Reliving The War takes a look at the WWF vs WCW Monday Night War that took place during the mid 90s to early 2000s. With WWF Raw is War and WCW Monday Nitro on at the same time, fans had to choose a channel and pick a side. Reliving The War aims to cover every episode of Raw and Nitro that took place during this time period to see which company was really the best.
David Flair attends Nitro this week and he gets welcomed to the arena by Arn Anderson. David's Father, the Nature Boy Ric Flair, has a big announcement to make and many are speculating that Flair is going to retire tonight on Nitro. In the main event Scott Steiner & Buff Bagwell take on Goldberg & Rick Steiner.
On the WWF channel, Vince McMahon is not happy with how things turned out last week and he decides to fire Kane. Chyna gets Kane another oppurtunity however, all the Big Red Machine has to do is defeat Stone Cold Steve Austin in the Raw main event. Elsewhere on the show Jim Ross makes his Raw return, Road Dogg gets a WWF Championship match against The Rock, and The Undertaker reignites his rivalry with Mankind.

"forget about your problems and enjoy the episode" man I need that so much
Hope whats troubling you is resolved as quickly as it can be, brother. You got this. You're as tough as Steve Blackman
@@saywhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Not quite Steve Blackman. That's impossible.
@@SteveAustin-zv1nn thanks man, I really appreciate that, and I do hope I can be anything close to sensei Blackman, even his hand, Man even a finger...🤣🤣
SAME! That line truly made my day...BIOS FOR THE WIN!!!!
@@cachod2211 Being as tough as Blackman's finger is an aspiration we all share but very few achieve. I think you're capable.
Debra issuing an open challenge and saying she'd strip down if Owen and Jeff lost then seeing HHH and X-Pac sprint to the ring had me dying laughing! It's been a rough day and I needed a good laugh. Thanks, Wrestling Bios!
Oh 😢the how I miss the attitude era. I’m hopeful Hhh can bring it back it really needs it
Only thing that may have made that funnier would be if we saw them sprint while still putting on their gear, like the moment they heard Debra would strip they bolted down to the ring
I've literally been on the verge of a mental breakdown today, so seeing this pop up on my feed, completely forgetting it was Thursday, is exactly what I needed. Thank you.
Hope u feel better❤
@jacobkuhn9072 I've made it past harder days, this one will pass too. Thank you!
@@littlelibraryofhorrors That’s the spirit. You can overcome and be that which transcends any obstacle that comes your way. Wishing you the best. Sick channel you got. I’ll check out your videos.
I'm with you. This video is a nice pick me up!
Yeah.
I don't think Wrestling Bios understands how important his RTW uploads are.
Saturn, even in drag, never ceases to amaze me with his in ring skills!
👍 yep
It's astonishing that he's never mentioned in discussion about the era, especially annoying as his fellow radicalz are talked about all the time
Alot of people having rough days, today. Sorry to hear that but I'm glad this episode can pull us together 🤘🏼
Same here
It is funny that more than 20 years later Ric flair is still teasing last matches and retirement
I love the suspension of disbelief we all had thinking that these wrestlers only saw eaxh other once a week on tv. And could never settle any beefs or anything any other time. Hilarious. I miss those days.
That's funny as hell to think about lol. I hope I'm still pissed next week so I can beat this guy's ass!
Reminds me of how school beefs used to work where you’d only settle it when you two were on school property
It's just hard to fathom the stupidity of WCW. They really had no foresight. A small example is giving Rey Mysterio the giant killer push AFTER removing his mask. Not only did they miss out on an insane amount of sales by removing his most iconic feature before the push, but the mask removal would have been so much more impactful if it happened at the end of a much longer Nash feud.
I can't believe Virgil is in a featured storyline and multiple segments in *1999*!!! There's so much talent still there to do literally anything with and we're seeing VIRGIL.
Unmasked Rey is easily the best version of his character. Far more memorable than anything he's ever done in WWE. Just wait for The Filthy Animals.
@@RobJaskula i'd much rather watch Vincent than old Vince on the other channel who's obsessed with putting himself over. McMahon is older than Flair, Hogan, Piper, etc... yet all you ever hear from WWE is how WCW had old guys in the main event. Flair, Hogan, Piper, etc BELONGED in the damn main event picture, Billionaire Vince did not not and had no place taking that spot against Austin - booking himself in that spot to be clear. Just wait until the end of the year when Vince gives himself his own world title. He may as well have thrown the damn thing in the bin like Medusa did. Totally devalued the WWE title for all time.
I'm not a fan of Goldberg, but watching him lift Big Poppa Pump over his head really was impressive..
Bruh, we have only 2 years left of the Monday Night War, I'm going to be so damn bummed once this series ends. I am going to enjoy the hell out of every episode we have left cause some crazy ish is about to happen! YEET and please keep up this great work!!
