A nice video to give people a heads-up on what to expect from Canadian life. For eight years, I was a Torontonian, and I am now back in the Philippines for personal reasons. Of the ten reasons you mentioned, I thought healthcare could be a gamechanger for sickly people. The cost of living, wherever you are, is best managed by being prudent and resourceful. Immigrants have to adapt to the climate and embrace the long winter months. Which is better, though, flurries and snow or the dirty flood brought by typhoons?
Eventhough its hard to grind everyday . I still have to thank Canada for everything all the change in my life my family will feel it. Thank you so much Canada for everything that you do. Yes it is hard but it will be worth it in the end if you spend your money wisely.
@@margmak6234 I won’t. Just too damn cold and cost of everything is nuts. If you want to buy a bottle of whiskey you have to travel many blocks to what they call LCBO. It’s basically a monopoly on liquor. I’m used to just walking to the corner package store for a bottle of liquor. The cost too is absolutely ridiculous but you have no choice. I could go on and on but it’s just not worth the aggravation to live there. Another gripe is safety checks on a car when you by it privately. You are at the mercy of a garage. I believe in safety yes but think about all the thoroughly rusted out vehicles driving around with massive holes. But just because you happen to buy a car that has a hole the size of a quarter… it fails inspection. Makes no sense. Then if you want to get the rust repaired the cost for bodywork is absolutely nuts plus 13% tax on everything, even on labor. Americans would definitely revolt. Canadians appear to be very passive. They take it all “On the Chin” and say oh well, that’s the way it is!
I love it here but my seasonal depression always gets me due to long winter months. Other than that, I’m okay with everything. My husband and I studied how money works here that’s why in a span of 7yrs we are able to put up money in real estate. The investments still a long way but it’s better than not at all. We live in a simple townhouse. Not upgrading a car. Not upgrading iphones. And live within our means. For me, I think its all about having a plan before coming here and ask yourself what you want to be after 5-10yrs. Have a plan A,B and C. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge! Mabuhay!
There are millions out of work here. Canada does not accept University and college degrees from other countries you may have to spend years upgrading. Plus I know of sevel people with engineering degrees who degrees were never accepted and they had to do building maintenance for minimum wage. One had to drive taxi. Anther was a heart surgeon from India who had to perminantly work as a janitor in the hospitals here. PM Trudeau just wants to to come and bring money. Make sure you have a job here before you move and a way to get back if it does not workout.
Due to inflation and current situation here in Canada (and around the world), min 15/hr is not enough, so for some people working double/triple job is necessary to make ends meet, however, there is always a better way, just like she said, the key here is to really look for a job that would pay you 3 or 4 or even 5 times the minimum. It will take time and effort but it is doable, you just have to persevere, be patient and work smart. We are currently living comfortably in Toronto, with a house mortgage , a pair of vehicles and one job. I hope this could motivate you enough.
The reality is, wherever you are, you have to work hard through life in order to enjoy. You have to contribute to any country you are living in. The real question is, how much does the said country give back to its people?
In the Philippines, you serve and work for the government. It’s not the government working for you! Worse is, you’ll see your tax money going to the pockets of corrupt politicians,,, even worst, the rich are highly favored… they can get away with money laundering and tax evasion…. where is the dignity of labor? If you get sick when you’re old, become confined in the hospital, all your hard earned money’s going to pay for the bill… here, I’ll be covered. Even Americans wish they have Canadians’ universal healthcare benefits.
We just have to be patient,hard-working and appreciate life and be thrifty and live a good life....And I thank-you for sharing the realities of life there that you experience..... Yes most especially the cold cold weather there is one thing to consider most especially people coming from tropical countries like here in the Philippines.Yeah but Canada is kind to immigrant that's why most people decide to live there. May God bless all our decisions and give us good health.God bless you too and your family.
Ma'am thank you so much for this. This made me think more to work hard so it won't be too difficult for me when I move there. Now I know why my cousin seem so exited for us to go to Canada and be with him so we could help him and also he won't be alone there. Thank you again ma'am
Show off your nice big house! What a shallow mindset. The bank owns the house on default. I own my 1000 sq ft brick house. It’s not big but it’s very comfortable. I had a friend install a new kitchen and built a medium size deck out back. Its very easy to maintain and It’s totally paid for. I am under no stress. I can go away for a trip whenever. I’m not broke and life is good. I feel sorry for people that are so frazzled and swamped with bills, they cannot “stop and smell the coffee”

