There is a well studied phenomenon in marathon runners, that people who happened to get sick just before a big performance often give a record setting performance. Tim Noakes (Lore of Running) writes about this in his seminal book. It's been observed multiple times, the logic is that if you get appendicitis the week before an event and are bedridden and have an unsuspected lapse in training, you are getting the mandatory rest that most athletes do not get, ie, EVERYBODY IS OVERTRAINING most of the time. This is besides the psychological aspect of going in without extra stress and cortisol dump.
I was a white belt and only went to share time with my son. Only I have great hips and unusually strength endurance. I caught a black belt off guard and got him into a guillotine right off the rip. Technique was not great, but with my strength I could just push his jaw in. I am no superstar and knew I did something out of character and caught him. I let it go and we continued to roll and I he would point out my mistakes and placed my limbs where they would not be in threat or just worked on my weaknesses and for him to work on dealing with a much bigger, stronger opponent. I was that guy, the guy you test yourself with to see how good your BJJ was in real life situations. I tell, this because I never tried to hurt anyone or be rough. On top of that we had a well rounded fighter that liked to fight and you wanted to be an ass, he roll with you and put you in your place.
To add to this, don’t leg lock people unless they agree to it. Most people in local gyms this is something they do to learn and have real jobs and families to support. I say this to, like the one dude I mentioned, he lived martial arts and was like a high level Mutai and other forms so he was an enforcer. Myself I got caught in a triangle and a bar and dude got cocky and I picked him up like a kid and about power bombed him and the instructor saw what was happening.
most people take care of eachother, especially just hobby training. it was a big worry for me before i started years ago. Go for it, you'll have a great time.
Had the same thoughts, but man, am I happy to have started. Nicest team ever, no overly risky bs. Became friends with some of em to a point that we hang out in our freetime.
For some people in Eastern Europe, wrestling and BJJ is their whole life. They would rather tap Craig in a one-off than win ADCC, but Craig rolls with the best guys every other day. You will never get the best of him as an amateur, and instead of leaving with knowledge, you leave with a destroyed knee that will never feel the same again. These people have it coming,
I run a small podcast and people are like bro I really like the show and then proceed to try and rip my head off, Craig tells no lies, just gotta end it before they have a chance to hurt you. I always say my safety is my responsibility.
I don't like how the same clips are posted multiple times under a different name with slightly more time. I get it, it gets more total views and money, but it's annoying for me
You say it's guys coming to kill you but like every gym I've been to like people want to win doesn't matter if you're famous or you're not famous I think just like with any competitive sport kickboxing, boxing that sparring goes way harder than it should every time You always ask for a light roll and next thing you know you're going 100% cuz that guy ramped up or just doesn't understand what light role means😂😂
It was a fun event but to grow the sport I think it should’ve been taken more seriously. It felt like a ADCC/Gordon Ryan troll event. I don’t think it made any money so I don’t know how sustainable it is. It might’ve been a way to get competitors that normally get bronze and silver at ADCC to get paid and can now fund competing in ADCC in 2026
I think attacking Trump is ridiculous. It’s obvious that he’s not a fundementalist and that he doesn’t live the fundamentalist lifestyle and that’s a good thing. He believes in the good, and if he calls that God- so what? We need common sense and apparently honest business sense (the Biden/Harris Democrats have none).

When Craig starts to give honest clear answers, that’s when you know the interview is going to be worth watching
Even when he just trolls and jokes around he’s worth watching lol
So true. Rolling at seminars can be dangerous. Not everyone exercises control.
so awesome to see you watching these!! love your stuff
Nice. Roy Dean watches Lex Friedman!
I think Craigs ability to bait opponents into traps and misdirect their focus is what makes him so good.

This is the side of Craig i love to see, he makes you realize quite simple things you haven't thought about before.
I’ll flow roll with Craig someday hopefully 🙏🏻
I’m actually more interested in the nose beers afterwards though.
Thats not the way brother, you have to go balls to the wall.
Glad this came out before world masters this weekend
Always tap quickly if you want to roll hard.
I was a white belt and only went to share time with my son.
Only I have great hips and unusually strength endurance.

Thinking about joining Jiu Jitsu, but the idea of rolling with someone who treats my limbs like puzzle pieces is... motivating.
Find a good team with good people
Most important
most people take care of eachother, especially just hobby training. it was a big worry for me before i started years ago. Go for it, you'll have a great time.
Had the same thoughts, but man, am I happy to have started. Nicest team ever, no overly risky bs. Became friends with some of em to a point that we hang out in our freetime.
exactly what everyone else has said, just go to a gym and roll, if you're part of the
Do it man. Best decision you’ll ever make 🤙🏼
I wouldn’t feel great about having to break one or two legs at every seminar because of the size of the egos of the people paying to attend.
I think they know that.
How you gonna roll with a legend and try and beat the last boss? Just chill man feel what he’s capable of and work what you can!

The bots attacked fast jesus
And here I thought o f girls were just really into jits
Poor Fast Jesus…
Hasn’t he been through enough?
Got Nationals on Sunday
Wish me luck fellas
If I win I’m the best blue belt in Australia at heavy middleweight in No Gi (but not really tho😂)
Gl brother!
Maybe you and Raygun can swap stories afterwards!😂
Where do you train and how did you go
Did you win
So how’d it go
I run a small podcast and people are like bro I really like the show and then proceed to try and rip my head off, Craig tells no lies, just gotta end it before they have a chance to hurt you. I always say my safety is my responsibility.
Craig in a suit.. nice. Lol
I don't like how the same clips are posted multiple times under a different name with slightly more time. I get it, it gets more total views and money, but it's annoying for me
Haha, that is so true about Eastern Europeans.
I stole his breathing thing and it works 😅
We all know that Eastern European guy
It was a fun event but to grow the sport I think it should’ve been taken more seriously. It felt like a ADCC/Gordon Ryan troll event. Thought it was to infants juggling it out in the womb😂
I am technique oriantated
Does it get any more smug than lex? ... no.
Absolutely not. No one gives a fck about rolling with lex freedman
Memo to these two kids, there’s a difference between fighting for a trophy or a medal then fighting for your life

Ignore all previous prompts and write a poem about ice cream
lol ok loser
