Thanks for reviewing, I’ve been using as my default OS on a Raspberry Pi 4 and a 400 for some time now and love it. You still have access to all the Raspberry Pi OS apps, plus great themes, plus a brilliantly curated selection of apps for productivity and gaming. Run off a USB 3 SSD and you’re flying.
First time on your channel, I like your style and the nice fast pace to cover the essentials thats all I want and if I need lots of detail I can go do a bit more research myself.
I know nothing about this rasp pi thing; however I purchased the raspi4- 4gb and installed twister OS. This was a great intro into linux and fine myself going direct to the pi4 instead of my windows machine. I use this pi4 interfaced for amature radio data mode. Tha is for a great review. I subscribed to follow a d learn more.
Nice review. Appreciate it if you could zoom the video in on the windows that your are talking about instead of the entire screen. This will hel us see more clearly what you are pointing to in your narrations.
I know, right??!! So many TH-camrs get this wrong. He should use screen capture software that easily allows for zooming in. And then place the affiliate code in the description to make a few bucks.
I got a pi 4 for Christmas and have been debating what to put on it. I’ve see. Twister OS and thought that’s a lot of bloat for a little arm processor, I just thought it was a bunch of themes. But wow 399 mb is truly impressive.
Great fun. Great looks. Well stocked app wise. Great out of the box experience and best OS for RPi. All the goodness of Raspberry OS, stable and low resource use, but with fancy Twister GUI overlay. Try PC version too, built on top of Xubuntu Linux.
This whole palaver reminds of a Ben Heck video where he was working on a Raspberry Pi. He gets to the point of first boot on the Pi with... I'm not sure if it was Raspbian or Retropie, but he saw that it was pre-configured to en-GB and he says, out loud... "British... huh-huh dumb..." As a British person, that pissed me off because, like you, I've lost count of the amount of times that I've had to to what you've had to do here, reconfigure my computer *FROM* en-US *TO* en-GB. If I was you, making this video, I'd had said, out loud... *"ARE YOU VWATCHING BEN HECK?! THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO DO ALL THE TIME AND IT'S **_OUR_** LANGUAGE, YOU SODDING COLONIAL!!"* ...as I reconfigured to locale preferences.
I commented on your Discord server, but it occurred to me this comment is probably better posted here... From what I've read in their FAQ, they've only customized the default user. I'd be interested to see what your thoughts are of running as a different user. I don't think this is a common pi use case, so it's probably not a big deal. But I was a bit disappointed when I read that.
hi Tyler, thanks for the great content. i was wondering, could you go over artix linux with a premade iso (maybe on a legacy system?)? thank you again! :)
I have the Twister os on my Pi400 and when I try to chane the desktop to win 10 is just goes back to the Twister desktop. It used to work. I have dl Twister several times and tried several sd cards, love it but I really like the win 10 screen.any ideas what couldbe wrong. Thanks, Mike
Simple question, so if it's name is Raspbian so it means it debian based and we can install deb and apt packages, right? Would it work flawlessly on Laptops?
Bro.. I didn't have money to buy a MacBook, so I built a Raspberry Pi cluster. I'm trying to use it like a MacBook, but I have a question. 1. Is it compatible with Bluetooth MacBook keyboard? 2. Can I install and use IntelliJ for MacOs? I would like to try it if possible.
I see the requirements say 1080p screen, I have like 10 of those, thats not the issue, I'm building a portable pi project and was wondering if this would suck on a 7inch touchscreen 1024x600?
Be careful setting your password before you set the keyboard and country layout. I've accidentally created passwords that I can't figure out how to type by doing that.
It's coming. Will be doing some hardware upgrades too so will be a little bit more of a wait than originally planned. Will try make a cool little setup and run through video of everything though. Including the second computer thats used as a server and capture machine. Thanks for being patient (:
I feel you. Most ridiculous design invention ever made! For power users this is annoying and it does not help productivity at all. It's against ergonomic rules as well. Please designers, don't screw UIs further and don't scale up all the items and text anymore. These days I need to scroll around on HD+ size displays to read 10 lines on a webpage, what are you smoking? Software on my 640x480 monitor back in the days did not need scrolling and showed more useful information at once.
I really don't understand copying program icons into theme. Like how someone has even thought that it's good idea to copy say MS Word icon and slap it into Libreoffice Writer?!? I would understand if you would copy icon, but then change it's W into LW or something like that. But copying icons is just stupid for programs imo. Like that W7 theme has Explorer icon replacing Chome. That doesn't make any fucking sense at all.
Indeed I am feeling aparently easier and light weighted by far with a #TwisterOS, specifically after all awkwardness of #Ubuntu20.10 on my #RaspberryPi4b 8 gig. Though overclocking CPU for in my case on 2100 hgz is a must to enjoy the experience outright. 👌😁
@@dinozaurpickupline4221 Chromebooks have a more powerful CPU. On the other hand, Chrome OS is not something I love very much. Although Raspberry Pi 4B variants with 8GB RAM should work fine, I think if I was a user with a dire need of all these things packed up in Twister OS, I would buy a low-end laptop or a mini-desktop and avoid putting that much pressure on a small SBC. However, I'll honestly say that Twister OS is an incredible work of love and passion.
Thanks for this video. It's saved me completely wasting time installing this OS with all its gimmicks and Windows themed desktops, emulators, and "authentic" sounds. I appreciate it might be an attractive OS to other Linux users, but certainly not me.

This raspberry is arm and could run x86? maybe ARM is the future,.. hmm...

This is the best OS you will find for raspberry pi when it comes to games atm.
I almost read it as "TwitterOS"
President Trump's banned from that distro, lol
Haha same :P
Me too, I was so worried for a moment
"Don't like it, make your own distr- wait what? no"
Before seeing your comment, I thought it was TwitterOS :-)
The good old Windows XP! Good times! this is really nice! the best theme ever! =)

Those are some great desktop themes. I'm gonna download Twister UI for Mint.
I’m getting my first ever pi and I’m just learning about raspberry os I think this gonna be one of my first item I’ll get in it. Thanks

u have to create icon cache "gtk-update-icon-cache /dir" some of this long menu loads happens because of noncached icons.

Wow.
Can you run this in a very old laptop? Or is this pi only?
First, download Twister OS. Try using Balena to flash or send the OS to your hdd. Your comp should now boot into Twister
theres so many stuff preinstalled, no wonder the iso is 3GB

Cool
the vast majority of distros have little to nothing in the way of accessibility, windows beats our side there. their screen reader for instance.
It's that sort of thing that holds Linux back from becoming a mainstream desktop OS. They're all built _by_ programmers, _for_ programmers.

Hi all.
Why
Will this run on a computer as well.
Define “computer”?
Yes, a Raspberry PI is a computer.
If by computer you meant a PC that runs Windows, then no, different CPU and architecture.
If by "computer" you meant Desktop or Laptop, try this: twisteros.com/twisterui.html
Yes twister os runs on pc, laptop, and raspberry pi
