    The ability to remove background noise so well on the big one could be huge. In quiet areas the smaller one seemed really solid too though. Nice video

    Thank you for the review. The rubberband solution is a great idea. I. have owned the ECM-BM1 in the past. I loved the sound, but the clicking made it unusable if the camera was moving (vlogging handheld or mounted in a vehicle). Ultimately, I would like to own both and use them for different scenarios (B10 for hiking and run and gun filming and B1M for more stationary outdoor filming where I would like more control over the settings).

    Thank you man for the video your a life saver. I got the g1 in the mail today for my a6000 it for sure sounds much better indoors. Outdoors it’s not the best with a lot of noise going on but it’s for sure an upgrade. The other one is obviously better but for the price difference I’ll wait to upgrade in the future

    Hey Arthur. Great comparison video. I was able to use both amd liked the sound of the b10. That being said the g1 is an amazing mic. It is really nice because you just put it on the camera and you are done. Also the g1 works on the ZV-1!

    I first listened to this video in a very noise fan filled room, so I had low expectations of making out sound quality between them, and was interested in your opinion. However, what struck me the most was the contrast of the BC10 for your very end comparison you did in your office. I have a B10 coming soon, can't wait to see it, especially with NC turned on.

    to my ear, the G1 is probably for these apscs that have previous gen builtin mic, such as A6000-A6600, to make them on par to the new gen mic- zve10. So it's not for the zve10. And the B10 and B1M is for some further upgrades.

    Does anyone know if there is a microphone in the g1 form factor so you can mount it on a cold shoe? My setup has a top handle mounted in the middle of the cage and it would interfere with picking up sound. Or maybe there is an extension cable to take the mic out to the side.

I have been considering a Deity D4 Duo for this use (I like to talk to people while vlogging) but maybe the volume balance on the G1 is good enough to get by.

I would use a mic if im at a crowded place like NYC but not perse on vacation at a place if you want to pick up everything from a bigger distance.

    According to Sony Hong Kong technical support department when the a7c2 connects to the ecm-g1 microphone, it can only use analog input. If you use a7c2 with other higher-end microphones, you can use digital input or analog input. So when g1 connect to a7c2, there is no fully automatic audio leveling function. However, on other Sony camera models such as the a74, the camera can continue to use digital input and use the fully automatic volume leveling function.
    Regarding this issue, I sent three emails to Sony's technical support department in Hong Kong, China and Japan. Reflecting my dissatisfaction, why do the same microphone have different reactions in different camera models.
    I use the a7c2, a relatively entry-level camera, because I hope that using an entry-level microphone, I can adjust the volume completely automatically, without having to spend time manually adjusting the volume.

    The B10 sounds best in most of the tests EXCEPT the back mic test. The G1 is much better than the B10 for the back mic test with Lucas. Because of this, G1 is the best for my needs because I use my camera to also record my son while I am talking to him behind the camera.

    hey, I've bought this mic recently but I'm getting a ton of noise from the mic bouncing left and right to absorb any vibrations from moving. It's extremely loud and has me considering other methods of recording audio. Is there any way around this other than getting a separate recording system or new mic to attach a mic to?

    • @mangoandbeans
      @mangoandbeans ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have probably already moved on or found a fix, but I see many people placing a small rubber band between the shock mount and the capsule head. That apparently stops the tapping sound that might be heard on your audio. I’ll find out soon when I purchase the G1 and immediately add a rubber band.

    Neither mic produces a realistic sound, with huge dropoff in the bass frequencies. Fine for speech, but poor for ambient sounds. Also, the in-camera mics pickup sound in stereo (obviously not very well-separated however), but with even worse low freq sensitivity. I think the new mics on test here are both mono. The mic manufacturers are fixated on vlogging, unfortunately. If you need a stereo mic for ambient sound, sadly there's not much choice, especially if you need a compact design.
