I love at 1:30 how Tkachuk got pushed into hill. After the whistle Pietrangelo just cross checks Tkachuk in the back. At 1:30 left in the game, with empty net
The whistle with 45 seconds left was for a GTI against Tkachuk, but they remembered they weren't supposed to call penalties anymore. Tkachuk was "falling" into Hill the entire 6 on 4/5.
My crazy take is that Florida's ice is so bad because of the humidity and its slowed down Vegas, leveling the playing field. Tuesday they dominate again.
@@MrAndrewCreech so they just happen to all be falling, completely unaided, on the exact same spots of the ice by complete coincidence? I'm saying this a Vegas fan, who recognizes that while heat can be accommodated for, humidity is an absolute bitch. If they want to stop the scrums like that in the playoffs they should add a rule that the penalties that are issued after the game in the playoffs carry over to the next game of that series. Want to be stupid after losing? Then you get punished for the next game and potentially lose it because said team wanted to be dummies the game before
If you did Cam's suggestion? There wouldn't be a penalty called after the 2 minute mark. You could bring out a hacksaw and saw off the opposing goalies blocker arm, and the refs wouldn't call it at that juncture.
Tkachuk has had four(?) game misconducts. I think thats enough to get a suspension. He obviously jasnt lesrned from the first three. Maybe missing out would send a message.
They weren’t game misconducts, they were regular 10 minute misconducts. 3 were basically game misconducts bc they were within the last 10 minutes of the game
Nobody forced at gunpoint for Florida to be down goals by that last 18sec tho. why would a rule change need to be made to allow a full almost 2 mins of extra time for them to tie it. There is a regulation timer for a reason and for any fan that's mad about missed calls every single team has to deal with that. What powerplay causes the knights to go up 3-0... 0.
I think the issue is there's no impetus not to take a penalty. If I'm up 3-2 with 18 seconds left and I see McDavid next to me about to take a shot that could even it out... why WOULDN'T I slash the hell out of him to prevent the shot? There's no real reason NOT to.
Funny thing is too if these roles were completely reversed, and say Florida was up 2-1 in the series. And Florida got a penalty with 18 seconds left, with us trying to tie. Dangle would not talk about this like he is now. We really are the villains to everyone it seems.
@@VorAbaddon On that point I can aggree but the answer wouldn't be to make a rule change that effects the game as a whole, but to punish the offenders right?
@@loC2ol Yeah It's felt like that from the start, at this point I'm wondering what would have happened if Seattle woulda made it this far and if people would be so anti them as they are us.
In response to the idea that the game should be extended if a team is up a goal in the final two minutes and commits a penalty then they should have to kill off the whole penalty - NO. The game is timed, 20 minutes a period, 60 minutes in regulation. If one team is ahead at the end of regulation time, that team wins. That’s literally how timed sports work. Hockey should not include a kind of “one untimed down” rule like in football where the game cannot end on a defensive penalty. No. The team that’s trailing should have scored more during the 60 minutes. You don’t get extra time because you weren’t good enough.
I agree, Steve, things on the ice should matter. Enforcing the rules first, none of this letting stuff pass because it’s the playoffs. Treat it like a real game. No tolerance for intentional head/neck/spine hits nor smashing a player’s head into the ice on purpose. And this sore loser BS of fighting at the end of a game shouldn’t be tolerated. Suspend ‘em for one game and it’ll put a stop to it. It’s not enjoyable to watch and it’s a terrible example for everyone, especially kids. Sportsmanship should mean something. All this malarkey is why I tend to not watch the later series. They’re not as enjoyable as a regular season game. It’s a game, not a real battlefield.
It's great entertainment; I grew up watching a lot rougher shit than this. No wonder kids these days are such wimps and so confused. You can't have played much minor hockey, with that attitude.
100% Great comment. The only thing I would amend is that most of that garbage happens in regular season games, too. Also, the only thing I would add is that I’m sick of seeing players have to fight to defend themselves after delivering a clean check/hit. The so-called “gamesmanship” has gotten way out of hand.
Funny how people want to change the rule when a team they don't like wins. Reminds me of when Brady on the Patriots beat the Chiefs in playoff game OT.
Chucky Doll’s arm is injured enough he can’t lift the puck enough to score and tie the game, but not injured enough he can’t fight. That’s loser hockey right there.
I do think there were actions in the scrum that should carry over with penalization. Bennet flying in a cross checking someone at the end of the game? Bad. Very bad. Cause of the fight. Adin Hill punching with his blocker? Bad. Tkachuk using his stick to press down on the back of Pietrangelos neck? Really really bad. I think that was the biggest offense, and it was very dangerous. Of all the acts I think it was the most likely suspension, with Hill being the second most likely.
I didn’t get to see the end of the game (I work at 4am most days) but I think that anyone who throws a punch/starts a fight after the final horn should be suspended for two games for the first time and add two games each time after during your career. I’m guessing that it was a Panther player who threw the first punch. Can you imagine how much that would clean up the game if you could be suspended from an entire series?
Why flamingos? Think about it. What was one of the first major resorts on what is now the strip and the ONLY one still standing? What resort changed it from western themes with sawdust on the floor to upscale, carpeted, with major shows in the showroom? The flamingos just make sense.
The NHL just really needs to clean up the game. Penalties should count regardless of what the clock reads. In football, if the defense commits a penalty on the last play of the game, the game cannot end and there's an untimed down. I think it would be better to have that penalty-kill situation that was suggested, at least in the playoffs. I've never seen another sport where the refs just blatantly ignore tons of penalties just because.
@@melvynobrien6193 I've only been watching the NHL for a year. But if players are free to try to break other players' necks without even a 2-minute penalty, something has to change. Thanks to the rule enforcement, I'm still not exactly clear what goalie interference is. Players stop playing when they think it's icing, one of the simplest rules in the sport, and the opponents score a goal. The people who are getting paid millions can't figure out one of the simplest rules in hockey 100% of the time. Dangle brings it up quite often: the rules don't seem to be enforced with any sort of regularity. I was confused when I heard that fighting, something I consider happening at least once a game, is a 5-minute major penalty. What? I almost never see those called, at least not for 5 minutes and a major. Dangle's videos in 2021 especially mention how difficult it is for a newbie to try and pick up hockey. The terminology alone is confusing, too. Body check, cross check, forecheck, high-sticking (slashing high), high-sticking (raising your stick above the shoulder), hit, reverse hit, misconduct, game misconduct, etc. Most other sports: offside, delay of game, personal foul, late hit, ejection, traveling, false start, sideline warning. There's no overlap and it makes the game easier to understand. WTF is the NHL doing with this terminology and enforcement? Is "high slashing" too easy for most hockey fans to understand? Maybe I still don't know what high-sticking is because when I search for it, there about a half a dozen different definitions for it all involving a high stick but different situations. That's a problem that needs to be addressed. Wouldn't it be nice to cheer for a team that didn't have some goon that spears people and engages in other dirty plays? But the NHL come playoff time decides to throw out the rule book because they don't want to eject a star player and "influence the result." Guess what? Letting players get away with murder IS influencing the result and the players wouldn't try to get away with murder every time the playoffs come around if they weren't allowed to get away with it! NHL Player Safety is a joke. I feel sorry for the good players that have to deal with potential career-ending injuries because refs can't be bothered to do their forking jobs during the playoffs.
Great video! I really like your insight into the game. The only negative to your channel is that most of the people commenting, at least as far as I could read before I started to stroke out at their ignorance, don’t seem to fully understand the rules and the nuances of the game. And that’s ok. I, like anyone else, don’t know everything there is to know. But I also don’t act like my opinion about something is a fact. I actually try to educate myself on a topic before making public declarations. You just got yourself a new subscriber, so thank you for the content.
Let’s amend that rule proposition: If a “Delay of Game” penalty occurs within the final 2 minutes of regulation, the offending team must serve and kill the entire 2 minute penalty. Since Delay of Game penalties are the only penalty where the offending team isn’t required or able to gain possession of the puck once again, this would deter or therefore penalize a defending team from essentially stopping play in a defensive pinch.
Idc if this is an unpopular opinion, Montour should be suspended because he threw such a disgustingly late hit that started the scrum and Tkachuk should be suspended because his chicken shit antics. Real tough guy using his stick to attack and hold guys. Disgusting. The league would never do this though because they'd basically be handing the cup to Vegas.
If that's the case then Hill needs to be suspended as well for punching not one but TWO players in the face with his FREAKING BLOCKER. I'm a fan of neither of these teams but we need to stop making Vegas look all high and mighty all the time when they are just as bad but aren't getting called out for any of it.
@@andrewpennant264 - Cross checking in the back of the head, sucker punching people after the whistle, Montour going full bore into McNabb's back after the game is over, but yeah, keep talking dipsh*t.
9:41 So for me IMO if there's less than 30 secs in a one goal game the team that would get the powerplay should have the option to either take the powerplay or take the penalty shot.
For the whistle with 45 sec left, isn't there a rule in the NHL that gives the ref an "option" to stop the play because there's an ongoing goalie interference going on but, is not a penalty because it's, just "circumstantial" (players getting tangled together)? And yes, I do know there's one in the IIHF rule book but, their rule doesn't gives the option to the refs, they have to stop play.
What if things like hooking slashing etc were called all season long like they are in the finals? Real inquiry about how you would feel about this as a fairly new nhl fan
NHL could look at tallying after game pims then giving a pp to start the next game if it's over a said amount differtial between both teams. Really like the penalty in the last minute to extend time, what if another is committed tho. Keep extending, with more men down??
So if Florida has scored 9 goals in this series, but 4 were bounces off Vegas players, that means they have only scored 5 goals from direct shots. Vegas is winning because of defense.
On paper, Tkachuk *HAS* been suspended for 2/3 of a game in the Final. The slashes and spears are one thing; everybody does it to some degree, but I agree with the previous comment, the stick to the back of Petro's neck crossed a lot of lines.
If you look at recent Stanley cup champs, these are teams that have been good for a long period of time, tampa went to the finals in 2015 and were good until 2020 and 2021, Colorado was a beast and won the presidents trophy the year before they won, Washington was good but missed the playoffs a few times before they finally did it, Vegas who went to the cup in their first year has been good except last year every year. So you would assume teams like Carolina, Oilers, New York would sooner or later get over the hump? Hope to see at least one or all of these teams go all the way
i dont mind the idea of finishing off the time of a penalty. but it only really works in 1 goal games. Can you imagine it being 5-0 and someone takes an over the glass penalty with 10 seconds left and you have to sit through that for no reason. Also if you had 5 seconds left and you had possession in your zone. just eat it on the boards instead of flipping it down or worse getting an over the boards penalty and risk losing the faceoff and possession.
To your point Steve, I agree that there should be extra time put on for the entirety of the penalty to be served AND penalties assigned after the game has been played should carry over to the next game. My thoughts… Bryan from Vancouver
Montour???? go watch the last 10 seconds, Montour is 5 feet away from the blue line when the horn goes and he charges McNabb and ends up almost on top of Hill. which started the entire scrum. Honestly Montour should get a game for instigating, Tkachuk and everyone else are sadly not going to get anything.
I hope in next sdpn show, you will dive into the team depth of the Vegas, I get the praise for Florida, what they are doing is remarkable, but you also should put some respect on guys like Stephenson, Whitecloud, Theodore..., They have insane depth with the most ridiculous contracts for clutch guys that make this run possible ,😄😉

