When I was a kid my dad gave me a copy of the Lord of the Rings, and it took me until I was older to realize that Aragorn is basically the quintessential paragon of masculine virtue. If you’re ever wondering what a true man looks like, it’s basically that. Aragorn didn’t care about his riches or his power, or how many women he seduced. He cared about protecting the realms of those who could not protect themselves. He didn’t rush back to Gondor, but rather hung out near the Shire because the Shire had no defenses. He led men into battle when needed but was content to be alone if it meant fulfilling his mission in life. He was a skilled healer and healed wounds caused by the darkness of the Nazgûl because of his purity. Importantly when the elves felt the calling to leave Middle Earth because of the corruption and darkness of Mordor spreading into the land, Aragorns mortality and humanity allowed him to stay and face the darkness without being diminished by it.

Aragorn is basically a superhero. Tall, strong, gifted with almost unlimited lifespan with a noble Numenorian heritage. Not that relatable to be honest. The Count of Monte Cristo is a lot better model for a common man in my opinion of course.

However, calculated plans and action is the only thing that impacts change.

That story struck with me. I have recently become alone and I am worried that will happen to me. It sucks to just exist on your own. There really needs to be more communities and outreach for men who feel alone. I can literally spend days and days in my own home with just my dog without anyone checking up on me.
Part of the reason I came to your channel in the first place. To make myself better so I can eventually find a partner and friends as my self esteem is pretty low at the moment.

Man I knew from your tone at the start of this video that this was gonna be a real one. The story you told about the dad really shook me and you allowing yourself to be vulnerable and so raw really made this probably one of your best videos.

Antonio, this is probably the best video from you that I've seen. I appreciate you being vulnerable with/to us (your audience) one of my biggest fears is dying alone so I really appreciate you sharing that story. I had a stroke when I was 27 and behind it, I became severely depressed through exercise and general self-care and self-love I pulled out of the depression without therapy or medication. I get you when you said that you NEED to workout and exercise to regulate your emotional well-being. Great video!

Antonio, I love your channel. I’m 47 years old and I love your style tips, I try to (within my budget) follow what you say with style. Your fragrance tips…well…you’re trying, lol. In all seriousness, I think this was the most important video you’ve made for young men. This is so spot on and I wish there was someone like this giving advice to us when we were young. Love you, brother. Thank you.

My God Antonio. That story was just heartbreaking. It's something I myself fear happening if I leave my son alone with my dad. My dad isn't in the best of health and sometimes I fear something might happen to him while watching little Diego. Before I used to feel a failure for having to live back with my parents after 35 y.o. and a bad break-up. Now I feel thankfull that I am in a position to care for my parents in their old age. That you so much for sharing that, it hurt my soul and made me cry; but thank you.

I live in the UK and I heard about that story. It says a lot about society but also the scale of being a parent. Young kids rely on their parents for EVERYTHING. A lot of people don't think about that before having kids.

Fantastic video! I empathize with the story about the man and child. When we had our girls I chose to be a work from home dad while my wife taught. I worked hard as a freelancer to get enough projects in to cover bills while watching the kids during the day. This led to an average of 4 hours of sleep per night for years, which in part led to high blood pressure (because it wasnt good sleep and energy drinks to help me stay awake) and all the time at the desk and carrying baby gear led to an eventual hospital stay and back surgery. During this period I was so worried about having a heart attack and dying, leaving our infant and toddler on their own in the house with my body that I had my wife text me during her lunch break daily to verify I was still alive. It was a terrifying time that I am happy I have made it through and found better health (and sleep) on the other side. Two weeks is absolutely heartbreaking. Thank you for not editing your emotions out!

You hands down have one of the best channels for young men on TH-cam! I really respect your willingness to share your experiences openly and honestly. I struggled a lot after my 10 years in the Corps. I felt like life kept knocking me down. I kept getting up though, kept grinding, kept my honor and integrity. Yesterday I just landed a massive life changing promotion at work. Know this brothers, your commitment will pay off over time. This would have never been possible if I wasn’t vulnerable enough to admit I needed help. Keep your eyes on the horizon and don’t chase the quick route feel good route. Semper Fi brother. Much respect and love!

Heartbreaking story on Mr. Kenneth Battersby and his son Bronson. To have no one to check on you is a sad story in itself.
In my case, I feel like I’m the only one checking on, calling people.. everyone else seems to be so busy with themselves. And if they do gather, somehow I’m left out of that. Finding the balance and wisdom in this chapter of my life.

I just found your channel yesterday so this is only the second video of yours I have viewed. Solid work on this. I subscribed after the first one.
I'll be 65 in a few months and can echo many of the items you listed. I've been teaching college leadership and management courses for 25 years after 22 years of military service and one thing I stress to my students has been the concept of living an honorable life.
I liked your story about going after the philosophy degree. I am doing something similar only with anthropology (three classes left). I am getting it to enrich myself and when paired with my other degrees gives me even more perspective - which is also making me a better teacher.
And thank you for sharing that story of the man and his son. That is incredibly sad and reminded me of how I felt when I read about the actor/singer David Cassidy passing away in 2017 and what his daughter, actress Katie Cassidy, reported as his final words: "So much wasted time." To think that should be anyone's last thoughts had me crying for a good while.
I look forward to watching your many videos past, present, and future. Fortis Mane!

One of your final sentances revealing you havent quite fully found your purpose is probably one of the most impactful points ive heard. It makes it feel as if at 35 without a clue what my purpose is, perhaps im not that far behind as i think.
I tend to get caught up in jealousy often when creators talk of finding your purpose as i struggle to know my own. Knowing even someone with the levels of success that youve attained is similarly struggling relieved so much anxiety and stress of not being good enough.

being “masculine” is amoral, a man can be a good or bad person and still be masculine. Traditional masculine traits include stoicism willpower paternalism mentoring physical dominance mental fortitude etc. all these forces can be used in any way possible because ethics are not a prerequisite.

What a lovely video. Thank you for your honesty. My father was a bit of a mess, he had a severe drinking problem and struggled all of his life to commit to something. He lived on the edges and when he died he simply disappeared…his legacy was almost nothing. What you say about commitment is so true. It’s the old adage…being there is everything. You may not have all the answers, but you are there and it means everything.

The story of the 2 year old toddler who died
Was in my county in a seaside town called Skegness one of the worst places to live in the uk. Child services and the police ignored multiple calls for a welfare check. They even went to check after a week but the door was locked so they left and came back to break the door down a week later. I couldn’t believe something so awful was able to happen so needlessly
