    Good to see an update on the line. The last time I was in Korumburra, they just started laying the gravel for the Rail Trail.

    i seem to remember seeing rollingstock along part of the line when in a car following part of the line heading vaguely back from Korumburra towards Drouin so it might be worth a look

    Old mate.
    As a train & rail enthusiast my self let me start out by saying Ive just found ( stumbled ) on your channel & well done.
    So Im a comms network engineer & approximately 3 years ago I was doing some work at the Nyora Post Office & I took a some time to go & have a look at the Nyora station all be a very sad sight that it was.
    At that stage it was not long after the SGR tourist railway had closed & there was still line & rolling stock there.
    Its so sad to see all thos history lost since when are governments about making profit V's providing a service to the public.
    There are so many closed / abandoned lines throughout Victoria its incredible.
    Its such a shame to see thoes beautiful K class engines just sitting there rusting away when they could still be saved.
    My work regularly takes me up into the yarra valley up past the Yarra Glen & Healesville stations again just more sad sights.
    Thank God the Mornington tourist railway is still running, having done a lot of growing up on tje peninsula it makes me wonder how mucg longer the Stoney Point line will run for.
    There usee to be a branch line going to Balnarring not sure if there is any reminisce of this left or not now its been a very long time.
    I also remember seeing trains run on the Mansfield line many moons ago another sad loss.
    Anyway I could go on & on keep up the great work.
    Rgs
    Wayne.

      Thanks for that Wayne! Absolutely right! Many abandoned railways in Melbourne, seeing a beautiful railway like the SGR abandoned is sad, but that’s what makes it special now! Hopefully makes a come back!

      Thanks for the reply@@Victorian_steam yeah we can always hope but im not holding my breath, have you ever thought of doing a trip down to look at the Bairnsdale to Orbost rail & the beutiful old bridges before they are all gone there is some incredible rail history down there.
      I really would like to go down there one day myself I think it would make a great video, all be you'd have to over night not sure you could do it & return in 1 day, its a 9hr return druve from Melbourne.
      Rgs
      Wayne.

    I was able to get into the Nyora turntable during winter but when I swung by over the weekend it was basically impossible to actually get in as the grass was fully overgrown and would definitely have snakes in it

    The Council has completely stuffed up the SGR. They used to have a VOLUNTEER organization called "SGTR" that ran the train from Korumburra to Leongatha. Until The SG Council stuffed everyone up in 2016 and then the council got even more greedy and stuffed up Coal Creek Museum!!

    • @Victorian_steam
      @Victorian_steam  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was a lack of volunteers and funding which stopped the railway! Coal creek is still doing well!

    • @sucanj1982
      @sucanj1982 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Actually, my father and I were volunteering at the time the SGC screwed over SGTR (and Steph who was running the volunteering at Korumburra Station), afterwards SGC started selling buildings and dispersing the volunteers at Coal Creek causing its current position. (I was actually there when this was happening mate). I still know a few people at Korumburra who are upset by all this!
