Both me and Sophie do monthly lives if you fancy joining one of those (i mention when they are on via my community) We also do more content on patreon and live chat on discord!
My girlfriend said to me today as I was makeing my chop for the next few days"hey why are the birds getting an awesome salad and we're eating a frozen pizza" then I got the bird to land in her hand for the first time and she understood
Haha! I love this! She knew the moment they landed! We frequently have the same discussion then baby Olive does something cute and it's ..."oh" We are trying to eat healthier too though!
Love it! My birds love their chop to be super fine. I’m gonna try grating their carrots next chop day for sure. Never thought to grate some of the veggies.
Didn't know parsnip could be eaten raw! Might give that a try next week. Thank you for the great video! (Glad I'm not the only one who makes a mess, preparing my birds veggies haha!)
I personally love and enjoy making the recipes of the seasonal feeding system by BirdTricks (I really like it because it has a lot of ingredients and the balance is really thought out), regardless I am so happy and glad you show recipes so everyone can make a healthy diet for their parrots. Do you have a video about the dietary requirements for parrots, and how to make sense of them in diet plan? That is kind of nerdy of me but I would love to watch a video about that
Hey Guy, That material is definitely pending. Both me and Sophie are currently doing an accredited course in Animal Nutrition specialising in Avian nutrition. We then intend to do ANOTHER course specific to birds after. Once we've done both we will likely do more detailed videos on dietary balance and requirements. They will likely pop up on patreon first though as there isn't much demand on here for it!
Great Video, tank you. Here in Austria we have different opinions about green beans. Many say they are poisonous when eaten raw - even when eaten by Birds. What do you think about this? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Hey Artemis, Are you talking about the produce item? As in a vegetable? If so the veggie is perfectly safe! If you're talking about legume green bean or soup bean then yes it is not good at all fed raw! You can sprout and soak some, but it's always best to double check.
@@artemis980 Really?! That's honestly the first time I've ever heard that. What makes you say that? I mean where did the information come from? I'm sat on my PC waiting for Sophie to finish a zoom meeting in the other room lol
@@TheParrotTeacher Beans - contain the poisonous phasin in the pod, which is why they should be offered without the pod or in a cooked state. That's what they say in some bird forums here. I'd be happy if that wasn't true.
@@artemis980 that sounds like something a bit unusual and is the first I’ve heard of it. The green beans I use in the video are perfectly safe and this has been verified. Matured beans (legumes) need to be cooked and we don’t serve them to our birds. But that is completely different. I’d also be careful what you believe in forums. I’ve seen people posting that coffee is safe whereas citrus isn’t in some.
For some reason, Jasper won't eat chop unless everything is disgusting and unrecognizable, but either fruit or vegetable separately and whole, he does fine with.😄
Hey Ernie, That's not uncommon at all! Some parrots can be really individual about how they like to eat certain things! For example Scampi dislikes his red pepper in too small pieces, or Olive who likes her banana in cubes! It's like hiding veggies with kids to get them to eat them haha
Hi David. My cockatiel and my budgie will not eat chop. I’ve tried various combinations, textures, colors, containers, and feeding times. I’ve tried removing their pellets over night and giving chop in the morning. And I’ve tried kabobs and foraging toys with fruits and veggies. I even tried very pricey dehydrated veggies. The only thing my cockatiel will eat are spinach leaves. The budgie won’t eat anything thats not a seed or pellet. I’ll keep offering and hoping. Thanks for making your videos.
Hey Charles, Sorry to hear that. Honestly with diet conversion it's mostly about persistence and just continually offering in different ways! Have sprouts or soaked items worked at all? Or herbs?
I would love to see some more live content - that would be great!

The oregano acts as a preservative? Interesting. Also that parrots care about presentation. They are like people in so many ways.
It can do yes!
It's mostly to do with how they perceive things. We touched on it in our recent nutritional enrichment course!
Again, amazing vid!! The chop looks wonderfully healthy and delicious! The birds look very eager for their food :D
Thank you Candice!
Scampi was eager for his pepper lol

Some parrots definitely love that! I know many who like super fine chop!
You can use a food processor for that if you want! EASY PEASY
My pineapple is going to love this 😀
Hopefully they enjoy it lots! You can put your own twists on it too!

Excellent information as usual, thankyou
My pleasure!

Is the corn cooked?
It’s freeze dried!
How long does chop stay good in the fridge?
It depends on a few factors (storing in air tight container, freshness of ingredients etc) but as a rule 5-7 days!

Thanks David! I’m making chop today. Do you add the greens in later?
Thanks Sharell,
If you mean leafy greens, sometimes we prefer to serve them up separately, for example in whole leaves or shredded over the chop!

The glass one? Oregano!
The Baby cockatiel (3-4 months old) can eat this?

They sure can! Some cockatiel breeders part wean babies onto a mix of seed a veggies.
