There is always one in every crowd. You do realize that Charlie and Kieth spent 60 years together. And that Jones and Richards had a big falling out. Maybe they were a lot closer do you think?
I grew up with this band 1962-onwards; how lucky can it get. I loved them and their music back then and ever since .. none of the band HAVE to continue making music, but they do cos they love it, and their fans appreciate them big-time. What a time to be alive during the Rolling Stones era ❤🎉⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏽😃🙋♀️🤩😎🥳🥳🥳
Most rockers can pick out Clapton, or Beck, Hendrix, etc just by hearing a few guitar riffs. Charlie Watts was one of the few drummers that had a signature sound. When you hear his beat, and especially when he does those fills, you just know it's Charlie!
I hope Howard starts doing more in-person interviews... he connects with his guests regardless but I find him at his best when he's there with the guest.
Besides Keith, Charlie is one of my fave Rolling Stone members. One of the coolest cats ever to play the drums. He is so dearly missed. He is the special beat to the band. So unique and original. ❤ ♥️ 🥁 😇 ♾️
Charlie gave the Stones his blessing to continue with Steve Jordan when he passed at 80. Mick is 80. Keith turns 80 December 18th. This album and tour is probably their swan song. They do it because they love it.
Did not know Charlie Watts was a professional. Same story with Ringo Starr. Is it any coincidence that both the Stones and the Beatles had a rock solid drummer to keep the rhythm as they became as big as they did?
Rock and roll is dead now . Thanks to the corporate greed and the 99 cents burgers ..thanks for the good times . Rest in peace rock and roll it was fun while it lasted
idk is drumming the part of music that has the least personality? the way a drummer plays or what they add to a piece don't obviously stand out as much to me as other playas
Drummers are the most important members of any band. If they are not steady with good tempo the whole band suffers. Charlie was not a pounder,he came from jazz background. That being said, you'll notice charlie didn't play alot of fills. Less is more.
I play multiple instruments and have done so in many bands. A drummer is the most important element of the band. It's all in the feel, the swing, the beat. Two drummer can play the exact same beat and one will make the song, while the other can ruin it. A different drummer makes or breaks the band's sound.
Sure, you want a "good" drummer. What I was asking is which kind of music-making has the most and least personality, sounds the most and least individuated. I thought maybe singer and guitarist has more personality than drums even if the drums are "good".@@dmo8768

Keit& richards no×
Keith looks incredibly healthy. So happy to see that he's still young at heart.
He gave up cigarettes
He has an army behind him...advising and counseling him.
Looks pretty sharp
Keith genuinely seemed emotional talking about Charlie. You can tell how much he respects him and his legacy.
He did. It's clear.
Wish he responded and emoted some feelings for Brain Jonees.

Charlie watts was a great drummer & friend to Keith they spent close to a century together how bout that mate.🥁
It's pretty clear the love and admiration that Keith has for Charlie. He was a rock solid time keeper, and human being! RIP Mr. Watts
Charlie played with a special feel that just isn't there anymore. He really was the heartbeat of the Stones' music.
“Silence is the canvas” 🥂 Thank you for this clip 🙏
‘ when you make music; silence is your canvas ‘
Brilliant. Keith and Charlie were groove masters
"Silence is your canvas." Brilliant.
Keith is so bright and thoughtful. Love him.

That was really cool to hear him talk about Charlie...What a great working relationship...
Keith opening his heart about music and his mates, as a life long fan (65 years) thank you.
Keith looks better than I've ever seen him . And sounds great too.

