    Thank you for running your business this way, your videos and tools have saved me a lot of frustration over the years. I'd love to see a video about your manufacturing.

    The how-to videos are pithy, easy to understand and enjoyable to watch. I have greatly improved my bike repair abilities thanks to the videos. I would like to say congratulations to Calvin for his extensive time at Park Tool.

    As usual - GOOD JOB! I am a 59 year old bike mechanic (on the side) and own so many tools most being Park Tool®. Thanks Park Tool®

    Its amazing how far the industry, and the need for specialized tools, has come since 2004, when i received my free Park Tool roll from Bicycling Magazine. (Still have it all, btw!) Im having a hard enough time keeping up with what the tools are FOR, never mind getting the tools.
    I think im just going to have to accept being "stuck in an era".

    Your awesome videos are the main reason I tend to buy your tools over cheaper options. It is so nice they are freely available for everyone and not locked down in some subscription service etc. Not only do I get to to support you in making the videos, I get top notch tools that make working on my bike fun. Thanks!

    Am I the only one disappointed to find out that Calvin wasn't born into Park Tools? Everytime I see a park tool, I'm thinking of how Calvin would use it. #ParkToolLegend

    Hey guys, I sure that Eric wears a lot of hats, and Calvin does everything (including mopping the floors), but I'm curious to know how large the video team is at Park Tool? I'm just amazed by how clear they are, and specialized to bike repair and knowledge. How many video folks do you have behind the camera?

      We have two full-time video guys who shoot and edit everything we produce, as well as collaborating with Calvin and Truman on scripting and preproduction.

    No other company gives as much after sales support as Park Tool... also, damn those threaded bottom bracket manufacturers for their minuscule engagement, and thank you Park Tool for creating a solution. I will be ordering one of these.

    Please develop a more comfortable to use Presta valve core tool. Possibly like a flexible screwdriver if done with a spring for the shaft it would prevent over torqueing. The small tools currently available are constantly dropped or lost by my mechanics. I find it odd there's no shop level ergonomic Presta core tool.

    The tire plug shouldn't ever be left sticking out of the tire. It should be trimmed flush with the tire carcass so as not to be pulled out when back in service. Tire plug tools should include a razor blade/knife for trimming.

    I wonder if the DCA will be helpful in measuring rim wear? Rim brakes also wear rims unevenly. After a few thousand miles the rim will have concave shape, which is hard to check using a regular tool.

    Could you offer some guidance on how to become a professional bicycle mechanic, like certification requirements, (or other requirements...?), and how to get hired at a bike shop?

    • @arbjful
      @arbjful 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to be handy with tools, if you are comfortable working with tools, then it should be fine. Apart from this some basic knowledge of bike maintenance, some knowledge of bike parts. Fault diagnosis is another aspect that you should focus on. Most LBS have small staff, so more skills you have better it is for the LBS.

    Park tools are generally very good. My only beef is their premature discontinuation of tools based on, I think, the assumption that the bikes that require them have all gone out of service. Because of this, bringing vintage and classic bikes back to life often requires looking elsewhere for tools. I understand Park can't keep making everything, but given the effort they make to keep brake bleed kits up to date, you would think they would be aware that a lot of people are newly interested in older bikes, and we do NOT already have the tools required to keep them in service.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We are well aware that millions of old bikes out there still on the roads, and we do what we can to keep a broad lineup of tools available. At a certain point, however, it comes down to numbers. In purely hypothetical terms: if our stamper has a 2,000 unit minimum, and we sold 300 of a tool last year (and sales have trended downward for the past 10 years), we’re not likely to do another run of it just to keep it in the catalog. It’s not a black-and-white equation, and sometimes we do pull the trigger on that order.
      If you do have a specific tool you need, give us a call. We may make something else that can do the job, or know someone who does.

    • @rangersmith4652
      @rangersmith4652 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@parktool Thank you for that thoughtful reply. If I discover a need for something specific that I can't find second hand, I'll be in touch.
      Yes, of course you have a pretty good idea what bikes are still out there. My comment in that regard was perhaps a bit over the top. I understand that the accounting department always gets its say.
      That said, Park Tool is well positioned to be a leader in helping keep older bikes in first-world countries on the roads and trails instead of in landfills, as well as making the tools that help people in areas of the world where owning a functioning bike -- even a really old one -- is not a luxury but an essential. Imagine the PR value to be gained from that.

    • @GNX157
      @GNX157 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually was feeling the opposite. Just once you decide to discontinue something , you should do one or two runs of it and build up a large stock of it to have for perpetuity.

    2:26 - is that the way of measuring BCD?

    • @johnplink

      One could calculate BCD based on the measurement of the distance from one bolt to its nearest neighbor.

    Bottle mounted tire plug seems weird. You are still going to need a pump or co2, where do those go? Or the water bottle even. Water bottle mount is for the water bottle.
