Wrong. The original melody is from Irving Berlin. The song is called "Puttin on the Ritz". Nat Simon composed "Istanbul Not Constantinople" with very similar, almost identical melody but did not realize that or stole it. Nobody knows.
I almost expected that guitar to start smoking and burst into flames at the beginning. That might be the most energetic acoustic guitar solo I've ever heard. I have a tendency to prefer the studio version to live performances. But I love this one. I has some serious energy as well as some fun playing with the line delivery.
Tom Joad to be fair it’s been a while since the studio version. This performance from the 90’s in more like how it is on Flood: th-cam.com/video/JeQ-wjDH4F4/w-d-xo.html
@@tomjoad1363 Believe me they do have the voice power live... It's obviously much harder to mix it well for a TV show compared to a studio single version.
@@tomjoad1363 I agree, this was not their best rendition of the song. They seemed a bit lackluster here. I just saw them a month ago, and they were much much better with this song. They were also playing for a much bigger audience. So, it's good to know that they haven't lost their energy.

Son cover 1990 yılında they might be giants tarafından yapılmıştır.
I first heard thus in Umbrella Academy and absolutely loved the song, as well as They Might Be Giants. I agree entirely with the commenter who said he usually liked studio recordings of songs. However, in the case of this song and band, their live recording of this song is far superior to the studio version. Also the acoustic guitar playing this song certainly should have begun to smoke as a result of the speed of the player. I had never heard this song before Umbrella Academy used it, and I just loved it. Bah-boom! And then, as a guitar player and lead singer from rock bands before joining the military. Irrespective, I still played and sang, but I left my "rock star" image far behind me for good reason. They Might Be Giants blow this song up live, and turn this song into an anthem for live music being incredibly storming and incendiary music that inspires players like into picking up our instruments again. This was just completely fantastic. Loved it.
Great song, fun and witty! And if you need to trim your nails, well...at least on one hand... play the acoustic guitar like the guy plays it in the intro! wowy! Loved it!
But, that wouldn't have happened if Leonard wouldn't have stolen Reginald's book and shown Vanya she had powers. So, Leonard was also part of the problem
Yeah that's true. But what if Reginald (sry idk how to spell his name) helped Vanya control her powers instead of locking her up. Is he the the cause of the apocalypse? What do u think Spider Møøn ||-//
One of the best covers of all time. Originally from 1953. Written on the 500th year anniversary of Constantinople falling to the Ottomans.

I really like the studio version and felt very dissapointed with this one... They have no voice power unlike the studio version.

Holy moly, the whole song was perfect but that jam session at the end was mind blowing. Each of these dudes are incredible at what they do.
Everytime I watch they might be giants it's like watching a master of their craft display their talent flawless and effortlessly with such a calm face
Istanbul! Not Constantinople! Remember!
0:50 - is it me, or did he just play the riff to Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time???
He did
He did! It was awesome!
Eh not quite but it’s super similar
I'm pretty sure it's just that the intro sounds like it
I SWEAR he just did. And my life is now completely complete.
Oh my god Doctor Who is a nice keyboardist.
John Linnell for the 16th doctor!!
