    Yummy! I love thinly sliced dehydrated fruits like pineapple. The way to tell if a pineapple is ripe is by pulling on the centermost leaf. If you tug on it and it slips out easily and the pineapple is yellow in color, then the sugars are concentrated enough and it's ready to eat.🍍

    If you put the leafy top in water. It will rejuvenate and make a nice plant, just leave some of the pineapple on it, instead of breaking it off. Grat video. 🙂

    Nice job! I would definitely want to preserve the bromelain. I Watched a video by an eye Doctor Who talked about a study where people ate 50 g to 100 g of pineapple every day for 90 days and got rid of lots of their floaters. Due to the bromelain.

    Glad to hear your pineapple took 2 days.. mine took 3 days at 120 degrees. But they are still rubbery.. my strawberries same.. When I hear the ‘click’ of the pineapple as it’s dropped into the jar.. I’m jealous.. mine didn’t. They are very sticky feeling too. I tested one.. but I tasted tin.. I used canned in juice pineapple.

    Love your easy going down to the facts videos. I am wondering if you condition your pineapple to make sure it’s dry? Assuming not since your jars are packed too tight to shake? I’m interested in long term storage… how long do you think these can last if vacuum sealed? Thanks!

    • @FermentedHomestead
      @FermentedHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t simply because they are too tasty and they never last very long 😂 if they are conditioned and vacuum sealed with a dry dry pack in them I think they’d last years, if they’re exposed to light it would degrade faster but you’d still get a good while on them.

    There is a shortage of dehydrated pineapple in the Houston Texas area, and really insanely expensive if you can find them ($2.36 OZ). Just a few batches of homemade dehydrated pineapple will pay for the dehydrator. Also the store bought ones have been laced with plenty of sugar. How do they taste without the sugar? I guess if it is not sweet enough I can always add artificial sweetener. Planning on purchasing a dehydrator in the near future to make trail mix for my wife and I to snack on.

      @@FermentedHomestead in addition to close ups, showing us what it looks like in between at certain intervals: like every 12 hrs. Esp when you said the mandolin slices were done quickly. We didn't see them at all. The rings you put in a jar... we're they snap crisp, bendy? Still moist? Can't tell from distance of camera.
      You spent a lot of time showing the cutting of all 5 pineapple... which kinda wasn't necessary after we see the different slices... and then no time at all showing finished product that was going in Jars so we actually didn't see anything of the dehydrating process and looks of fruit.
      So showing us what they look like, snapping them so we hear what sound should be like and even dropping piece in counter is majorly helpful. When we've never done it, we know nothing.
      Thanks
      I did one pineapple and I did it off n on for few days and finally put in fridge cuz it just seemed that multiple days was too long.
      Now I realize it does take that long.

    Did you know if you take a pineapple that's not dried out the leaves, you pull a few layers of leaves off and then put it all n to a jar of water like a Mayo jar.
    Let it get roots then plant it and make sure you fertilize it in spring and summer.
    Let grow and you'll get your own pineapple fruit.
    It will not be as big but!! It will be very sweet and your plant will keep making more fruit.
    So your never buying it again.
