    A prepper or military guy's estate is what that dumpster looked like. I found a bunch of freeze dried food in one dumpster where I can tell they had been doing a clean out. Looking back I should have grabbed some of it. It was defiantly old, but still good if I had to guess

    You'll never get an argument from me when buying tires. In the states I buy Goodyear Kevlar for the sole reason I don't want flats from driving thru the scrap yard. In years past, I've paid $300 each. This year, I decided to buy them in tax free Delaware and saved $76 on 4 tires. Great content btw. Can't wait for the end to see your ammo treasure!

    Couple of years ago I tried different MREs from around the world and I got my hands on pretty old stuff too. The biggest bundle was a 35 kg package filled with whole, still sealed and partially opened MREs from the Iran - Iraq war back in 1980. The stuff was produced and packed when I wasn`t even born. It was still edible though, despite of 5% that came in damaged packaging.
    You will always have a little bit of an offtaste with this highly industrial overworked food after years of storage. But most of this stuff should be edible, if the packaging is still fine.
    Fun fact: There are collectors out there who will pay some good money on certain old military meals. Maybe you could fetch a couple of bugs. Worst case -> you can enjoy some free food 🙂

    We have a nose and eyes for a reason. It’s pretty easy to tell if food has gone to the darkside. Look for mold or bugs, weird off putting sights like foaming randomly, and see if it smells like a corpse or metallic. Then the tongue test. Put a bit on your tongue and see if it tastes bad.
    But yeah avoid field rations. They are basically the military version of a lunchable with about the same shelf life. Lots of stories from combat of poor dudes having to eat those things WAY past safety to not starve to death and getting hella sick. No where near the shelf life of the dry salt lick space food MRE which depending on your stomach can last for like 20+ years stored half decently away from water and extreme temps.

  • @johnchristie1423
    @johnchristie1423 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Take a magnet to those shells. Some appear to be brass but the magnet will pull them out. Especially some of the military cases. Remember that used brass , once fired goes for 50 cents Can in hunting loads, especially since you have the boxes of what they are. Gun auction to dispose is best