And only 2 months till we lose Owen
What will be left for Wrestling Bios afterward?
@@bluntforcetrauma2141 a break from something like this, maybe making other of hte "side" videos... maybe looking at WWE VS TNA? NXT VS AEW? I think he said he doesn't plan on going with the Brand Extension. At least for now... But honestly, Smackdown VS Raw would be a neat follow up... but that would go on even longer htan the MNW.
What a shame that this is the last time we’ll ever see Slick Ric wrestle. A famous last match that definitely took place in 1999
Yep, that was his final one rip his career right here.
This is sad to hear. I hope that he has a great retirement though. After 27 long years, he deserves it.
Well Hulk retired and ran for president... apparently... then came back a couple of weeks later 😂
@@namikstudioswhat? you're telling me wood from the hood wasn't a president since 1999 to this very day? bullocks!
@@efu707 working a work in the White House didn't work for him, brother
I've been having a busy crazy stressful week but i can always count on reliving the war to cheer me up and put me in a cheerful mood
The best jam there is, the best jam there was, and the best jam there ever will be!
22:39: A “Streets of Rage” reference! Kudos to Sega and composer Yuzo Koshiro for that!
Wrestling Bios needs to do a N64 Goldeneye multiplayer reference for the next Road Dogg/Bret Hart Shut Up Clip. BAH NA BAH NAAAA, LAOURRR!
Or even a Captain America and The Avengers reference!
As a kid, I remember begging my parents to order Uncensored 1999 (they did, God love em) and I loved it. The two matches I looked forward to the most were the three-way with Raven/Hak/Bam Bam and the cage match with Hogan and Flair.
We need a super cut of every “Davey boy smith chinlock” moment. Also every explosion chinlock ever
I second that with Savio Vega nerve pinches and every other nerve pinch
I find myself looking forward to RLW the way I used to look forward to Monday and Thursdays nights back in the day!
Found this 2 weeks ago and have caught up already some of the best content on TH-cam ever now I’m here with the rest waiting patiently for each episode to come haha mad I caught up on a Thursday right in time for the latest episode 😎
Welcome aboard, I think most who watch did a little bingewatching, when we first noticed this content! If there are any PPV to cover in any given week, watch out for them on sunday!
@@exilhamburger4802nah oddly enough I caught this series when it was in the 2nd month of 95. It was a godsend because it came out right during the pandemic
Love that Flair promo really hit the nail on the head old gen v new gen wise ❤
Can we get a Saturday Wright Fever Supercut? Show hasn’t been the same since. 😆
I second that
I actually look forward to this more than I did raw back in 99. Great channel 👍🏼
We these are highlights of both shows. We didn't have highlights back than!
Teddy Rubskin is a great addition to the show. He cracks me up every time he makes an appearance.
Teddy Rubskin vs. Smokey the Cat. Book it!
Yes! That’s a five star match for sure 🥲

Bret and Benoit got to the top of wrestling with no gimmick, not much charisma or outstanding promo skills. Just straight in ring excellence ! 2 of the greatest in ring performers
How can you say you can miss this raw when it has the debut of the legendary mean street posse.
As much as Jim Ross is connected to deep wrestling memories for me, the whole Steve Williams brawl for all story really leaves a sour taste in my mouth regarding the man, but truthfully it's his signing off on Ric flair's probably worldwide sexual assault tour during his career and then casually offering up a defense of Ric flair of "Hey...he's a made guy...what can you do..?" That will forever be in my mind about how flawed he is as a human being. But how ingrained he is in the industry to think that is okay and offer up nothing to condemn it.
Well played again. I honestly look forward to these videos every Thursday evening. Good work 👍
Ooooh can we please have a Steve muh fuggin Blackman compilation too? That’s been as consistently hilarious as the chin lock moments.
Yuss! The whole blackman saga in one place!!!!!
Or at least a special youtube short of it
5:19-5:59 This storyline here was in WWF No Mercy on the N64. In Championship Mode, after you lose the Royal Rumble match if you're one of the last people.
4 months and 3 weeks away from "I AM THE F*CKING GAME, J.R."
That’s one of the things I’m most excited for. Reliving hhh’s run to the top of the card
1 month and 28 days till the Pilot SmackDown
I’ve heard that “the game” was meant to go to Owen Hart. I wonder if it’s true and if so, how Owen would have done with it if he had gone along with it
@@josenunez150 really? I never knew anything about that! The way I've always heard the story was that Triple H was just in character and said "the game" line we all know with no clue it would become anything. That the nickname only came about because of fans the following weeks having signs calling Triple H "the game". Kind of like how Austin 3:16 was just something said then the fans made it into something bigger. But you're saying the line was actually pre-written and was supposed to be said by Owen? Wild. I never knew that.
