Great job Mitch! I just finished building my second ola 5 and thanks to you it was a fun experience! Your video varied from the assembly manual and I found it easier to go along with your video step by step. I've got the vintage build and been using the first one for almost 2 weeks. On the four to one setting for the limiter it works awesome with vocals. That's actually why I decided to try them. I'm going to try them on the stereo vocal bus. I'd love to see a video of you putting together the sound sculptor 5176 compressor.
Thanks Lou! I made these videos hoping they would help the written guides, so that's really awesome to hear. I really like the OLA5 on vocals as well. I think a pair would sound very good on a lot of things, a drum bus would be cool to. I'm actually going to be doing a video on a little hack with the OLA 5 to be able to switch between the vintage and passive mode and also the different ratio settings! Perterson from DIYRE makes some amazing gear and gave me some tips on how to do it. I might have to reach out to sound skulptor to get one. I have been coveting the 5176 of theirs for a while. Jean Pierre makes some great gear too.
Thanks so much. Eventually i want to do an LA2A. We have one at work and it is very nice. You can't faithfully recreate them in 500 series though. You definitely need a rack version. This opto comp is also very good though. I use the Rupert Neve Designs R10 rack for my units at the moment. Only one space left to fill on that bad boy, then I need another one!!
Awesome channel. Keep up the great work :-) Would love some vids for newbies about what capacitators, resistors etc is and how they look. I'm all new to DIY and have no clue where to start.. :-) Also what tools to get, Soldering iron tip thickness, Soldering wire thickness... everything.. lol
This is an awesome Idea. Thanks Erand, sometimes I've got to remember that soem people are starting from scratch, I've added these to the list for some upcoming vids. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@diyrecordingstudio awesome.. Looking so much forward to it. It will be great to have a "one stop shop" instead of looking through tons vids to try to gather the same info.. Great channel. Thank you 😊

Hey Mitch,
Great video series, have you been successful with this hack?
Thanks for the vid, ps, how does this actually connect to the audio interface, computer etc, tia 😃✌️
Hey there, it's in a 500 series rack, that goes to my patchbay, to my interface.
This is so carefully shot and easy to follow. It's a work of art! I would love to build an la2a man that's rad how do you power all your 500 units?
