How to BLJ "consistently". Stream Highlight.

This is what I do, and a person in chat asked about it (and further confirmed it helped), but I am by no means saying this is a better method of BLJing. Only works on N64 and its emulations. This will not work on the updated N64 version either, the one that includes rumble aka the “shindou” version, as it was patched out. Thanks for the question!

It makes perfect sense though. When Mario jumps straight backwards, it gives him increased vertical speed, which is bad and makes the timing harder. when he is at an angle, he will hit the stair hit box sooner, which allows you jump sooner, which allows your button mashing to catch on more consistently.
This is why BLJs are hard to start but easy to finish, once you have that momentum slamming you into the stairs, its just a matter of how much you can smash
