Heya Olive, and so the avventura began... not the most typical landscape you'd expect in Tuscany, but then it was also on a fairly high altitude, where Spring is a bit delayed... your struggle to stay on the walks made me smile and remember how difficult it was on the camino to go wrong - almost impossible.
Your lodge looked fabulous... I wonder what you paid per night... the lunch menus looked a bit pricey to me, but not unusual for a resort and off the beaten tracks... we didn't see the people living there, but from what you shared, it must have been a pleasant social environment to be in... a nice and quiet start of your trip...
now off to Roma (where you will be already as we speak)... probably much warmer, and nature is already very lush there, with blossoms everywhere... wishing you (and your partner) good times in the capital (once of most of Europe), and may you have warm & friendly encounters with the natives there... the food will have to be outstanding...

You’re absolutely right about the Camino... getting lost was almost impossible! 😄 The lodge in Tuscany was indeed on the pricey side, at around 500 euros per night. I’m fortunate because my partner works with luxury hotels and resorts, and sometimes we get to stay in these amazing places as part of his job.
