    Which microphone would you choose out of the Sony or the Rode? 😊

    brilliant video. has a rode, now buying the sony. that wind test is not exactly scientific but I think it did demonstrate rode copes better with windy situation.

    Been waiting for the Sony ECM-B1M for a really long time. Finally found it back in stock a few days ago. While I appreciate the Rode, I think the Sony has a slight edge overall (especially if you use the wind muff and noise cancelling), so I went with that.

    I love the convenience of sony, but honestly Rode sounds better to my ear.

    Unfortunately, you screwed the comparison up by putting the Sony and cardioid mode instead of super cardioid mode.

    I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the shock mount noise issues with the Sony mic which is a big no-go imo

    So theoretically you could use the Sony ecm-b1m as a mic when streaming on your desk, right?

    the sony sounds like a tin can compared to the fullness of the rode at arms length, but sounds much better at a distance

      Both great, depends if you have a compatible camera with the Sony

      Definitely B10/B1M - smaller size, mount it and forget it.

    • @BigPhil
      @BigPhil 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it is as compatible as ecm-b1m to A7iii = no digital audio, only analog

    • @gigihanmandarin
      @gigihanmandarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A73 Only analog mode is supported

      @@gigihanmandarin what is the difference?

    • @gigihanmandarin
      @gigihanmandarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CoVending you don't get 24bit float recording - that feature makes it impossible to distort your audio, you can place it in front of concert sized amplifier, drag volume level down in post and it will still sound fine. But you still get other benefits like battery-free & wireless connection. If you are damn sure your next camera upgrade will also be a Sony, then your Sony mic will still be compatible.

    • @gigihanmandarin
      @gigihanmandarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CoVending I've not used it in analog mode before so I don't know how well the auto leveling & noise cancelling will work in analog mode. Those features work fantastically in digital mode.

    Hey Scott, is the Sony mic compatible with the ZV1?

    • @ScottEdwards
      @ScottEdwards  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not but it is with the zv-e10

    • @gigihanmandarin
      @gigihanmandarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ZV1 doesn't support B1M and B10 but you can consider the newly released ECM-G1 which is even smaller and supports ZV1.
