I had a CS01 in the 80’s and actually used it with a strap at top 40 cover club gigs for a while, this thing sounds better from what I remember (we didn’t have digital effects back then like today).

I have been curious about it for about a week, but finally decided to buy it and give it a go. Looks really good both for instant nostalgia and for sound design for us novices who are learning it. Thanks for the great overview, Patrick!

‘They’ve taken on all the features of the Yamaha CS01..” I’m just waiting for my CS01 keyboard body strap to arrive! 😂 Great video buddy 🎉

This one was right up my alley and an instant purchase. On my to-do list: (1) Try using the side-chain with another track in Logic instead of the built-in pulse on every beat. (2) Try controlling the VCA and VCF with a MIDI CC to see if it will be able to work with a breath controller the was the CS01 could. But must stay focused on completing my current project before getting side-tracked by this. 😅

Nice and I definitely recognise a few of those presets. So much for my 'don't buy any synths for awhile' mantra. 😁

Seems damn cool… not the only synth you’ll need but the only one you’d need to reach for half the time. I’m a tad torn as Bleass Voices also out but i dont feel like dropping forty sheets today 😂
If this synth had a 12/18/24 db switch on the filter… i’d snap it up now. I’m sure i’ll get cold sweats and buy it by Sunday evening though.

I’m very much learning the possibilities of music making on the iPad, so without further ado, are apps like this accessible from external MIDI keyboard controllers (assuming suitable audio interface of course).

Absolutely! Just attach your midi controller and you’re good to go!

Thank you for the video! I'm picking this up right away! I haven't seen something covered yet, and I'm curious to know if an external keyboard or pads can be used along with Logic Pro on an iPad.

Yes, absolutely, though be aware that global MIDI mapping isn't available yet (can't map knobs or buttons).

Oh yeah! I have a lot of iOS synths but this is definitely in the right ballpark for me sound wise. It would fit right in to my current productions.

@@TheGaragebandGuide every time I quit GarageBand and then reload the track with King of FM those tracks are silent.
I have to re-open all individual instances of KOFM to get them to play.
Not a deal-breaker as the synth sounds so good but somewhat infuriating.

Here's what I hate about Logic Pro for iPad and using 3rd party plugins....many ppl who will use LP for iPad will already be using (and own) LPX on Mac. plugin companies like waves, Baby Audio and Fab Filter are CASHING IN on this, because if you already own their plugins for desktop/Mac OSX, you don't want to have to BUY THEM AGAIN to use on iPad. At the very least, 3rd party companies should offer a MINIMUM 50% discount for those who currently own their desktop plugins to buy the iOS versions, and going forward, offer a full package to buy at a discount.
I HATE that we have to buy these plugins again to use them on iPad, its seriously making me re-consider even using Logic Pro on iPad at all, and just get a MacBook Air running OSX instead. same price for a MacBook Air as it is for a new iPad Pro anyway and you don't have to repurchase any plugins.
    anyway, thanks for the vid

it probably does make sense for you to stick to desktop if that form factor suits you best.
discounts & bundles would be great.
but i think the goal of LP for iPad is to introduce Logic to a brand new user base who may not even consider desktop, more than to serve desktop users on the go.

I stopped getting iOS VSTs for my iPad, since the battery drains down to 15% within minutes, then takes a week to 100% recharge. I see how "superior" Apple are to Windows, though...
iPads are only good for checking the weather -- provided you glance at it quickly then shut it down at once.

Is your ipad really old? I have a 5 year old ipad and a 1 year old ipad, both last for several hours, and only take about an hour to charge… I use my ipad for making music, drawing, graphic design work, streaming videos, listening to spotify, and tons of other things. I can use it for about 90% of the things I need to do as a freelance photographer and a musician, and only need to open my MacBook for really intensive work on photoshop or illustrator, or to use ableton live. I feel like maybe you have a lemon, but this certainly isn’t true of all iPads.
