- The Mommy is a staple trope that a lot of VTubers identify with and play as their characters. Utilizing motherly feel, calming aura, and even sexy, domineering techniques, the mommy is an effective trope that's very much still in demand these days.

Loved the video, not sure if this is allowed but can you do a video about both tsunderes and the top bottom switch spectrum, I have a bone (not in that sense, god no in that sense) to pick with akuma nimune ( personally I think she is a bit problematic considering that the tropes she tries to do make her a bit toxic) would recommend Elly and juniper actias as contrasts, an analysis on what makes a community punching bag (good case Ashley Nicole’s, bad case onesion ), a possible collab with VIL (vtuber I love, which is the name of the youtubers channel) and how honesty makes all the difference from a good ol nagatorro and a toxic dress up darling. TLDR (though probably should) tsunderes and the top bottom switch spectrum is very interesting topic and I dislike numi abit. Hopefully this isn’t asking much of you and some of my suggestions might be that out there but I just want some insight on some things I’ve noticed on how the tsundere trope is getting exausted and it correlations to the top bottom switch spectrum.

A series on these tropes would definitely be good and interesting to talk about the loose connections solidifying people into them.
I think she falls in that range of being your older sister but the older sister that has taken care of you for years. The "it's my sister, but acts like your mom" trope.

As a sapling, it was mainly the green hair that attracted me to her. Green = best. After seeing her debut tho...From the motherly vibe, to the slight hint of yandere, and just the comfy voice and personality she gives, I'm happy to have given my support for her, from then to now and as long as she's around.

I never could quite succinctly pin down Fauna's appeal, so I just sorta categorized her into the in-between space bridging the "mommy" and "mom-friend" archetypes.
For motherly, I still give it to Mio to be the best of all
I’m glad Fauna is the thumbnail. In my opinion, she set a precedent for the archetype that basically everyone follows nowadays.

A wise man once said, "if sexuality is all you can offer then it is all people want from you". Eventually they'll go looking for something else. In all vtuber group, I like Hololive the most because the talents are 'grounded'. There are rules and lines they cannot cross. Those rules are for the benefit of both the talents and viewers.

Honestly, i can't see Fauna as a mommy trope anymore solely because her is such a memelord. the biggest reason i like fauna is because of her random dumb tangent. And she is not a normies memelord either, she is in the deepfried variety.
Ah yes, when Faunas Vibes and personality Collide With the fact that she has atleast more than 13+ years of Internet knowledge, memes and obscure things at that, the most random topics that come out without warning and a mindset best described as competitve.
Yeah like, if you actually watch her content, you realize she's the least seiso in the gen (besides maybe Sana, who is eternal). It's just that she is far more sophisticated than most with her innuendo and knows not to spam it. She is definitely on the older and "cultured" side of Holomems.

Fauna really portays that motherly vtuber trope very well. Both in model and in voice, plus is goes with her character. Seeing as to how she's known as mother nature.
Rest assured. Fauna does and will pull out a mommy style "Ara Ara" when the need arises. Kobo in her birthday stream recieved the full force of Fauna's "Ara Ara" and Kobo freaked out when it hit and after Fauna left the stream.
I don't see Fauna as a mommy she's like the EN version of Watame, a comfortable fluffy pillow friend, her cowkini period was hilarious because it's so out of character but you could tell she's passionate about cowkinis for some reason, it's "adorkable", like Watame who WANTS to be sexy but her fans won't let her, these two girls are too pure they can't lewd themselves even if they tried.
I know Fauna won the EN mommy poll by a landslide, probably because EN doesn't have one, but i think the most mom member of Hololive is Choco, purposely putting on the onesan voice, always cooking for other members, giving the impression of a well maintained home (famous for her luxury bed), having that character design and teasing viewers, I'll agree with Mio cus she's so insanely wholesome and supportive of her friends.
The hololive EN mommy is Kiara, maybe because she is the older one (maybe), life experience, emotional, and she has done well the mamá role play with Kobo.

I think Mio is the most mom-like Holomem, even Holomems call her mama. Choco-sensei is actually more like that oneesan who is reliable but also has her immature moments. She has the tendency of doing things she likes obsessively to the point where it's too much. The woman literally ginded endermen to the point she got to lvl 300+ "just because", then lost those levels "just because", then grinded endermen again to level 504... "Just because." She's the only Holomem (other than Sora maybe) that Pekora _really_ didn't wanna kill, coz she felt so guilty of the thought that Choco-sensei will lose 500 levels because of her. The way you describe Fauna and Saplings' relationship, it reminds me of Suisei and Stargazers' one. The Vtuber not playing into some trait makes the fans want it way more. A different trait, but a similar effect.

Favorite Vtuber archetype fr fr. I like both the horny curvy mommys and the warm supportive mommies. Honestly, my favorite right now is an indie named Sasin who, washboard tan abs nonwithstanding, isn't really that sexual.
But her being a mother and elementary school teacher in real life makes her streams feel so relaxing and inviting to be a part of. Especially when her voice is smooth as butter. You can just feel the supportiveness from Harpy Dragon Mom.
This is super interesting. I never really tried to analyse the parallels between Vtubers and anime, and even then I usually rely on my own intuition, so having it put into words I can agree or disagree with is a great idea. Looking forward to this series!

