I was diagnosed with ALS on July 14, 2020 at the age of 54. I was in a clinical trial for 2 years at Mass General Hospital and unfortunately I had to withdraw due to drug complications. Leah, I truly understand your battle, obstacles and sense of urgency. Hopefully the PHENOMENAL neurologists at Mass General learned from me and both of our efforts will move the needle forward. God bless.

I lost my Niece to ALS recently. She was in her early 40s and left behind her husband of 20+ years, and a 10-yr-old daughter. She fought so hard to get NurOwn Mesenchymal ALS Therapy approved which is not a cure, however it could give people with ALS a chance for added time. It breaks my heart knowing that there are drugs out there that might make a difference, however it takes years and incredible amounts of money to get them to begin the trials. NurOwn has been ready for trials for over 10 years and yet no one has had the opportunity to go through the process. If I were given a terminal diagnosis and had the chance to try medications that might extend my life, I would certainly choose that option as opposed to trying nothing. I pray that you get the chance to try whatever medications are available out there. I pray your father can push the research and speed it up. Time is the enemy. God Bless you and your family and may he give you and your family continued strength and comfort.

What a crock of sh*t @@emmalazarus1282 .. either you never had ALS, or you are lying for $$$. Your Dr Chala from West Africa and his/her natural treatment is irrelevant, ineffective and probably designed to make money for his/her business, but superstitious Africa is full of this desperate money making shamanism with no evidence base whatsoever. Total primitive and useless b.s. (or the drug company would have been on to it). Remember this video is a plea by a drug company to get more funding to make more money and get someone else...i.e. the taxpayer to fund it, nothing more. Stop publicizing trash and giving false hope to people with a serious, and currently incurable condition. More research is needed to cure this hideous disease, but it aint gonna come out of some phony shaman from West Africa.

The third one I said omg here I go again not really liking her and 2 years ago she developed ALS. I didn't realize how close we had become. When she passed recently this year from it (it moved very aggressively) I was taught what true heartbreak really is. For my sister in law as well as to watch my brother who loved her more than life had to endure. Hate of any kind is awful. These neuromuscular or MD umbrella diseases really are prevalent.
I was born with hereditary Charcot Marie Tooth Disease in 1957. They knew something was really wrong when I was 1 but they didn't know what until I was 17 when they said I had hereditary peripheral nerve disease. We really didn't understand it much until
I was 31 and had genetic testing telling us CMT.
My Mother was diagnosed at about age 62 and my brother and sister were diagnosed.
I had had 4 children before we knew their was a 50/50 rate of passing it along and 2 of them were eventually diagnosed also.
This disease is progressive but much more slowly than ALS.
I have been hoping help such as better treatments and even a cure for these diseases would be found for 65 years.

1 in 300 in nowhere near accurate.
Approximately 5,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year. The incidence of ALS is two per 100,000 people, and it is estimated that at least 16,000 Americans may be living with ALS at any given time.
    Above is the true number.