@@MR.__G agreed. Late 1999 - early 2001 before his injury, Triple H was the best guy on the roster. The guy had fantastic matches every single ppv.
14:52
The odd thing about that statement was that he was at the Royal Rumble. For those who never watched Beyond The Mat, he was at the Gorilla Position guiding Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler through his headset (basically the same job Vince is/was infamous for after leaving commentary himself).
An actual win for wcw!!! Whoa!
I'd have given them about 20 more wins to be honest 😂
As always thank you WB. I always look forward to Thursdays knowing that I'll have an after work treat to enjoy. Your hardwork and dedication is much appreciated.
For all that Goldust gave re his personal life stuff, the payoff was dreadful. He should really have been top babyface in the i.c division at this point.
Only a couple more months with Owen 😔. RIP
but before that
We get checked into the SmackDown hotel on April 29th
God this is like the heart if my childhood watching of wrestling. I'd consider 1998-2006 my peak watching. I'm more casual these days cause of time/life. I do enjoy this weekly.
I love how they use certain terminology in their promos and you can easily tell when the episode was shot. The "I got screwed like a white house intern last week" we all know what major news was going on at the time of this show just based on that comment 😂🤣😂, and if you were there then you know.
Favourite part of the Week. Reliving The War. Looking forward to seeing Wrestlemania XV Stone Cold become the WWF Champion again and The Rock becoming the People's Champion once again. LETS GO
Austin 316 🤘🤘🤘
This is the only reason i remember its Thursday
Love the page brotha
Love from Saginaw Michigan
My weekly break from reality for just a minute. Thank you my friend.
If that Jam Up intro with Booker T throwback doesn’t deserve a like, I don’t know what would 🤣🤣🤣
I had to make myself not watch these shows for a couple weeks so I could binge on it. Thank God your still going
Okay, the Jam-Up Couple (specifically the dude's shirt) had me cracking up. They look fun to hang out with. XD
Thank you for another wonderful episode of RtW! This makes every Thursday a day worth looking forward to. :D
It's Thursday night and you know what that means! Reliving The War is here again!
The Streets of Rage Brett and Road Dogg segment. Perfect! 👏
Shut up!
If that supercut is hilarious, I'll send it to Ross and give you a shout out to him.
I don't know what JR ever did to Vince to deserve to get booked in so many embarrassing angles.
Loved the streets of rage addition to the Bret and Road Dogg bit lol
"Shut up!"
Interesting! Billy Gunn actually DOES have asthma and can't go more than about 15 minutes because of it. He works in tag teams because he can roll out of the ring and hit his inhaler as needed
Gunna be waiting for the new intro when Stone Cold is champion 😁
It’s so hard not to watch these at work when they release, luckily waiting for the bus ride home is perfect
I listen to this at work. Small price to pay!
I really feel for Bart Gunn. What has he done to deserve being hated the way he was being hated?
He laid out JR's boy.
@@Rob_Thorsman JR gets embarrassed later on.
I love "the Dancy punch" and "Dancy knee" 😢😢
Love the Teddy Rubskin bits.
Finally. If Nitro never wins another show I'll be happy with their NICE score
They could've just had their proverbial cake with Bart Gunn too. Just go with the idea that he won in a boxing match, and setup the rematch with Dr Death at Wrestlemania and have him go over now that he's not stuck in a boxing match rules and can throw suplexes.
I don't know that it would get WWF in '99 fans to care about a throwback type guy like Dr Death, but it'd have been better then wha they did.
Big Boss Man was the only previous generation guy with a main event push in 1999 in the WWF and that was because of his sheer willingness to do ridiculous uber heel cartoonish nonsense. Dr Death was never going to do anything even remotely as cool and the idea he would have been a main eventer in Attitude Era WWF is laughable. 1995 against Diesel might have been realistic if Jim Ross had pull then but in the WWF's renaissance era, Hell no!
@@pauldavis6232 If they had given him a Brock Lesnar-esque run suplexing fools, MAYBE he could overcome the "Dads favorite NWA wrestler" aesthetic. But even then, yeah. Probably upper-mid and you get one title match and then he loses and is effectively toast.
Which also runs into the problem of the hypothetical opponent being Austin, who wasn't likely to be on the stiffer end of a bunch of suplexes with his neck issue, and had immeasurably more draw to protect.
(Also they didn't bother with Severn or even Shamrock really to keep that kind of shooter aura, and they were better draws for the late 90s)
@RBRSC The Attitude Era had an incredible number of legit main eventers and guys getting close to the main event scene at that time. I wouldn't have sacrificed any of the Attitude Era main eventers for Dr Death. If they gave Dr Death a 6 month deal in 1995 to be a credible opponent for Diesel that might have worked but Dr Death in 1998 was irrelevant and not fitting for the Era.
