I never disliked this song, but the verse always makes me think he was listening to PJ's Black when he wrote it. The melody just sounds hauntingly similar (not the words, the melody used)
A lot of what they did was Pearl Jam inspired. The lead singer even copied the climbing of the stage lights at the live shows. I saw them a few times live and it was entertaining if you were a PJ fan... especially back in the 90s when you couldn't see PJ shows on youtube and trying to get good tickets was next to impossible... but it was kind of a bummer that they weren't more original.
I have to admit before just now I did not know the name of this song or the band who plays it, but I can “sing” along for some strange reason. Ok, a long time ago in a galaxy far away I think you used to differentiate between Cadd9 and C9. Are they basically one in the same? Really it is of zero consequence but those were 2 chords I never could keep straight in my head. And if those 2 chords are just Cadd9 it will probably free up space for me to continue to contemplate the horror of Rolling Rock changing to a peal-able label on their green beer bottles. ;)
C9 is the evolution chorus chord - Cadd9 is the one in question here. C9 has a 7 in it as well (as do all odd numbered additions greater than 7 without an "add" in the name, I believe, more research needs to be done) miss poopadoop will be back someday with this video...