Taxes too in California is so high, Health Insurance is expensive and house is very expensive in my place a 2 bedroom house cost 1.2 million Car Insurance is expensive too the difference in Canada the health Insurance is free.
I moved to Edmonton from the Uk with my Canadian wife 20yrs ago. 4 yrs in we moved to Toronto. My first job here was in an autobody shop detailing cars(i was in IT in the uk). After a year I beat out over 300+ applicants from all over the globe for a govt job. Just have to be prepared to do anything until the right job comes along. Also I'd rather have the infrequent snow than the constant bloody rain we got in the uk. Driving is bad but it's been made worse by morons on their damn cell phones and people who dont look after their cars. Your asking for trouble when your driving on bald all seasons tyres in the winter.
Unfortunately no good paying jobs here…with rising costs of housing, rent, food, taxes etc…companies are actually lowering wages for current employees. More and more people are ending up homeless each day. I’ve seen children with parents sleeping on the streets…my family and I aren’t far behind unfortunately.

Thankyou Sarah for your great tips. Everthing expesive in Canada and pay very high tax for Everything comparing with other country. My god really you save me from Canada and better choose any other country for live without tension. Nowadays many people uploading videos says dont come Canada for some reasons. i cancelled Canada migrate prcess. God Bless You.
Sarah you can buy a new car for around 20 ,000 I pay 325 a month no money down 0 interest, its only 900 bucks a year for insurance and you can live on 20 dollars a hour and 40 hours a week , i have single friends doing it . its what part of canada you live in dont live in vancouver toronto or montreal they are the most expense to live in . Go to southern ontario you can live cheaper and alot of people live in this area alot of jobs average pay is 20 to 245 bucks ahour
Canada has been marketed well by some bright people. Canada is really high on self esteem but low on substance....it is a country of me first and kindness has been forgotten (by many but not all). With horrible weather, health care that is strained , eldercare warehoused, it is not a country to live in, unless you want to be miserable.
forget about buying a house here - even Canadians themselves cannot afford one! We have to drive over 1 hour to work - and if you get laid off, good luck trying to find work nearby! You will make minimum wage here @ factories who are happy to replace you with other immigrant workers.
Thanks for having a little trouble with English, but I realized that you wrote in the description of everything you said, and again, thank you for pointing us to the important points.😊
At first I feel this lady vlogger so negative, but when i listened to her half of the video, i have realized so much to consider, but its reality, and what she have shared is very useful..thank you kabayan.
Yep I’d listen to her if I was you. I was born in Canada and I left for a long time to live in Georgia USA. I return back for a family matter in 2019 but I won’t be staying for long. I am returning back to the south. The sticker shock here it’s just too much to take. The only upside of this experience is that the house I bought in 19 for $220,000 Doubled in value so I will be able to purchase a very nice home in Georgia for around 175,000 and be far ahead of the game in that way so I’m thankful that real estate went cuckoo in Canada that actually helped me out
In America pay rent, car insurance, health insurance, dental insurance work minimum wage if you don't have enough education. For me I see the samething no difference.
I am coming to Canada but I am coming with a pension and fully paid health benefits I can use in the USA. as well as a health care license and teaching credentials. I will settle in a rural area that has a lower cost of living near the US border. Now I can use my T Mobile US account by paying 5 dollars more a month.
I need a good housekeeper. My Recreational Activities Therapist wants a good housekeeper too. I probably know half dozen more people too. I’m just north of Sarah
Greetings from Manitoba. You forgot to mention of you want to live in BC you better be RICH! Same as when you mentioned California or Florida, better climate comes with a price. I don't understand why you think the flight overseas is expensive I've flown from Winnipeg to Bangkok Thailand four times since 2017 and the most that ever cost me for a round trip ticket was $1, 153.00 to me that's a steal. A co-worker of mine flew from Calgary to Newfoundland +return in 2017, the same year I went to Thailand for the first time when I paid $1,153 and she paid more than that and she never left Canada.👍😎
Sorry, too expensive on both accounts! Check out flights out of your closest US city. You can fly out of American cities without surrendering your right arm and leg. Ever wonder why droves of Americans are all flying across country in the news at 4th July, Easter, Christmas, while Canadians for the most part go nowhere? Americans fly for peanuts compared to greedy ripoff Canadian airlines and airports. Taxation fly in or out of a Canadian airport is so high AND the flights themselves, it’s simply unaffordable for many. Americans have family spread out all over the nation but it’s not a problem since airfare is so inexpensive!!!
Ma'am Sarah in your own advice, if I'm having at least 30k a month salary here in the Philippines. Do you think that migrating to Canada is worth it? Hope you can notice my comment and thank you.
I think it’s worth if you have kids and family I have more details for you 15 reasons why you have to move in Canada click the link 👉th-cam.com/video/8zpKVEmhdLw/w-d-xo.html