Very true.
As does Ringo. Unmistakable.
@@BigSky1 was going to say that, but didnt want to start the beatles/stones thing.hahaha
@@mikewood9514 I know what you mean.
@@BigSky1 hahahaha. Have a good one.
Charlie is the GOAT of all time Rock and Roll and RNB drumming. Textbook of a great drummer.
I love that Howard did this interview "in-studio" with both of them together.
Howard in his studio. What an unfortunate rarity these days.
@@Keystone75what’s he been doing instead?
Am 60. Remember hearing Honky Tonk Women when I was 7 in the Bronx, and digging it.
Charlie Watts had class and maturity
We all better start thinking about what kind of world we’re going to leave for Keith. ✊🏻♥️
God bless you, Charlie and Keith
Keith, you two were highly cultured. Tasteful. And incredibly talented and a great team. We always need a buddy to lean on.
Charlie was such a class act
Loved CHARLIE 😍
Perfect tribute
What a great human character of our time. More to him. More of him.
What a quote..if you're making music, silence is your canvas..blank sheet of paper
If you're making music, silence is your canvas.
Charlie Watts the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones RIP
Charlie was the soul of that band. Remembering him evokes that.
I hope Howard starts doing more in-person interviews... he connects with his guests regardless but I find him at his best when he's there with the guest.
Since when did Howard start going into the studio? Is this the SiriusXM NYC studios?
I thought Howard lived in Florida now ?
YA WANNA START A BAND, IT STARTS WITH THE BEAT....RIP CHARLIE!
Beautiful ❤ real connection here 👍🏼⭐️
Howard is really good at pulling out the goods from his guests. Great interview!

Great stuff. These little snippets of interviews are fabulous!
As a guitarist I find the older I get the more I appreciate how important the drummer is in a band
Keith talking about a great drummer from a great band. Kudos to all the stones.
Charlie wasn’t are up with fame. His playing reflected his demeanor. COOL as a cucumber.I miss him .
Keith looks the best he has in years
Must be the sober life or maybe it’s coming to 80
It’s amazing
We all miss charlie
Charlie Watts is unreplacecable for the Stones.
True.... very true. But they did get the best they could have gotten now with Steve Jordan... Blues Brother.... groove master.
Keith actually said that years ago
@@electricurinalcompletely agree. As hard as it was to replace Charlie, Steve was the perfect choice
Bill Wyman as well. Vastly underrated.

Keith Richards sure been round the course a few times more than most & has come out pretty wise.
Silence is your canvas, deep.
Keith a huge part of the the stones one of the greatist groups ever.
Keith❤
‘Silence is your canvas”
a cliche, but true
No Charlie,no party!!!
So nice to see Howard back in the studio finally
You know he gets a bit emotional when talking about Charlie to the point that he had to remove his shades.
Yes, and I also had the feeling he did that out of respect.
Handsome Keith Richards 🥰
Legend.
Great interview Howard.
Keith is sooo wisdomful
😊 awesome still great band. Charlie Watts was our click track 🎸
We miss you Charlie and. I am sure your band mates do too you were with them a long time rip Charlie watts
o shit! Howard's getting the biggest stars for interviews!
In terms of rock and roll dance music, Charlie was the best drummer. He was also a fine jazz player.
Charley was the engine of the stones.
Howard back in the studios
As I always say, The Drummer Makes the Band
Class
He does look younger then 20 years ago. And naturally
The Stones💪🇺🇸
I am not a stones fan, but love charlie watts
Howard's esteemed guests should sit at the same elevation as Howchy.
Keith is looking fit and healthy....nice to see!
Stern asks AND answers the questions, that's some interviewing technique.
keith continues to defy the laws of human biology. a real human moment for him when the topic of charlie came up.
Looking forward hackney diamonds Oct 20 release date
Ya know, the great Dizzy Gillespie once said "Put a pause in your song, and some music might fall out.". I think that's what Keith's referring to.
👍👍🤘🤘
❤
Was Howard in studio for this interview? or was this just done with trick photography?
Did not know Charlie Watts was a professional. Same story with Ringo Starr. Is it any coincidence that both the Stones and the Beatles had a rock solid drummer to keep the rhythm as they became as big as they did?
Podia falar sobre Brian Jones também
Haha Howard has 3 of his books in the shot when he has a guest, hilarious. Im surprised Robin didnt ask for the same thing.
imaagine charlie on the show
Stern lately is keeping Robin out of the frame
Keith really loved Charlie.. it’s very obvious
About the only time I have heard him say any thing nice about another musician!!
Howard tends to put words in his guests mouth.
True. He's improved as an interviewer, but he tends to lead his guests too much instead of just letting them speak.
His ego is bigger than Keith's, easily.
He does?
Question. Why does howard play the songs from the new Album?! I dont want to hear them yet....
Whos ldyk?
Listened to the whole thing. He still can’t admit Bonham was the best of all time.
Geez!
Rad
Love Keith but Howard...

You can have the best guitarist, bass player, and singer in the world. If the drummer isn't any good, the band isn't any good.
