I miss Maze! I believe once he fully recovers he's going back up to top 10 again!
U can see the injury is not over yet. Hope he is fit in time for the WTTC. Great to see such a colorful player back around. Back one match and already 5-10 amazing shots pulled off. =)
I like Maze even more now. He was my favorite player before, but his tattoos really color up the table tennis circuit!
personally i think wang hao has the best pengrip backhand. He delivers the most spin throughout his stroke rather than ma lin who tries to deflect it back
Finally back! It's really nice to see him again. Hopefully he can play at WTTC at his maximum :)

The only reason Maze played was what ttaus3 said. He had to preserve his ranking in order to qualify for the Olympics and he did so by just showing up. He was still in the middle of his injury here.
He is so relax with his backhand... new tactics to work I think when I will recover his shoulder.
Maze's backhand sidespin is AWESOME !
@mahmooddr Actually, Maze is a great fighter. He beat Timo Boll in the European Championship Finals and played one of the best comeback matches in table tennis history. He may not be top 5, but he can be very dangerous.
I can tell you that he is still very much enjoying this game. Wang Hao was playing so well, that it seemed like Michael didn't seem to feel like trying. He just couldn't do anything.

@tppguy o he was, maze style of play didn't let him to go to full potential, if maze improves his footwork and overall form to rotterdam he could be a factor!!!

@22christos I the expressed myself badly. I found it strange That he has blocked some balls passively, Usually it puts topspin on the ball, away from the table. In Other balls, he made some unforced errors. he seems no time for ball (feeling).
Of course he played with Wang Hao...
an astonishing game anyways, somehow there doesn't develop a certain pace or flow of game. mostly this is caused by maze's new return techniques. he worked on his backhand even further, which won him the ETTC title.
although his backhand is very good, he still lacks the forehand from his "not-injured-yet" days. especially in the middle of the table he plays way too much backhand, instead of steppin around and going for the kill with the forehand.
Well the truth is after he won this match he had left because of a serious injury and he didn't really play in any games for this year as well but he was in rehab and he's ready to get the show on the road at London B) i wish him best of Luck

Europeans tend to have very elaborate and personalised serves (Samsonov, Maze, Boll, Otcharov) while Asians tend to just throw the ball up, spin the ball a bit and get on with the game.

I honestly hate Chinese players. I don't hate the people in general, just their approach on TT. They're obviously the best but they're machines, none of them is fun to watch. But I have to give Wang Hao some credit. He's the most driven TT player I've ever seen. This guy is never down until the umpire flips 11 for his opponent. Love Maze's games though. It's good to see some human emotions against those Chinese machines

maze's backhand is incredible but he is going to much risk with it, too much unforced errors.
