Hey Thub, i've recently gotten into scrapping as i get motors and different metals from work, your videos help me find what it's worth it and what isn't. i appreciate the wealth of knowledge you have shared
So glad he got over the thousand mark!! Alot of great finds buds!! Also thanks for the "Bushdog" shout out. He is an awesome guy! I should mention that YOU are one of my main "go to guys" for scrapping videos. I was here when you were running, literally, around alleys gathering bottles and cans with the little red beast! Appreciated seeing you still grabbing bottles and cans, they add up! Awesome video my friend!!!
I will admit, I wished I found your you-tube channel sooner. Lots of great info, loving every bit of it! Oh well I got a lot of cool new things to watch before bed! Thanks for posting your adventures and knowledge! So many things that go to the trash ( trust me I am guilty of it as well)still has value, guess this is a good kind of hoarding. Not all heros wear capes, they have to put on gloves to dig thru society trash.. Thanks much for what you do!
I’m so glad you found me now! 😁 there’s a lot of good stuff I’m pretty proud of from the last few years, but I’ve got a handful coming up real quick I’ve been working pretty hard on so you’re just in time!
i love that youre always doing something interesting in your videos. I subbed for the dumpster diving and scrapyard dropoffs. I've come to love your other adventures too with smelting, the stint of repairing the red car when your truck was out of commission, microscrapping and exploring the world's methods of precious metal recovery. really cool stuff, thub keep it up
I don't really take apart washer n dryers anymore, the motors 99% of the time have aluminum windings. But the antique washer n dryer in that house, plus the old deep freezer would more than likely have copper windings in the motors. Also,at the 22:32 mark. That is I think a 7pin plug for trailer lights & trailer brakes. Small trailers use the flat 4 or 5 pin,but that you had in your hands was for heavy-duty trailers. Anywho..thanks for taking us along & happy treasure hunting
Thanks for joining! I couldn’t bear to scrap those appliances though, if I acquired them I would either use them myself or sell them for a pretty decent price
I started wood scrapping like 6 years ago. Most construction and home builders LOVE people removing and using scrap wood. It helps keep waste to a minimum AND helps extend the time before needing a haul off. An elderly couple were happy i was taking a lot of their scrap plywood and the wife gave me some apricot preserves.
Your two by fours look two by fourier than ours. Ours are more like one by twos these days. These are my fave videos. Thanks, Thub. I. Want. That. Freezer!!
Absolutely will! These are the bulk of what I have planned for this channel, I just have a list of supporting videos that I think are important to put out there so I do have to work through those as I go 👍
That dryer cord was prob too small(light like yah said), looked like it got hot. When cords have that twisted look n are not smooth(best way I can describe it), sometimes that means they got a bit hot and a larger one should have been used. See it on cheap/small gauge extension cords sometimes.
hi thub! just an idea, you should consider selling ingots to fans sometime! not sure if you’d be able to do it with your merch store or how you’d go about it, but i think fans would buy them here and there ☺️
That’s a fun idea! I’d have to make them unique so it feels special though. Honestly, the idea of selling merch has lost its appeal to me, I’d much rather do limited custom runs of little things like that. As much as I love the hoodie and shirt designs I’ve got, I just lose money keeping the store open
here we got cellphone recycling kisok vending machines at walmart. you punch in type of phone it is on the screen, and use their charging cables to test functionality. useless dead /broken /older model phones get a dollar each. I heard some iphones fetch about 400 from the machines. The only requirement is showing photo id and face scan. idk if you mentioned or its been in the comments but Gamestop buys a lot of electronics for cash or credit in store. Along with other websites you can ship too that i'm sure you're aware of. As for Gamestop condition i'd assume must power on and not be cracked. I think it said RCA, if I remember correctly? You might be surprised about the efficiency though, those older freezers and fridges are usually more efficient than modern counterparts because they don’t have a heater for a built-in defrost cycle. Most people are happy to sacrifice a bit of energy efficiency for not having to unload everything onto the floor and defrost the unit once a year though lol
I had them custom made! They were available in the merch store for about a year but the warehouse cranked the fees up outrageously high so I couldn’t do it anymore. I do have some old stock still around so if you’re interested send me a dm!
