Wilbur died of typhoid fever in 1912, so he never knew of WWI and the resultant advances in aviation. But Orville lived 'til 1948, long enough to witness WWII, the dawning of the jet age and Yeager's supersonic flight in 1947. Amazing.
Actually Orville Wright lived until after Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier! He saw much of aeronautical advancements! I would like to have known his thoughts!
