@@cfwhitney I think it was the regional broadcaster who had camerapeople on stage. I guess the original poster bunnyflint might fill you in. He was both Cardiacs fan no.1 in my hometown AND working for that broadcaster at the time iirc
@@unknown6390 Well, you can see from Bunny's footage I guess. Some really like it, some are just bewildered. As it was a festival there was not really the fandom-thing going on you see in footage where it's just Cardiacs headlining. But since Cardiacs had played in Leeuwarden before in 1988 there were people in the audience who knew them and wanted to see them again. Like me and mister Bunny Flint himself ;)
I wondered what he hears in the headphones- A sequence for the entire song w/occasional keyboard parts? or is he so good, he just stays in time, knowing the keyboard part is coming up? Do you know if those are the old keyboard players actual parts, or is it all rewritten/sequenced for the post keyboards band? they make it look easy
@@criops I read somewhere that a fellow musician got a chance to listen to his headphone mix - it was just a deafeningly loud click track. He would certainly need a click throughout. Probably with prerecorded and live parts mixed in. Not much fun for him, poor old Bob - maybe we should beat him senseless? To my ears, the keyboard and other prerecorded parts always sounded a little different live than the record. Stripped down and more obviously sequenced/quantised, perhaps to help with timing. Maybe Kavus or someone else will tell us one day? Although I'm hoping not to find out TOO much...
@@criopsI like to imagine there was no click track and that it was just a recording of Tim shouting "SPEED UP! SLOW DOWN! STOP! THREE! THREE! NOW FOUR! STOP! SLOW DOWN AGAIN!"
This is brilliant why did I only discover them after the lead artist has passed grrrr it makes me wonder how many fantastic bands like this remain relatively obscure because most people struggle to get into it (this band were completely instant for me), saying that I don't think it would be very common to find people capable of memorising all this complex music to play live, no idea how they did it.
Thank you all for your reactions. Worthy of . . (you know) . . ! I have uploaded the final raw uncut track of the Frozenland concert (Duck & Roger). Soon to come: uploads of my/our very own former (1991-1995) band 'Les Chouchoux de la Maïtresse', inspired and often compared to Cardiacs. :-)
You can see that Tim gets a little annoyed because of the brutal camgirl on stage. Looks like he even bumped her. When he sings 'man stand far away' (at 3'29'') he looks in the camera and holds up 2 fingers as to say 'stand far away, two metres!' I almost felt guilty editing that . .
This band left GB far too little. The rest of us might have noticed them in time if they'd been a bit more out and about. Damn, I wish I could have seen them!
I was there. Totally unforgettable. Happiness.
I hate you :P
What's with the onstage cameraman. Do you recall?

Hats off to Bob Leith for his uncanny ability to stay with all that very difficult sequenced material. So much more than playing to a click track.

The way they snap into place perfectly at 1:16 is really impressive.
0:13 best part of this clip.
I am very proud to offer this historic moment to all the fishes in the pond 😇🤌✨💖
Saw Cardiacs so many times between 87-90 as the seven piece. Truly superb memories. RIP Tim. X

Love these gig videos. Why did I only get into Cardiacs recently?
Better late than never, you're still part of an exclusive club simply by getting into Cardiacs at all :D

I thought that was kind of a UK version of what Americans use the middle finger for
@@That_Idiot_Bass_Player Yes it is!
All of it it was brilliant, but the twin guitar line-up just nudges ahead!

spoon lifts moon sounds like them
Judging by the flag at the beginning this is in Friesland, not Holland.
Nice performance.
Nah, I'm sure he was just having a bit of fun.
Fantastic!!!!
