  • Browse the Rolling Stones catalogue on Google Play, including the exclusive concert recordings featured in this documentary: goo.gl/4LvDC
    To help celebrate the launch of Music in Google Play, the Rolling Stones hand-selected six unreleased (but widely bootlegged) concerts from their archives and oversaw pristine new mixes for each one. Mick and Keef also sat down in front of our cameras to discuss why they chose the ones they did. So not only can you watch them reminisce about the "great sloppiness" of their '70s gigs, the amazing way Keith's Telecaster stayed in tune even after he used it to take down an aggressive fan in '81, or why they love kicking off arena tours with more intimate club shows -- you can also hear how well the concerts themselves match those memories.
    The complete set showcases the evolution of the band from preternaturally gifted blues fanatics who learned their licks in sweaty, crowded bars to world-dominating superstars who somehow still sound like the best club band the world will ever know even when filling enormodomes.

      Yes, but sadly, his age for last several years really prevented him from playing as he did in the past. But, I give him credit for keeping busy in the same way Sylvester Stallone's movie "Rocky Balboa" portrayed the aging title character as not letting go of what he valued despite his age. It was a decent movie, but not entirely realistic, of course. Les Paul (RIP) and Keith provide a real example of sticking w what makes life worthwhile in the midsts of the limitations time brings to us all eventually. Good on them.

    Favorite band. Keef’s my favorite musician ever. Total likable, badass, original. His riffs, open G tuning, nasally telecaster tone helped make Rock & Roll. Really listen to his rhythms.. he epitomizes blues rock rhythm guitar. Don’t ignore his lead licks either. Legend🌹

    There's always been something about the English rock bands that caught my ear when I was in grade school during the 1960's and as early as first grade when I heard songs like Satisfaction or Get Off Of My Cloud or the Kinks You Really Got Me, All Day & All Of The Night, The Beatles You Really Got A Hold On Me or Bad Boy Junior Behave Your Self, those rhythm's in those songs just grabbed your attention and to this day they just won't let me go to date in a good way. I saw the Stones when I was 15 years old in 1975 - I saw the Kinks 1977 and the Stones 1989 Steel Wheels and I when I hear Mick & Keith reminisce about the 1975 tour among other things I have the same memories coming from a fans stand point listing to their music changing and evolving from the Brian Jones, Mick Taylor and Ron Wood era and it's all good. Following the Rolling Stones for a life time just makes me glad that I'm still around to enjoy it and for their beginning here until the end and still doing what they do best ! Excellent Glimmer Twins Retrospect .

      I tend to believe Bill Wyman about the Stones beginnings, there is a video he answers those questions and more on here somewhere. Like there now being a placard placed at the train station where Mick and Keef met all those years back and Mick had the stack of Blues albums, Bill gets pretty upset and says if they were going to be truthful they would have that plaque removed. I believe what he has to say about it. That it was Brian's and Ian's Band in the beginning.

    When Keith talks about the "transference of energy" that goes on between the band and audience, I can really relate to that. I've been to so many concerts where you can feel the energy, extreme and raw, and you throw it up to the band. The band starts adding licks and jamming more and it really gets intense. Many times I've looked over at somebody during a concert who's up and dancing like I am and we lock eyes. We both know that we're both experiencing the exact same moment together and FEEL it. No other band was as good at this as the Rolling Stones. You can tell immediately if Mick or Keith is really feeling it.

  • @anon2131
    @anon2131 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ...And Keith's also a good dad and has been a loyal husband to just 2 main loves of his life, despite all the pressures of being a Rolling Stone, touring, long absences from home etc. And being a brilliant musician, song writer, showman etc in his own right, but overshadowed by the glamourous show pony front man, Mick. But, some of us fans have a bit of musical discernment and can also hear the skill etc of other members of a great band, not just focus only on the obvious goal point, the lead vocalist. You're great, Keef. Keep on rocking, playing those heart wrenching blues licks and stuff. You're like a living, walking riff...Reaches deep into my sad soul...Love your music.

      I've noticed that too and not only in this clip. It must be because it's about making music, which is the only thing that's really important to him, while most of the time he's asked about things like his relationship with Jagger, money, sex and drugs (abuse). Important for Public Relations, but not what he got into music for.

