One extra question, any thoughts on how a shot can be framed when using manual setting and the back camera as there is no flip out screen. Is it possible to do this using multiple androids? Thanks!
On Android..... I need to check and see but Filmic Pro has a 2nd app that turns your other phone into a monitor. I have it for iPhone but I don’t know if it works for Android or not.

I need to figure out lighting for indoors when it is dark outside. I have seen your video about cheap lighting from Home depot, watched other's HOW TO lighting videos & HOW TO set up lighting.... BUT I dont need light for my face because I film mainly my hands for DIYs. Any suggestions for lighting set up? Lamps are not cutting it for me at night.
Great stuff Dee! I think I've told you how much I LOVE my Boya mic! What a difference it makes and a time saver to not have to sync up audio. I also am enjoying this phone tripod I got about 2 months ago. On Amazon. It's so compact but also stretches out pretty tall. I can get some awesome close up angles of the Array Mbira when I use it. It's not clunky and it's easy to work around the instrument stand too. It's called Eocean 54-Inch Selfie Stick Tripod, Extendable Selfie Stick with Wireless Remote. That's just two of the things I use all the time. 😉

Great video! Enjoyed seeing some things I have never used! I will definitely look into the lapel mics for interviewing! i have gotten a gimbal but the hard thing for me is I am left handed and these are always hard for me to maneuver because they are made for a right handed person to use!

I use everything you listed minus the boya mic, I use the Rode VideoMicro. Plus I have a monopod and a Joby suction cup with the gorillapod arm. A few weeks ago I ordered Zomei 37mm polarizer and variable ND filter lenses. Only used them a little so far but they seem to be decent for the money. Oh and as far as the small Joby type tripods, I do not recommend the one at Walmart. That's what we have and after several uses, the legs loose there strength and start collapsing. The monopod from Walmart has been good so far though. Sorry this was a bit long! Brandon
You need large lights and don’t turn them up so much. Adjust your camera to work better in the big soft light. Hotspots come from lights that are too bright or focused in a location. Big soft lights / diffused lights are the answer.
Another really good addition is a MicroSD card adapter that plugs into both your phone and your computer. Best $5 I spent since I started. it makes it very easy for me to see what's on my cards with out having to plug it into the computer and then I can transfer stuff to to card or just plug it into the computer and back up.
@@DeeNimmin it's just for reading SD cards it really helps to see what's on my micro SD cards without putting them in my computer or swapping them out on the phone itself.

Don’t spend money you don’t have. You don’t NEED all the tech to get going. Work with what you have now and build as your channel grows and you start to make a little money.

Do I need a grip? Unsure, you'll have to answer that again for me... oh wait! You did :P (sorry, just being cheeky) God I wish I had one of those Boyah's when I did my digital drawings in the car. I was only using the iPad mic and that thing is awful, especially when you're drawing away and you hear the constant tap tap tap of the apple pencil because the internal mic pics up the apple pencil tapping at the screen.. Maybe you can take a look into attachable camera lenses for mobile. like the wide angle and the telephoto ones. I've seen some good ones, and some pretty garbage lenses for mobile phones.

What one of those lights are better for not getting hot spots. I am always filming walls or different surfaces and some lights give big hot spots.

God I wish I had one of those Boyah's when I did my digital drawings in the car. I was only using the iPad mic and that thing is awful, especially when you're drawing away and you hear the constant tap tap tap of the apple pencil because the internal mic pics up the apple pencil tapping at the screen..
Maybe you can take a look into attachable camera lenses for mobile. like the wide angle and the telephoto ones. I've seen some good ones, and some pretty garbage lenses for mobile phones.
