I love African-American women like Ida B Wells, Isabel Wilkerson, Ava Duvernay, Nicole Hannah Jones, Michelle Alexander, Melissa Victoria Harris - Perry (formally known as Melissa Victoria Harris - Lacewell, is an American writer, professor, television host, and political commentator), with a focus on African-American policies and politics (Who has made a positive difference for us all to follow and emulate). You all make me a proud African-American, and spark much Joy in me and many others, and make the world a better place to live in for us all and future generations! I loved Isabel’s masterpiece book “The Warmth of Other Suns”. Her book “Caste” did not get the recognition it deserves because it cuts too close to the bone concerning what BIPOC lives with in the USA Today. Think You, Ava Duvernay for making the deserved recognition happen for Isabel Wilkerson. God bless you for being so wonderful, brilliant, and vivacious! You made my TH-cam playlist and day.
What an awesome interview. He asked the best questions I’ve heard in an interview. They’re questions that allowed me to understand Ava’s journey so much more ❤ Thank you ❤
Ava is a great example of intelligence combined with passion and reality to reveal human truths ❤❤❤Thank you Ava for providing a voice for the unheard that have been hidden for too long. History is a fact we should learn from not justify. ❤❤❤
01/29/2024: This movie is excellent. It is entertaining and educational. I plan on buying the movie. I have love actress Aunjane Ellis-Taylor since "Girls Town" and "Undercover Brother", her performance in this is outstanding. Now, I have to read the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.
The book is excellent. I just finished it yesterday, and you will be forever changed. Like you, I will be purchasing the movie and book. It's my plan to incorporate Ms. Wilkerson's work into my teaching. If you're in Toronto, the public library has the e-book and audiobook if you're interested.
@@Harriz62 You wish. She left because she didn’t want to be their stooge. With rare exception these studios don’t want the directors to have creative control. Maybe if you saw any of her films you’d know how highly competent she is. Get lost.
@@Harriz62 You actually are filled with fear and jealousy of this woman. If she were inconsequential you wouldn’t be commenting about her. You wouldn’t care. I wonder what about her makes you scared.

Ava DuVernay is an extraordinary human being and filmmaker. This was a good interview but somewhat strange as to why the broadcaster would seek to extrapolate the systematic oppression of Palestinians away from the rest of humanity and to double down on the point. No human beings are chosen, as any more special than our neighbors or of less worth to humanity. The economics of oppressors dictate the perceived value of the oppressed. That inconsistency didn't go by us. Testimony to the power and grace of Miss DuVernay who is a mighty force with much more to contribute.
The shot of the back of her head recurring so often is distracting, unnecessary and unflattering. Im so distracted that I had to stop watching and try to listen while I type this because I can't stand seeing the back of her head blurred. I don't have much time to consume media and I just found out about this film and Im binging....but now I gotta watch this twice.

common to racism, caste & all systems of othering begins with the dehumanization of select individuals &/or groups of people while completely missing the fact that a high tide lifts all boats
Amazing woman and Director please keep all comments she deserve her trophies and flowers well done Ava 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 we have always applauded

Brilliant. It's fascinating that she couldn't get a studio to finance this as it is. It says a lot.
Magnificent movie, Queen DuVernay, congratulations!! 🔥🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Just saw last night. Mannnnn I definitely cried.
I cannot wait for it to show in Australia.
Brilliant, and so very gracious!❤

best interview yet! i just saw the film. My mind is blown, it was so beautifully and powerfully made. I highly recommend!
I’d love to see her do a superhero film. Not necessarily Marvel or DC, but her take on sci-fi superheroes.
Oh, they put her on a project then fired her because she's incompetent.

Why was he focused on the slave ship? She redirected to the difficulty of the other scenes and he comes back to it🤔🙄
That wasn’t the only place where he tried it and she had to pivot the interview. She wasn’t having it. 😂😂😂

her movie is a huge flop......
this should make you happy...when something flops.
i admire her for continuing to get out there and promote stuff in spite of so many fails...@@ReadWell572