      Watch 'under the influence'. It's like this all the time. The muddy waters references and all that. He can't stop talking about them :D Even when it's not even in the question haha.
      He loves to ramble on I think he was much more shy in his heydays because he was drugged up and really didn't want to be seen or spoken to. He's always been shy you can tell in 'Life'. It's because of his childhood.

    • @3DPeter
      @3DPeter 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      In his younger years he was always stoned, high or drunk or all at the same time, but i'm sure that the drug years are over for at least 15 years or so,
      and drink less booz than before, because you can't do drugs and booz forever. So he did sober up alright and we can even understand what he says
      these days. Well, even the bad ass aren't such a bad ass when they grow older, and there's nothing wrong with that, and that's i like keith more than before,
      because he changed from a "i don't give a fuck" atitude to a great guy that does give a fuck about life, family, so his story wil be one with a happy end for sure.

Had a crazy experience that same tour at the Spectrum in Philadelphia trying to get tickets there . It was a mob scene with helmeted police on horses and on foot . For some insane reason they were selling tickets out of one ticket window. Anyway after hours of being squished in this crowd and only being two or three people away from the ticket window these cops come and yank me out of line . I was furious and turned around to look at them. I knew if I took one step towards them they beat the hell out of me . They had their billy clubs all ready. So I turned back around left went down town to a department store where I knew I could get Leon Russell tickets and I did .
    Another funny part about it when leaving the department store I bought a Bhagavad Gita for $5 from some Krishna dancers . It was a wild day .
    Ended up seeing them at MSG because a girl I knew had an extra ticket for me.
    Fun memories after all of these years 🙏👌☮️😊

      The Stones had to have known they were being recorded for the Brussels Affair gig because it is a soundboard show. And BTW - why hasn't that show been officially released as a single CD yet? It's the best live concert recording I've heard from them.

    I've been a hard core Stones fan for about 40 years and thought this was an excellent documentary. Mick and Keith both seem very candid and they each offer a lot of insightful and interesting information. It's cool to hear a few of their thoughts and opinions on some of the idiosyncracies of what it's like to be a Stone, produce & perform such huge concerts, determinig set lists, etc. Thanks for posting.

    16:53 Roundhay Park at Leeds 1982 brings back memories.....i was there!! Tickets just £20 ($26). Weather was great all day but yeah....masses of people. Support band was George Thorogood & the Destroyers. I'd never heard of him but he strutted out on stage, white Gibson with gold plated fittings, jeans and stacked heel snakeskin boots. I juts thought, "oh God here we go what a flash sod, bet he's crap"......then he launched into guitar riffs that just blew me away, and kept going one song after another. Soon as i got back home i phoned around local record shops asking if they had any GTD albums (remember this was back in the good ol' days of vinyl!). I found just one album in one shop and raced over to buy it. I asked the store owner if GTD had done any other albums, which he had.....so i ordered the lot! Seen George a few times since he often came over to UK.

    Nice to hear Keith talking about playing with Brian. I know Brian was quite difficult at times to work/be with but it’s refreshing to hear the positive things for a change. I like all 3 guitarists in their own right. Keith is smart enough to let them excell where he doesn’t. That’s why this band has lasted so long and yeah cause of Charlie too. Of course. Lol

    Mick's amazing today in concert. I was going to say 'for his age' but even if he was in his 20s, to cover the stage, dance and sing he puts younger bands to shame. He's a medical miracle. To be nearly 73 and still be so energetic is amazing. He obviously works out and takes good care of his health nowadays, has cut out smoking etc. He sounds better live now than he did in the 70s. All of them are trailblazers, why should they stop now? If they couldn't put on a decent show, yeah they should quit, but they are better than ever. In my opinion anyway.

    I'd forgotten that "Start Me Up" was the first song I ever played to a crowd in (an excuse for) a band. I was 16, and it was at the Lilac Festival in Lisbon, NH. Me and my brothers and sister were SO glad when our Mom told us we were moving back to Connecticut! Nowadays I can appreciate the White Mountains much more then back then.

    Talk is cheap tour, Philly. Was working in Atlantic City. Discovered Keith was staying at the four seasons hotel.
    The elevator opened. Me and two friends (early 20’s) “Keith!!”. Two massive security guards hold their arms forward. Keith puts his hand on one of their arms and says, “let em go”. Signed autographs and spent a good 15 minutes with us. Incredibly kind man.
