Oh Mark, it's stunning! I knew that fabric would make a wonderful kaleidoscope quilt. Your keen eye, imagination and fearless nature have created a masterpiece. This is a Quilt Show quality piece! Seriously consider entering it before giving it away. Tracey and Bill could get a lot of ideas for their cards and art ideas from this quilt as well. Those kaleidoscopes look like they're spinning, and others look like they're radiating outward, then inward. Great use of that unending imagination Mark ❤️😄
It really is looking wonderful Mark ... just a tip.... look at a photo upside down. it tricks your mind and you can instantly see any areas that dont quite gel. I love catching your videos! Thank you X
Dogs love to quilt too. Its the thumb problem again.... They have definite opinions on arranging the hexies, and aren't shy to let you know. We love Carmelo )))) The quilt is like a butterfly migration~ WOW. )))
Beautiful fabric selection for a hexagon kaleidoscope quilt! I heard a hint to take a black and white picture of the fabric to be able to see the tones.
Mark, Mark your choice of fabric makes your quilt a masterpiece. I love your breaking pattern idea and your wife’s suggestion. I also love your breaking pattern fabric, very keen eye to color.
It's lovely and your tip about looking at it through a phone is a good one but even better to get the light/dark contrast is to look at it in black and white too to see shadings and values of pieces...will help with placement!
If you squint your eyes you will be able to separate the darks from the lights. This is something I learned from the late artist Jack Richard of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
Mark it’s a hexagon & half hexis are 1/2.six whole block makes eight different formations. I made one be at Christmas using poinsettias. Very interesting indeed. I used 24 inches first, then cut 4 “ strips x6. BC of the math & my 60 degree ruler
Omg this is so beautiful 🤩. You are an excellent teacher, very inspiring! I have always wanted to make a kaleidoscope quilt but haven’t been truly confident with the process. I’ve only been quilting three years now but I think it’s time I take on this project. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your ideas and expertise ❤❤
It’s called ‘Butterfly Magic’ by Timeless Treasures. Missouri Star Quilt Co. is where I bought mine over the weekend. It hasn’t shipped yet but was much cheaper than Amazon.
I have design wall envy.
You should enter a quilt show with this quilt. It's so beautiful. Carmelo is also beautiful. Thank you.
A hexagon is a six sided polygon, so you’re right either way😉

🤩
Mark this is beautiful but I have a dumb question...
How are those pieces staying in place vertically?
Mark, it's beautiful! Where did you get the blue at the top (how did you select it) and can I assume those are hexagons too (just all blue)?
Should I press my seams open Mark?
Mark, do you love your Panasonic iron for ironing piecing?
I cannot find the video you refer to about how to cut fabric for this block. Can you post a link?
Carmelo has her opinion as well...
What was the name of the butterfly fabric called??? Its beautiful.
