was! There are already stone masks for jojo references in the games too such as Lament of Innocence (mentioned in this vid) and Curse of Darkness. Jjba is the gift that never stops giving.
Also, the stone mask is one of the objects you find in Symphony of the Night.
Or maybe JoJo got the idea from castlevania?
@@danielessex2162 The stone mask in Castlevania first appeared in Symphony of the Night, which came out in 1997. The stone mask in jojo has been around since the first chapter of the manga, which came out in 1987. So no, jojo couldn’t have gotten the idea from Castlevania.
The library that germains wife was held in looked to me to be the library of Babel a theoretical library of randomized books that contain everything ever written and everything that ever will be written.
It would be a fitting metaphor for the infinite corridor
Maybe just cause I love the short story though.
The series creates and explains the deep world of Castlevania as it paves it way to a new universe. The series is so damn good
Towards the end of castlevania 2, there`s an abandoned town with a lone occupant that says something like "don`t look into the death star or you will die".
She also has a star tattoo on her throat, it may be a reference to the death star you are talking about

This season was so epic. How everything concluded in the last episodes just was so genius. I cannot wait for another episode.
Ya know, one thing to note is that it wouldn't make sense for Alucard to be full out evil after the twins, but instead be weary of people, given that he put the bodies there as a warning, but only that.
That was my thought also.

Ep 9& 10 were great!!

Yeah, the season was slow at times but ep 9 & 10 knocked my socks off!
@The007FMG ...Agreed. Why couldn't it be two hot Japanese chicks? :'(
I did notice something you missed, when all of the slaves come together in a big ball, it resembles Granfaloon/Legion from various games
Yes I missed that for sure. Good catch!
There is a lot more substance to take away from this story and the grim lesson it teaches.

i'll give two guesses for Saint Germain's partner.
the info we got from the partner is as follows;
A: they have a feminine build and long hair.
B: they are most likely trapped in castlevainia, but one in the future. the place looks amp'd up with new magic and shifting rooms, and is inverted. this could be a reference to SotN where halfway into the game castlevanina flips.
C: we know that Saint Germain thinks very highly of the person, but it is unclear if the relationship is sexual or not.
my guesses;
1: Alucard. would not be surprised if Alucard gets stuck in castlevania in the future and Saint Germain may be his only friend alive and willing to try and save him.
I knew the entire season there was something "off" about the judge..
But that reveal of the room full of shoes was chilling to the bone.
It would be dumb on Netflix's part to not greenlight at least one more season, though I hope we get at least two more.
yup this season was great but was a build up to something bigger
yes, its definately building up to something so there has to be an other season, it ended with so many things unresolved, so at least we will have an other, maybe more but who knows, its gogn for tsomething quite epic i think.
The only resolution I need is how Issac became a Muslim who serves under Dracula.
I hope they do a time skip on season 5

The mask at 4:58 is a jojo reference it even has the curled hair
5:48 it was one of the sub weapons in SotN. Something akin to a taser.
El ZoRRo Antigua or lightening ring or stone
@@BelmontClan Agunea, according to the wiki: castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Agunea
When issac and his creature talked with each other, that to me was the beat part of this season. It shows us there is more to these creatures then just being a human eating monster that follows someone around.
The shopkeeps mask at 4:59 is a reference to the Stone Mask from multiple games, which in itself is a reference to the stone mask from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The gun at 5:50 is the Augunea from Symphony of the Night. The giant ball of people controlled by the magician is also a reference to the boss Legion/Granfalloon from multiple games. The leather shield and Holy Rod from Symphony of the Night can also be seen in the room where Isaac fights the magician (not seen in this video). season 3 is the calm before the storm

Yup. Sypha easily has the highest kill count of all the heroes lol.
Giant ball of townspeople = legion boss (although legion is usually a mass of dead/zombified bodies)
Trevor uses the flame whip technique = richter belmonts item crash attack when he has no subweapons in sotn
Taka and sumi may be a reference to genya arikado, alucards identity in aria of sorrow, who created an organization in japan to prepare for dracs eventual return.
The priory is a subtle reference to the unholy chapel from sotn (a juxtapose because really, a chapel in an unholy place like castlevania?)
Sypha uses lightning magic during the final battle in the priory, something that no playable beldnandes in castlevania has ever done (usually just fire ice and earth magic)
well they technically were zombies by definition although alive they still were mindless
Yoko Belnades could use lightning.
@@harlannguyen4048 just checked, yeah her 3rd skill is holy lightning (balls). i stand corrected.
Dracula's castle's armory also stores a sword that's pretty much identical to Rebellion, one of the main swords used by Dante from Devil May Cry

That thing that "might be a gun from Aria of Sorrow" is the Agunea, a sub weapon from Symphony of the Night.
Remember the Scarecrow monster from Symphony of the Night? Sumi and Taka represent it.
I mean. You're not entirely wrong. I think in SotN they were representative of Vlad the Impaler, and same thing here. I dont think they were specifically a reference to the enemy in SotN thoughm
The portal was the weirdest part for me, especially seeing that ship liftoff out of a jungle
That look liked an alien ship from Prometheus
One Easter egg in season 3 I noticed is the mass of bodies Isaac fights is LEGION a boss from Aria of sorrow, Dawn of sorrow and portrait of ruin.
That "Jade Mask" reference seems more like a JoJo reference as it bears a similar design to the Stone Mask that Dio used in Phantom Blood.
You forgot something:
The mask was a reference to JoJoverse being the Stone Mask that turns people to vampires.

Actually, this is not an anime.
@@caligarigamervod in my initial comment I say "an unusual anime (animation, cartoon, whatever)!" for a reason. I tend to not get caught up in technicalities when it comes to stuff like this.
Right up to how the lowest layer, the 9th circle is a frozen lake.
there already is an animated DMC show, but a new one made the same way Castlevania was is worth waiting for
The Librarian in SOTN: St Germain might bee named after the dude from Cursed of Darkness but he reminds me more of the Librarian in SOTN. Heck he was reading books the whole season as well as the portal seems to be towards a library.
SOTN's Inverted Castle?: That library seems to be inverted as well.
I thought the same thing! Also the colors of the Infinite Corridor reminded me of the teleport rooms in SOTN as well.
@@jakeset Maybe maybe not.

Thank you! Lenore is beautiful and manipulative!
