I had a similar battle once where my defensive Clefable pretty much solo'd the opponent's team. A team that had a Xerneas on it. A Xerneas that knew Cut.
Voch 123 Seems likely but I think by the time you get xerneas you don’t actually need cut for the rest of the game... In fact, side note, I’m not sure there are any areas in which cut is required to progress in the whole game, just small extra areas

I almost killed his lvl 100 mewtwo with my lvl 68 mimikyu, but he steal beat me (mimikyu was the higher level). When I rechallanged the "poor" kid with Lvl 50 rule, he accepted without a second of hesitation. I think this time he was the one who didn't read the rules. He was annihilated by my toxapex

I was about 14-15 when I played X/Y, just used pokemon I liked on my team, they were pretty weak and had trash movesets (so pretty much no strategy lol). I battled a lot of people online and lost a lot too, no surprise there, haha. Had a lot of fun anyway just using my favorite mons, and when I won a battle, it was a special moment (pretty sure I had a couple dozen wins as opposed to my several hundred losses). Seeing other people who have no idea what they're doing in competitive battles is nice, makes me feel less alone lmao
It is a good idea to go online! Then you get to meet new friends to trade Pokemon with or battle to test out your strength. Just because someone's not a great competitive battler doesn't mean that they should never be allowed online. Granted, they probably did need more practice, but maybe this is the fight that'll make them reconsider and think harder about their team and move sets.

sandslashy same but for me it was sapphire, by the elite four (lost the game a week after i got to that point so i never beat it until the remakes if you count that) i had like 3 pokemon of the same type, one of my final pokemon was a linoone mostly for hm's, and only like 2 were above lvl 40, died to mostly every trainer so i avoided all i could... i was just awful i spent like 3 weeks on wattson.

Sometimes pokémon typings aren't obvious and I'd say "he might not know it's a bug", but just looking at Scyther I'd guess the correct bug/flying typing. For Scizor on the other hand I would not guess it's bug/steel typing based on looks though.

If you're going to play online, in general you'll want to win, right? It's not the same as games like Smash Bros, where you can play to have fun or play to win. While obviously, you want to have fun, you'll generally want to win more in a "Casual" Pokemon battle than a Casual Smash Bros Battle.

Reminds me of how once I finished a battle against a 6-legendary party with Yveltal, Mewtwo, Latias and primal Kyogre-Groudon and Mega Rayquaza, with a Golduck finishing both Rayquaza and Groudon off with a Surf.

If you're going to play online, in general you'll want to win, right? It's not the same as games like Smash Bros, where you can play to have fun or play to win. While obviously, you want to have fun, you'll generally want to win more in a "Casual" Pokemon battle than a Casual Smash Bros Battle.

Frisbeans I've never Wifi battled, I'm only just catching up after years out (currently on my 1st playthrough of Diamond), I never played the DS games originally, can you message people? I'd have just spoken to him and tried to help him out and encourage him and you should say good battle to anyone. I thought the Pokémon community was all love and great people.