I am a sapling with all my heart and I love the soft spoken Fauna, but when she used her deep voice while playing the CouncilRyS RPG, I think my panties got wetter than ever before. Kronii is honestly such a gem. She bullies, she gets bullied, but it's also hilarious how Japanese Hololive members absolutely adore her despite her Japanese speaking skills. That's another thing too, she knows how to pronounce Japanese words as if she's an S-tier voice actress, but when it comes to actually conversing with other people, she struggles since she's not fluent. She's just perfect.

I really do think that one of the things that turns me off about a lot of Vtubers is the over-sexualization. Vshojo is by and large just the largest corpo where this can be seen among many of it's talents. I've tried to check out all of them because I love Ironmouse so much but honestly none of the others do it for me at all. Even Kson who I normally like has gone down a more sexualized path that I'm simply not interested in. I see so many independent Vtubers out there with incredibly lewd models and of course all the content you see from many of them is also lewd so even if there IS more to them that's the first impression that's put out there. For whatever reason, I just keep getting pushed back towards Hololive and their talents overall because they strike a better balance of cuteness with only a touch of the yabai. Hololive clips also almost always focus on funny situations or moments which to me is just more entertaining on the whole. Obviously, everyone has their own personal tastes and thankfully there are so many Vtubers nowadays that you're bound to find at least a few that fit what you're into.
Yep, Vshoujo is basically a borderline camgirls org now besides mouse. And i like mouse in tangent because i like CDawgVA. There is no other spectrum in Vshoujo, since too much freedom is not necessarily good. With hololive there is something for everyone.

VTubers using sex as bait an outgrown it is a tried and true formula ever since VTuber become streaming content instead of premade videos. You say not Hololive but tend to forget who is Natsuiro Matsuri and many, many of her cohorts. The problem is some VTubers actually double down and get MORE lewd. Culminating with actual AVTuber becoming a thing now.

Yooo Chad Nousagi is back! AND the vid has my oshi in it! God I love Fauna!
She's like an in-between of the mommy and onee-san trope, and my honest to God opinion is that her NOT leaning towards the sexual stuff is why she's my oshi. You feel safe and calm in her streams no matter what's happening, and too often mommy-type vtubers end up breaking that safe calm vibe to get a sex joke in there somewhere which takes away from the overall experience.
I lean towards Fauna being an onee-san, but i completely see why lots of saplings - and even Holomyth themselves - see her as a mommy.
For how many clips we saw of her in this video, I was really hoping I could hear nousagi's take on the Mio-mama. Like, how other members interact with her strengthens her mommy role. A bit of a missed opportunity maybe to not go to the streamer who gets mother day donations from fans (the clip was shown!)

There was a trivia question that asked which of the talents had the most motherly feel, and Fauna won by a PARSEC.
Fauna has always striked me as an older sister type, of girl-next-door, she feels too young to be mommy.
The only vtubers that makes me think "mommy" are Nina from NijiEN and Mio from HoloJP. That's it, they feel mature and experienced, they also very rarely become flustered.
With Nina (and kind of Mio, but I can't speak of her much because I have pretty much never watched her and 4chan hag love memes, might be pushing her more towards "mommy" in my mind) feels less like "mommy" and more like "mother" to me.

Fauna is my oshi i watch (listen) all her streams.
I've never saw her as an overall mommy type, rather as a cool but kinda clumsy aunt that visit's from time to time.
I just like her Voice it gives me a comfy feeling, but not in a mommy way, i cannot really describe it.
If i have to describe the feeling fauna gives me... rather really cute i have the urge to cuddle her all the time (thats the only way i can describe it).

Another underrated vtuber mommy I HIGHLY recommend that's not just a shallow coomer horni bait is "Rui Amagami". She's a solo japanese vtuber that can speak both English and japanese so fluently that she can switch between them really smoothly. Due to her being full blood japanese but she was born and grew up in america.
Especially by far, Rui's voice is the mommiest sounding voice I've heard so far. More on the older and deeper side of voice. And she does ASMR, positive affirmations and casual chatting stream without overly trying too hard to be a mommy type of vtuber. I highly recommend her ASMR videos and script reading videos that she does.
I can't recommend her enough if someone's looking for an even older and mature type of mommy vtuber. 🙏

Seriously, having never had a caring mother figure in real life, this mommy thing has really helped me mentally. I know it's totally parasocial but the warmth and comfort they provide is something I've always been lacking. It's so nice to just hear someone who (pretends) to genuinely love and care for you. She is soothing to listen she is a secret tryhard gamer and just all around a green ball of fluffy feelings.

Ceres Fauna pidgeonholed herself. She's too naturally mommy to be an onee san. It helps that her voice and the way she talks, instead of being sultry, is comfy, which encourages the motherly aspect.
I also like that Fauna's design doesn't play into mommy stereotypes. It's this lack of stereotyping which makes her persona feel more natural. You don't immediately expect a mommy when you see her, which makes her personality hit you even harder when you listen to her.
Honestly I can't believe I slept on her so long. She's easily my top 3, maybe even most favorite, vtuber.

Your bit about VSHOJO hits the nail right on the head for me, and applies to a decent chunk of EN vtubing as well.