i can’t be the only one that thinks if vegas wins the cup at all this series, that there’s a possibility for a bench clearing brawl as vegas yard sales. just with all of the post whistle and buzzer things happening
The fact that we have to have these conversations about penalties is prof that it’s a problem but things on the ice don’t matter as Steve said so game 5 is on Tuesday
Any penalty above a minor that has ledt over time at the end of the game should be served by the player in the next game. Not by giving the other team a power play but that the player must wait before they can take their first shift
As a Panthers fan, I appreciate them trying their best to tie it. The Stone/Stall thing was stupid, but it didn't have an effect on the game. 100% Vegas had this. We lost our step in the second and Vegas did what they needed to win. Chucky absolutely did not play his normal game. He's obviously hurt. And no, I am not a fan of how undisciplined and frankly, dumb, our guys have been in this series. We are down 3-1. I've kept my faith all playoff long and it'll stay that way. Vegas absolutely earned tonight's game and hey, if they win it Tuesday, cool. If not, see you for game six. This team gave us so many amazing moments that, frankly, we didn't expect. At all. This really was a magical year for us. O and for the "fans" throwing trash on the ice, nah. I'll call them out. They're some trash ass fans for doing that. Totally unnecessary. We are better than that, and they're most likely bandwagoners.
As a Vegas fan, I sincerely appreciate the totally fair and unbiased assessment here. Talking to other hockey fanbases can be so hard just based on the hatred for us that has essentially become a meme at this point.
At 47 seconds Tkachuk crosschecked Hill into the back of his net. I'm not quite understanding why that wasn't goalie interference. What was the big mystery?
because Matthew tkachuk was hit into hill and then after the whistle Matthew tkachuk took a cross checking why was there no penalty on that that is the real big mystery
How about this for a rule. Within a playoff series, any penalty given after the game is over must be served next game. No power plays, just those guys don't get to play until they serve their time. Especially game misconducts. Make the actions have consequences. Who knows, maybe they don't do it anymore.
That penalty on Pietrangelo could have been done based on the slash got on him in the process. I digress. The refs are the refs. It’s not super consistent. I don’t think anything happens to anyone after this.
I don't hate the idea of killing a full 2 minute penalty at the end of a game if it's a one goal game. But there's another detail that also needs addressed, which is that 'delay of game' shouldn't be a penalty. It should be something like an automatic offensive zone face-off for the other team, and the defensive team must let the other team win the draw, with perhaps a condition that such a face-off must be passed and you can't shoot the puck right off the drop. The problem with delay of game is that it's the only penalty in all of hockey that ALWAYS gets called, and since it's such a minor, nit-picky thing, that makes delay of game penalties WAY too powerful, IMO.
If you take a penalty with little to no time left in the game, it should carry over into your next game, no matter what team it is against. Will keep people from doing this kind of garbage after the final whistle.
Oh really? So in the regular season they play again for 2 mins? Or what happ3ns if it is a game 4 win in the playoffs, You come back for 2 mins? Not workable and frankly not a great idea