Williams looked 56yo in 1999
🤣🤣🤣 I had to re watch this episode... Damn Teddy Rubskin had me laughin' through the whole video...
Ruxpin
WWF was so great around this time, the story line, the wrestlers, the matches, just about everything was perfect.
That JR/Bart Gunn segment was practically a shoot.
Road dogg actually got a world title shot wow never knew
Every time I see Public Enemy all I can think of is the inevitability of the Acolytes.
People always say Chyna’s best run was when she was IC champ, but I reckon she was at her peak when she was assisting main events and clocking Austin, The Rock, Taker, etc.
I look forward to all of the supercuts involving all of the running gags.
I just love this show. Only one I actively wait for-and that includes anything on the networks.
The Meng manly meter is off the charts for the wcw mainie 💪😎
What wwf/e did to Bart was disgusting. He was just doing his job, and what did Vince and all his merry men do to him? They buries him. They brought Butterbean in to punish Bart, and killed whatever momentum he developed after the brawl for all. Sadly, this was not be the first time wwe would act petty and it will not be the last.
David Flair looks blown up everytime he is featured
It's really sad that we never got a Kane Shamrock tag team.
We had a tropical storm hit, here in south Florida. I have had no electricity for 24hrs now. Thank God this video dropped.
My shop is on my property. So I have very little else to do.
Oh my god, the next Nitro is the one where there's no wrestling for the first hour.
Happy day everybody it’s reliving the war time break out the jam! Let’s do it!
Excellent video 🎉🎉
I think you should have a wrestler of the week per episode. Would love the debates it would probably bring lol. If it's was me I'd say Rey Jr
Id love for WrestlingBios to cover the entire Undertaker and Hulk Hogan story line from 90s all the way to Smackdown!
Crazy how saying we're going back to 1985 in 1999 today would mean going back to 2009.
WWF exploiting JR's Bell's Palsy condition for storyline was terrible. Wouldn't be surprised if Vince McMahon / Russo came up with this classless angle.
Most likely Russo since Oklahoma showed up in WCW a few months after.
Teddy Rubskin killed me awesome episode awesome ending lol "keep it real...yeah" (y)
WWF turning JR heel never worked. It didn't work in 1996, and it definitely didn't work in '99. This one was even worse because they made JR use his condition to get heat, which backfired badly.
We approaching the new Nitro set soon.
Yoooooo!! Can't wait for the Road Dogg compilation😂😂😂😂thanks for the early Christmas present
shutup
Back in the day, I'd have lunch watching some TV show, but now that spot is reserved for RtW every Thursday, couldn't eat w/o quality TV
You are awesome. I love RTW
Bart Gunn got done dirty he should have been pushed for winning instead they just embarrassed him and got rid of him
I’m like 99% certain this Benoit vs Hart match was the one that was in the opening intro to Malcolm in the Middle
We all forget how long we had Track Suit Rock in the WWF.
Has this been formally addressed?
Something about him dealing with a groin injury I remember hearing but I'm not certain.
Bruce Pritchard says he had pec surgery for cosmetic purposes.
This is the crunk part of the war in my opinion. The Undertaker during this time really had me abt to 💩 myself he was so scary 😱
And with that, after listening to/watching this show for a couple months straight, I've finally made it to the most recent episode! What a wild ride.
Great video
Anybody ever noticed that both WWF and WCW introduced a "Torri" character at the same time 😅😅
30 years later: “I’m medically cleared to wrestle at AEW as an almost 75 year old man”
Thank you again for another glorious episode. The mofug bear dancing was awesome 😎
Shout to Draymond Green with the Davey Boy Smith Chinlock. 😂
Best series on you tube! Period the end no debate!
I felt sorry for Bart Gunn.
I was waiting for that "nice". You didn't let me down.
Great stuff
Is it me or is there an air of ominousness the closer we get to Over the Edge 99?
I don't think I'll feel it until the build
It’s easy to think that, in hindsight.
I really wanted WCW's hardcore division to work... As a kid I was stoooooked on seeing the Sandman in wcw... It just didn't feel right though haha.
Did not expect another Teddy Rubskin shout out, but…here we are.
Gonna be so heart broken when this is all over please think of something else after no matter what it is we are all going to be there
Reliving Thursday nights?
You & both It's been a very good ride so far.
Streets Of Rage! *Swings lead pipe* "Shaddap!"
Nooooooooo.
The unthinkable has happened.
I have caught up on the "Reliving the War" series.
😢😢😢
Dont get me wrong, I am happy to have a new weekly show to look forward to.
That said, when I started 1.5ing these 6 weeks ago, I didnt think I'd actually watch all of these.....or at least so quickly.
Thanks Bios.
Edit: its been a blast and you've done a great job with this series my man.
