Kyreu each string has around 150 pounds of tension and there are hundreds of strings though I doubt the still have even half of there original tension
Im a piano technician, and no piano have 50 tons of pull force, they have accually about 18 tons, they have about 250 strings and not all of the strings have the same pull force, so in the end it comes about 18 tones 😊

The sounds they use on the Slow Mo Guys channel are not the original sounds created by their actions, the sounds are edited in from various sources, not even taken from original footage.
I think slow mo sound is actually added after the fact for effect. Real sound slowed down that much drops pitch enough to make sounds unrecognizable.

I just checked and it looks like a functioning piano of this style in good condition is worth about 48000$ I don't know the cost of a brand ne one back in the days but if I had to quess it's around 1500$? I checked an old catalogue and according to it it costs 850$ but without the auto play mechanism it seems

I'm the one wrote you an email recently requesting this test. Good to see how strong grand pianos are. Great video. I'm a concert pianist, this piano would cost maybe $30,000 if it was in mint condition. But the one you shot up should cost even more! Lol

depends on how you calculate the inflation and what year you start from. I assumed the 10k figure was from 1915, since that was the latest year on the piano. I got 258k and change.

Matt, if it were fully restored an antique piano of this type sold recently for 48,000 dollars. It’s a grand piano with a 1930s style auto-player called AMPICO.
How much restoration did it need though? The cost to bring his piano back to prime could have been too high to be worth it.
I know exactly dick about pianos, but I can 100% guarantee this could have been restored for great profit, it would have cost alot but would still make plenty if money.