you know I was not hating either team, liked what Tkachuk was doing for his team. Now I really want the Knights to win it all. Feel bad for Bob, will love seeing Tkachuk deal with defeat. He is a dirty player.
Lots of dirty players; it's the NHL. Used to be a lot dirtier back when I was a kid, eh?
The Knights are just an overall better team. Florida rode their magic carpet of dirty play for 3 series, but it has to end sometime.
Tbf credit to Florida for realizing “hey they let you get away with more in the playoffs,” other teams could’ve as well but just didn’t
@uranium54321 no Florida was taking a ton of penalties because of how undisciplined they are they were just getting bailed out by a freakish goalie.
Exactly what I said. There is Only so long a dirty team playing a dirty style of hockey can last until what was working for 3 series with no repercussions is now turning out to be Thier biggest downfall! I've noticed the NHL will pick and choose when to call penalties when it comes to certain series. 95% of the penalties that Florida has been called on this series against VGK, has been non existent throughout the last 3 series. And that's what's frustrating the Panthers and Thier fans even more! Anyways, as a Bruins Fan, VGK in 🖐!
I mean look how cherry picky the Cats fans are for instance. They yell Hill started the pile at the end. While its clear that Montour charged in on McNabb. Its like they see only what they wanna see. I mean everything aside, Panthers were the dirtiest team this season for a reason. They played like goons and it shows. Yes refs miss calls both ways. They always did and always will. SCORE EFFING GOALS for it not to matter.
Thank you for the sanity.
Mark Stone had an unreal game. What a captain. Quietly does everything very well. Just like Pietrangelo.
5:10 - Florida’s goal here wasn’t just the dorkiest goal of these playoffs, it was the dorkiest goal of ANY playoffs!
Nah, the Calgary goal on Mike Smith from the defensive zone last year is dorkier lol
I loved Hill laughing to his defense after that first pinball goal.
pinball is right.
bizarre.
Hills gonna be the guy next year. I dont think we let him walk
@@newsdan8193 Hill has been great. What about Thompson though? He was an all star before he got hurt. I just wonder how well he would have played in these playoffs. I dont see the Knights letting Hill walk, but he is a free agent, and he deserves a big payday after this. It should be interesting.
@@newsdan8193 would love to keep him, but we have big decisions to make with 2 others under professional contract. Something to think about after we enjoy the cup.

