    There are other videos on similar fixes but this method is least trouble - using the clamp with temporary glue (I used superglue) is very good as it gives a good base on which to place the epoxy afterwards. - it's holding for me so far - will use it again if needed - laptop is about 2 years old so hopefully will keep it going until upgrading in future

    I blame myself for opening the lid from the left side only, and I see now that over time this stressed the mechanism on the right. I was concerned about this since it broke yesterday and so grateful to find your helpful video. Have some hope now! (I have the Lenovo 7i and paid 1,600CHF for it 2 years ago)

    I had this happen to me about 2 years ago, and it was covered under warrenty, back then I searched aruond if this was a common problem but couldn't really find anything (or I didn't look hard enough) now my laptop is out of warrenty and I got the feeling the hinge is around to break the exact same way again. it's kinda pathetic that this is what it has come to legit gluing the hinge back, come on fix your shit lenovo...

    • @VincesDIYs

      The hinge is stiff to hold up the screen. I think the problem is with the weakness of how the hinge is attached to the lid.

      Dell is trash, who serializes batteries (wanted to get aftermarket one, too bad, OEM only).
      Acer is a meme brand and often has problem with hinges, thermals and pretty much everything.
      Literally threw Asus laptop out recently, since hinges fucked up as well.
      HP tend to have bad build quality, are very anti-consumer (printer ink subscription 💀).
      MSI has terrible customer support in case you want warranty fixes, etc. Plus entry level laptops are basically e-waste.
      Anything else are office laptops, literal devil (Apple, Microsoft), very expensive or meme brands.

One of them Lenovo said broke the motherboard (how?) so it would be hundreds to repair. Would not recommend, very poor quality.

    A few questions. Is your epoxy sticking to the plastic bezel after this repair? I do want to be able to remove the bezel later in case I need to fix another hinge or replace the screen. Also, why did you choose to use super glue under the hinge? Is epoxy there a bad choice? Did the repair hold up? I plan to attempt this repair this weekend. Thanks for the video!

    • @VincesDIYs
      @VincesDIYs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have not tried but I think the bezel will come off. You could also put on grease or wd40 on the bezel to keep it from sticking. I used super glue to temporarily attach the hinge while the epoxy set. The other hinge broke since and I did it without the super glue and that worked fine. Just don’t use too much epoxy.

  • @Withir
    @Withir 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This method doesn't apply to Lenovo Legion 7i non slim version. I've tried this method and during removing the screen bezel I damaged my screen. The repair was costly. The hinge itself would be a lot cheaper. The repair guy told me that my laptop cannot be disassembled like shown in the video.

    • @VincesDIYs
      @VincesDIYs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know. But this is a common issues with many current Lenovo laptops.

    • @ytrandomname
      @ytrandomname 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really? I did this method on mine but only removed the corner part of the bezel needed for repair, not all of it like on the video, one side at the time because both came off. Still hesitant about the epoxy since there is less free space around the hinge, and there is a little thing attached to it on the screen side that I have no idea what it is, so I couldn't take it off completely, only lifted it a little bit to apply the super glue. The super glue is holding fine for now.

  • @BegoneJonah
    @BegoneJonah 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    My Idea Pad Flex 5 is only two years and two months old; two months out of Costco's warranty. The hinge is causing problems with the screen's pixels and pulling the screen apart.
    In the past twenty years I've used nine different laptops - this is the *only* one I've encountered with mechanical problems. This laptop is Chinese crap! Get a better-quality laptop! (HP has a better hinge system that runs across the width of the screen - and my wife's Apple lasted ten years.)
