This is just Part 1 of this rescue video. There will be a part 2 that hopefully includes the first drive.

A little bit of trivia: Those are real famous in Brazil, here they were sold as VW Parati, this body specifically in ~1986. We absolutely love those squarebody VWs, we had a hatchback version called VW Gol, designed in Brazil, you guys might want to check it out. I understand parts for these cars can be hard to find in the US, but here they're dirt cheap, we joke they're so common we find them at local grocery shops. I hope you guys enjoy every second working in that car!

Thank you. The taillights I ordered for it came from Brazil. I remember seeing the Parati name in the item description.

Yep, I'm old. I test drove a Fox wagon when they were new. I passed on it because the local VW dealer was shady at best. Neat little cars.
Sam - Great work on the driving and cleaning of the Fox. I know when my Sam was younger he helped me out a lot. He was the only kid in elementary school that could jack up a car and swap the tires out by himself (supervised of course).

TexasHillbilly:: Douglas tires are made by Goodyear, I've never had any issues with them, they stay round and steel belts don't wander during their service life. Bosch CIS is simple Mechanical Injection, it's imperative fuel in distributor is sterile and there are ZERO vacuum leaks or it will screw up fuel delivery as the metering rod in distributor is activated- controled by plenum plunger. My old Peugeot wagon is CIS fed, never had any issues beyond regular fuel filter changes and occasionally using carburetor cleaner to check for any vacuum leaks at: manifold, injector o-rings,brake booster, cruise, HVAC vacuum lines.

@@mtrgvActually,the computer is primarily in place for idle and lower emissions at part throttle. Once throttle is opened up beyond part throttle, the computer and frequency valve on fuel distributor, idle speed ( by way of bypass air valve) are no longer used and block mounted fuel pressure regulator goes back to full cold start pressure mode. Fuel injection can be made to work constantly ( no computer needed)by bypassing frequency valve on fuel distributor

I had a set of 13" Douglas tires on a Suzuki Swift GTi I used to have. They were good. Ran them until I turned it into a track only car.

The brazilian version of that engine never received the mechanical fuel injection. VW used carbs for a long time before changing to efi in the 90's. hope you get that system sorted out!

I'll be going to Germany with a few friends during the summer, so if you need any small parts, post a list and I'll see if I can get some of them for you. What year is the Fox? and engine size in liters. Okay.

Just found your channel, LOVE IT, especially since y’all are here in Texas(I’m in Frisco).
For the mildew on the paint, try D-Germ. I found it from Junkyard Digs channel. You can order it from Menards. They are the northern Home Depot/Lowes. It does a great job. In expensive too!
Now I have to catch up on your other videos. Keep up the good work Sam!!!

Thanks for the tip. I think I've seen it mentioned on a Junkyard Digs video before as well. Thanks for your support and for taking the time to watch our videos.

I remember seeing theses Fox's everywhere in Germany in 1986!! The injection system is a partial electronic and mostly mechanical fuel injection. You'll figure it out, you're wicked smart. You have a great wife that supports your automotive adventures! What parts did you have to get for the Omni ?

    • @TexasHillbilly
      @TexasHillbilly  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for the kind words. On the Omni we replaced nearly everything in the fuel system.

Ah yeah you gotta love a 2 door wagon my first car was a Datsun sunny panelvan! Actually this is kind of a confusing vw model ( for me initially anyway). I had a b2 Passat wagon years ago which was called a dasher in states so kinda familiar with them, audi fox, audi 80, 100 etc. I was totally thinking the short nose on that thing it must of been rabbit based, very surprised when you cracked the hood on it to see the north south layout. Too bad it don't have the little diesel number in it. But if it's the same as the Passat which it certainly looks like it, it's only really the engine it shares with the rabbit/golf everything else will be Passat or Audi which can be tricky finding a donor car to pilfer bits off. Hopefully not in the states though, was in Australia though. Best of luck with it.

It will most likely be August 9th. TH-cam has demonetized my channel due to a technicality. It should be fixed by then and I’ll post new content. I have videos ready to drop. If I can post sooner than the 9th, I will.

Hi, Please could you tell me what the product name is , or what are those white sticks made of / called, that you are using to pull out those dents ? Top stuff !
Do you know the Hot Water and Ice Trick - also a good method for pulling out dents, particularly on plastic bumpers.
    Cheers from 🇳🇿 😎M.

They’re just some glue sticks that I stole from the wife’s craft supplies. They work pretty well for dings!