I do not agree with you. I was born in the Philippines but moved to Canada when I was 3 years old. I got married in Philippines 2019 and my wife is now living here in Montreal with me since last December. Here is my own opinion: 1) Car Insurance is expensive. In any civilized world there is car insurance with 2 way coverage. Is it too expensive as opposed to Pinas where you don’t have car insurance? You get into an accident or worse the person that hit you drives off. And worse off all he has no insurance and no plates on his car or motorsiklo. So you have no recourse…you have to pay the damages yourself and your own hospital bills. Pinas, anyone who doesn’t know how to drive and has no insurance can drive. So your playing Russian roulette getting to EDSA each and everyday. Your saying that car prices are expensive? Really? New cars are expensive whether you are here in Canada or Pinas. This is a moot point! 2) I agree cell phone bills are expensive 3) Very Cold ?? As oppose to Pinas where its soo humid that I got a cold. Where you have heavy rains that it floods. In any country, there are good and bad things about the weather…suck it up! 4) Poor health care? Really? 8 hour long line ups…during covid. I cannot speak to the wait times but the health care is free. You base it on Pinas where if you are dying of cancer, you have to pay your treatment yourself…too bad! That’s a lot of money for cancer treatment in Pinas. Canada has a good health system. Children have free dental services also in Quebec, if your kid needs eyeglasses, the government pays up to $250CDN. In Pinas, tough….you have to pay for the dentist and everything else. Now tell me…is that poor health care? Oh, and if you live in the States, you get private health care which you pay for via job. Oh one thing, you need to read the fine print in your insurance. If you accidentally go get treatment because you broke your arm and you go to the wrong hospital because your insurance will not pay for the medical bill, well you have to pay for it yourself. 5) Expensive plane ticket? I can’t argue with you but why? Are you expecting to go to Pinas every year? You are here to make a life in Canada…save and work before going to Pinas 6) Store locations not convenient ? Then your living in the wrong area of Calgary. In Montreal, if you want pinoy food and Walmart, then you live in Cote Des Neiges…there is a growing filipino population. Pinoys coming to Canada are lucky now. There is Jollibee, seafood city where there is abundance of Pinoy food. When my parents and I came here, there was no Jollibee in the 70s or a lot of pinoy grocery story. We learned to suck it up and stop complaining! 7) Food is expensive because of covid and what is happening south of us with a certain president. 8) Too much taxes? Every country has taxes. I guess you are not used to paying taxes because I heard in Pinas you do not file an income tax, it is your employer who files your income tax on their benefit. Now how screwed up is that! Canadians pay taxes but it is offset by healthcare and other myriads of services we as Canadians get compared to Pinas. Again…suck it up! 9) Its not easy to find a job? Well, I am sorry but Philippine education is lacking. Your years of schooling is not enough. Let me give you an example, my dad graduated as an engineer in Mapuaa Institute of Technology and the Canadian gov’t rated the equivalency in education and it turned out to be only equivalent to 1 year of University in Canada. SO yes, if you want to get ahead and improve then you need to educate yourself in Canada. All I can say if you came in Canada as a blue collar worker, in the short term, you are earning less, that is true but so is everyone else. However, you can improve yourself! You can push and go back to school, there is nothing stopping you. There are ample opportunities to improve yourself in Canada more so than in Pinas. You are a blue collar worker in Pinas, you got to University in the Philippines, the odds are against you for trying to find a good job, why? Too many supply not enough demand. There are too many people chasing too few jobs. 10. Expensive house? This is all relative. I am not trying to bash you but your giving a very one sided picture of coming to Canada. If you want a better life, a better education and a better job then its worth it to come to Canada. There are ample opportunities to improve yourself, more than in the Philippines. But remember, just because we earn $$$, our expenses are in $$$. The best thing to do is to save and retire in Pinas. Or if your like me working in the IT Sector, live in Pinas and work for a Canadian company and work online. I was about to do that before I met my wife but now its better for her and my son to come to Canada. One thing, if you are lazy to study or lazy to push hard to work, then do not bother coming to Canada. You are better off drinking in Pinas. For anyone contemplating coming to Canada, you need to be a little of a go getter and leave all complaints behind and just suck up and do it. I know of people who keep on complaining about how much life is better in Pinas, they had their foot out the door. Sadly, they failed to make a life in Canada and returned to Pinas…but they are experiencing hardship now in Pinas. My advice, if you come, do not look back, you need to be all in with living in Canada…that is the only way you will succeed. I agree that if you look at it Pinas it is a better place to live than in Canada in terms of the weather and food (family is another matter...where everybody bugs you for money) BUT...and its a bIg BUT...you need to have a lot of money! If you are in Pinas but do not have a lot of money....life in Pinas sucks! Canada offers you the chance to improve yourself and attain a better life.

