  • This video presentation is part one of the restoration of three unique and very rare 1881 Armstrong naval guns. Many parts were missing and had to be designed and fabricated using photos from the few complete guns in South America. If you have any historical information about the guns, please contact me at cannonfab@hotmail.com.

      Check my channel for an earlier video of the middle gun firing. It is a 2.5” bore.

    It's amazing to find one of those guns, let alone three. You know, some who win the lottery want to buy a new Ferrari, a yacht, etc. Not me, something like this and a large piece of land to shoot them on.

    Stunning! Well done. Is the breech plug/threads Teflon coated on the one in the still picks?

      Thanks! The breech threads are painted.

    Are you making these fireable? Projectile or just salute?

    • @morecannonfab
      @morecannonfab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Two of them can fire salute charges. One is display only.

    What a great trio of guns. Are the barrels built up or solid billet? I have that same rear sight on my Puckle Gun!

    At Point Pleasant Park in Halifax there are several Armstrong RML ?9lbers or 12 lbers on static display for possibly up to 1 century or more. I think these date back to the First Boer War era. They are on fake concrete display carriages and the bores are long gone, it looks like someone used the bores to store salt and HCL solution in. Sad but this is pretty much a typical default way the World's display cannons are kept under. Happily the CF keeps better care of the display cannons at R.A.Park out of the filthy hands of Political Parks Canada.