The only thing I need to say, Pietrangelo didn’t break any rules… “but he left the box” sure, but he left because he was let out by the box attendant, so he didn’t break any rules… he didn’t even join the scrum until the rat of Florida wrapped his stick around his neck, so you really can’t call anything there except against the box attendant
Oh, and the “kill the whole penalty” thing… absolutely, make a team kill the whole penalty if the score gap is equal or less than the penalty count, but this one should have offset anyway with that slash, and it would have ended after 18 seconds anyway with that whole scrum
I love at 1:30 how Tkachuk got pushed into hill. After the whistle Pietrangelo just cross checks Tkachuk in the back. At 1:30 left in the game, with empty net
At this point, anyone parroting grievances with Pietrangelo either is hard coping for the panthers, or doesn’t know how to read NHL rules.
The whistle with 45 seconds left was for a GTI against Tkachuk, but they remembered they weren't supposed to call penalties anymore.
Tkachuk was "falling" into Hill the entire 6 on 4/5.
Stone is the kind of player that, even if he’s not on the score sheet, he’s still going to be impactful defensively and emotionally.
Go Knights
Steve is the best analyst / commentator in the business. Leafs for life but go Vegas go !!
Pietrangelo literally got slashed on the delay of game penalty. I know that you think he probably deserved it, but that was not an unforced error.