Hi Sarah, I appreciate the videos you do but in my opinion this one is over generalized. There is a solution for all these situations and it’s all about planning once you discover how the Canadian living is like, with more research and experience. It’s not the same for every province. Don’t get me wrong it is great pointers but I believe it’s all about the process of moving into another country. That’s why I don’t pay too much attention to these TH-cam “why you shouldn’t move here” It can be very discouraging but I understand your point of view 🙏 You helped me understand the process of how to become a citizen and at the end of the day, this is what I most appreciate about your videos! Merci beaucoup!! Thank you so much! Salamat! Continue spreading your experience!
Sarah, I admire your genuineness. It’s better to be prepared than be sorry. Those who already have a better life in their country, is not worth making a mistake.
It's a great insight of how living in Canada as an immigrants really is.. But I know a lot of parents move there for their child education which is top tier in the world. Real life there is really a struggle unless you have a high paying job. Thanks for sharing.
As a UK university professor I can confirm that the Canadian education system is not top tier. When we accept Canadian students for a BA they always struggle and often fail. They lack general knowledge and the ability to work independently.
Four minutes in and she’s already basically taught me unless you’re making $50 an hour- you’ll work your life away in Canada. I wanted to consider living there but it sounds worse than here.
I plan to come UCW university in British Columbia . But now say many things about Canada. So I coming like a student it's hard to handle alone in Canada. Need support for students..!
if you have social status in the Philippines - like a good job/career/business - DON'T come to Canada. Losing your status just to come to Canada to work in a factory will destroy your self-esteem. You will be depressed. DON'T do it for your children - let your children come to Canada themselves - and keep your life in the Philippines as is.
Sarah is right - you have to make over 50K a year just to break even in Canada! This country is built for the wealthy - we immigrants have to maintain their standard of living. If you have a good business in the Philippines than can support you and your family and have a comfortable life - DONT' come to Canada!
When it comes to waiting in the hospital yeah here in PH we also need to wait if you wanted to be served in ER especially in government owned hospital so I think its almost the same
The health care system sucks! Not only emergency room. How about me, I’m out of work with excruciating pain and I’m on a wait list to see a spine surgeon that’s 3 years long. You can go bankrupt in Canada folks due to its crumby healthcare! Not only in USA this can happen. There aren’t enough specialists in Ontario. I’m not racist but we cannot take care of people living here for doctors, what are we doing immigrating thousands and thousands annually? Makes no sense. Me? I’m in progress of getting my green card and I’m outta here. Good riddance!
Do you think it's worth it if I'm immigrating to Canada for better education and better life there for me and my family? My mom is planning to immigrate there with my entire family and my aunt lives there and said she'd help us adjust.
How working at minimum wage is not enough for survival....suppose a person making minimum salary of 1800/month in canada can easily save 500-700 dollars, then why do u think minimum wage is not enough to survive?
exactly 50-60 $ per hour, at least to have a comfortable life style with a bit of savings. Car is certainly needed especially for those who live in Toronto, Ottawa and other cities that are scattered around even to go to Cosco for a big shopping, you will need a car or take a taxi

