I believe the reason you warped to Wet-Dry World is because of a Negative jump since wet-dry world is pretty much below the infinite starts. Jumps in SM64's Height Depends on the HSPD of the player and the more the speed, the higher you'll go. If you have a ton of Negative Speed and jump, It will make you jump downwards and this negative jump could've taken you to wet-dry world.