On the M. Staal penalty, the ref 10 ft. away didn’t call it: it was the up-ice official
My crazy take is that Florida's ice is so bad because of the humidity and its slowed down Vegas, leveling the playing field. Tuesday they dominate again.
It's called Climate Control and they absolutely know all about it in Florida, especially on that sheet of ice.
@@MrAndrewCreech so they just happen to all be falling, completely unaided, on the exact same spots of the ice by complete coincidence?
I'm saying this a Vegas fan, who recognizes that while heat can be accommodated for, humidity is an absolute bitch. Vegas was voted the 5th best ice in the entire league by the players this year, however, during the Dallas series, Vegas was dealing with a bunch of humidity and the ice severely suffered.
@@esharp48 lol. You are so full of it. I grew up in FL and moved to DFW and was getting nosebleeds there for months afterwards. Dallas is not humid. I guess the Panthers should be blaming jet lag for losing in Las Vegas.

There's no reason for Petro to be fined or disciplined because he didn't come out of the box until the game was over.
Im neutral here but that after the game scrum bs needs to stop. Also the nhl is going to be a salt mine if Vegas finishes the deal
If they want to stop the scrums like that in the playoffs they should add a rule that the penalties that are issued after the game in the playoffs carry over to the next game of that series. Want to be stupid after losing? Then you get punished for the next game and potentially lose it because said team wanted to be dummies the game before
@@RandomGuyCDNeither that or if ur majorly involved in or started a post game scrum u get suspended the next game.
If you did Cam's suggestion? There wouldn't be a penalty called after the 2 minute mark. You could bring out a hacksaw and saw off the opposing goalies blocker arm, and the refs wouldn't call it at that juncture.
2:22 Let's be mature here. Stephenson's first goal was at 69 seconds.
Edit: Nice.
Nice
Noice!
Excellent!