Prons and cons of every country but it's still better being in Canada ...invest back home ....at old age we shall go back home...we get used to the cold anyway
It’s so nice to leave in Canada free health care.. but it’s going to explode your pockets anyway everything it’s very expensive esp the gas. Years years ago we went up there for long driving from New Jersey to visit my relatives down in ontario ohh boy the Gas was so very expensive at all and my cousin told me mostly they’re went to shopping with her friends in New York across the boarder…
I love Sarah how you say Canada is not all hallelujah it’s so true all my family in Iran think this way I honestly wish I was born n living there like all my cousins are it’s so lonely here in Canada and the weather is garbage in the winters
* Yes, everyone pays taxes according to their income. 🤷🏼♀️ * You can buy used car... * pay attention to the offers for cell/internet...Do your research... * Alberta is cold, other provinces are better and yea no tropics here 😎 * health care...complaining? If you go to ER and then decide to go home, it means you didnt need an emergency care in the first place!🤷🏼♀️ * plane tickets....yes how far is it to Philipines? Obviously it will be expensive * driving too far? First world problems for sure 🤓 * food expensive? There is lots of sales, once again, first world problems * jobs....dont give up. * housing prices recently, yes! Crazy! You want to impress your neighbours? Oh boy, then you will work 3 jobs forever. On that note, from a fellow immigrant, all the best ❤
better for people to work in other country and send the money to the phils...lalo na may video call na at cctv,,, buhay binata ka. tapos yung familu mo buhay madam... much better situation, kesa anjan kayu lahat pero sakripisyo... matindi... wala ka pa malapitan kung wla kang pamilya jan. better work there and leave the family here. let your wife take care of the children. uwi uwi rin every year. i think that its better. invest ng properties at negosho retire at 45
Ofcourse We all NEED TO PAY our Taxes . No one is exempted . Wherever you are you pay tax. I dont mind paying BIG Taxes, when I can enjoy clean sorroundings, beautiful nature, roadtrips and cold weather , hiking, skies , biking and walking in parks, picnices with families and friends feeling safe .. Advanced government system , policemen, firetrucks, libraries, PUBLIC SAFETY , childrens playground.. buses, affordability ( electric , water, furnitures, gasoline , house mortgage and CAR etc) HEALTHCARE System , Retirement Pension. All the stuff i mentioned are good benefits for the tax that youre paying there in Canada , Something your home country failed to give you. Maybe People should just live within their means and try to stay out of debt too much to be able to appreciate life there…
you can add about the negatives :
- Very poor social life, canadians are so nice they even don't want anything to do with you
- Everything is expensive, specially housing/parking/fees .... just pay pay pay
- Everything is far, to visit the next big city you need to drive for many many hours
- Pothole everywhere if you live in Montreal
- Car and winter, big trouble if you don't have an inside parking, imagine you car covered by ice, with snow you get to shovel hard to remove the snow, sometimes you get stuck in the ice
You would like Canada if :
- you are introvert
- you love the trees and the snow
- you enjoy walking on icy slippery sidewalks
and the list can go on, nothing is perfect its just a life choice

A heart surgeon...seriously....he needs to go back home or go to other country where he can work as a surgeon like the UK....
Please let them know.

Jeezzzz thanksss now i know...so not all and evrything about canada is good....thanks for the info
Thank you 😊
The reality is, wherever you are, you have to work hard through life in order to enjoy.

You like Manitoba?
Thanks for sharing godbless... ☺️
For those people that have their hand work, like photographs or Hairdresser do they paid taxes

Here is my own opinion:
1) Car Insurance is expensive.
2) I agree cell phone bills are expensive
3) Very Cold ??
You are here to make a life in Canada…save and work before going to Pinas
6) Store locations not convenient ?

Hi Sarah,
I appreciate the videos you do but in my opinion this one is over generalized. There is a solution for all these situations and it’s all about planning once you discover how the Canadian living is like, with more research and experience. It’s not the same for every province. Don’t get me wrong it is great pointers but I believe it’s all about the process of moving into another country. That’s why I don’t pay too much attention to these TH-cam “why you shouldn’t move here”
It can be very discouraging but I understand your point of view 🙏

It's a great insight of how living in Canada as an immigrants really is.. But I know a lot of parents move there for their child education which is top tier in the world.
Real life there is really a struggle unless you have a high paying job. Thanks for sharing.
I mean if living in Canada is "a real struggle" please do not come.
As a UK university professor I can confirm that the Canadian education system is not top tier. When we accept Canadian students for a BA they always struggle and often fail. They lack general knowledge and the ability to work independently.

if you have social status in the Philippines - like a good job/career/business - DON'T come to Canada. Losing your status just to come to Canada to work in a factory will destroy your self-esteem. You will be depressed. DON'T do it for your children - let your children come to Canada themselves - and keep your life in the Philippines as is.

Good riddance!

exactly 50-60 $ per hour, at least to have a comfortable life style with a bit of savings. Car is certainly needed especially for those who live in Toronto, Ottawa and other cities that are scattered around even to go to Cosco for a big shopping, you will need a car or take a taxi

* You can buy used car...
* pay attention to the offers for cell/internet...Do your research...
* Alberta is cold, other provinces are better and yea no tropics here 😎
* health care...complaining? If you go to ER and then decide to go home, it means you didnt need an emergency care in the first place!🤷🏼♀️
* plane tickets....yes how far is it to Philipines? Obviously it will be expensive
* driving too far? First world problems for sure 🤓
* food expensive? There is lots of sales, once again, first world problems
* jobs....dont give up.
* housing prices recently, yes! Crazy!
