Hi Ted! I'm a new collector, and I wanted to say that I've found your videos to be incredibly informative and helpful. Thanks so much for making these!
Very informative, thanks for taking us along. If your permanent residence is in Europe, you might prefer ebay Germany because there are no fees for private sellers. Greets from GER, U.
Yes, I’ve already discovered ebay.de and have favorited a couple of dealers. For that matter, Amazon.de has become my go-to shopping portal. Amazon.es as well as Portuguese online shopping sites, like Worten.pt, won’t ship to Madeira.
I like going to stamp shows. The disadvantage is that, at least in my area there are only 2 a year. The good part is that I can save up and see my favorite, and trusted dealers.
Ordering from the APS store is good. As it's an agglomeration of many different sellers' inventories, they have the broadest selection of stamps even though they rank 5th largest in total inventory. You also have the benefit of shopping from multiple dealers while paying only one shipping fee (although shipping is higher than most dealers). Quality of listings, though, varies widely among the APS dealers, especially in the quality of the images provided. I've also found that, particularly on better quality items, they often have the most reasonable prices.
Sir, first of all, thank you for all this information. Secondly, what’s your opinion on those 500 or 1000 lots , grab bags, on Amazon for 20 bucks or so? I’m brand brand new to the hobby and just want stamps!
I am not fond of anything offered by Mystic. They offer very poor quality stamps. It’s hard for me to tell about any of the other offerings, but you can check the star ratings and the reviews and see what other customers feel about what they received. For obtaining a lot of stamps easily and quickly, and to start learning about the myriad varieties and different countries, this can be a fun adventure. When you read the reviews, look for what they say about quality (are there a lot of dirty, creased, and torn stamps) and duplication. It’s no fun to get a lot of 500 stamps, but find only 40 or 50 different ones that all have 10 to 20 duplicates each.
I am from Sri Lanka. I have a collection of stamps from many countries, even 100,200,300,400 years ago. For example, in many countries like America, China, Pakistan, if you can, please help me sell them.
I'm so sorry. If you have stamps that are 200, 300, and 400 years old, I cannot help you. I have never seen a stamp that old. Your best bet is to find a Facebook group that deals with those.
I guess, to sum it up, that stamp collecting is not dead, just in a coma. It’s not the stamps, it’s the outrageous prices of the accoutrements, I mean $5.00 for 1000 garbage stamp hinges. Give me a break.

Another good, informative Philatelic video ! Thanks Ted !
Thank you.
Thanks for the great info and stamp tour.

It’s been quite a few years since I have been to one. I am eager to go again.
How about the APS section of HipStamp???

Agree…I’ll see what I get. Thx
Hip stamp is great if I'm looking for a specific stamp so is colnect but I still prefer ebay for buying random collections and albums
My stamp purchases are almost exclusively singles and sets and can agree with you there.
I just want postage stamps! 1:10
Hey Ted I have an uncle with some valuable stamps as he says I wanted to see if you can take a look
I'll try to help. You can send some pictures to Ted.Talks.Stamps at gmail
👋
Thank you.
Hipstamp is backed by APS in part
APS moved their APS Stamp Store to the HipStamp platform. After I uploaded the video, I 🤦🏼 realizing I forgot to mention that.
Hello. I have a collection of valuable and rare original stamps from several countries with a long life. Can you help or buy?
I prefer Hipstamp. Easier to use and better deals. I will never buy off ebay again.
Hear, hear.
Hipstamp has higher fees than eBay. For this reason, I offer better deals on my ebay store than on my Hipstamp store.

Hi Ted, good work but I did wonder why ZIllionsOfStamps was not covered? :-)
I never thought of it. Thanks for the reminder.