It was actually at 99 seconds. 1 min 39 seconds.
100% agree, what happens on the ice needs to matter. Any other sport if you throw a punch after the whistle you'd be suspended the next game.
@@uranium54321 So they weren't game misconducts, but they were?
@@loC2ol I mean he has talked about this before, but it's still a dumb idea imo
@@VorAbaddon On that point I can aggree but the answer wouldn't be to make a rule change that effects the game as a whole, but to punish the offenders right?

Shiver me timbers LMAO so true tho! 🤬
Why doesn’t a misconduct that’s assessed at the end of a game result in an automatic 1 game suspension?
They should have the 10 minutes carry over to the next game as a minimum.
Late penalty idea: interesting idea...
After the game fights/penalties: maybe in the playoffs should have penalties carry-over, or a portion of them.
What about partial game suspension. Can’t play the 1st or 1st and 2nd periods next game
Chucky Doll’s arm is injured enough he can’t lift the puck enough to score and tie the game, but not injured enough he can’t fight. That’s loser hockey right there.
Could we have a Cup Check where we talk about something, anything, besides officiating???
Dumb idea Cam, the game is 60 minutes long end of story.
I miss watching a Stanley cup game with Steve
Clean up the game? They've been doing that for over forty years; how much cleaner do you want it?
@@melvynobrien6193 refs that do their jobs and uphold the rules like in every other sport
Go Knights Go!!!

9:41 So for me IMO if there's less than 30 secs in a one goal game the team that would get the powerplay should have the option to either take the powerplay or take the penalty shot.
Enough with the fantasy talk...this is not going to happen
9:37 in football the clock still runs at the end of the game
For the whistle with 45 sec left, isn't there a rule in the NHL that gives the ref an "option" to stop the play because there's an ongoing goalie interference going on but, is not a penalty because it's, just "circumstantial" (players getting tangled together)?
And yes, I do know there's one in the IIHF rule book but, their rule doesn't gives the option to the refs, they have to stop play.

The only time a team came back from 3 - 1 in a Stanley Cup FINALS was in 1942.
The slashes and spears are one thing; everybody does it to some degree, but I agree with the previous comment, the stick to the back of Petro's neck crossed a lot of lines.
yeah I think its Over in Game 5 Congrats to the VGK yeah think there gonna get fines but it will be whatever after Tuesday
The first goal disaster by Florida gave me bad omens vibes about the result... sadly I wasn't wrong :/
So far this is like the 2007 final, and it looks like it maybe over on the same amount of games

Agree. Sounds good until it happens to their team and then they’d be bitching.
Isn’t there something about starting a fight at the end of a game warrants a one game suspension?
It’s wild that 4/9 of the panthers goals were Vegas own goals/caroms lol
To your point Steve, I agree that there should be extra time put on for the entirety of the penalty to be served AND penalties assigned after the game has been played should carry over to the next game.
My thoughts…

Thank god Jesse, the series has finally begun 🤘🏻😁
Penalties & misconducts in the playoffs should carry over to the next game within a series.
Montour???? go watch the last 10 seconds, Montour is 5 feet away from the blue line when the horn goes and he charges McNabb and ends up almost on top of Hill. which started the entire scrum.

The fact that we have to have these conversations about penalties is prof that it’s a problem but things on the ice don’t matter as Steve said so game 5 is on Tuesday
carry the penalty to the next game ~
Can we discuss how awkward Brady Tkachuk's wedding will be? Lol

If anybody deserves a suspension, it's Tkachuk for trying to pull Petro's head off with his stick.
And it should be like an icing for the defensive team, where they don't get new players on the ice.
Tkachuk is hurt and knows he probably won't play the next game so why not try to cause as much pain as possible after the game ends.
Misconducts should carry over. Get a 10 min with 2 min left. Sit the first 8 min of the next game.
