Unfortunate that one of the only full playthroughs of this game on youtube is done incorrectly the whole way through. You need to press up just before putting down the brush onto the part where the phrase starts to make the letters just perfect, but if you hold the brush up for too long you'll get letters that are too dark and it wastes ink. You can see in the video the player doesn't understand this and all the letters are light and incomplete looking. Gotta learn some Japanese to read that tutorial!
You are correct, I do not speak Japanese. This series is about seeing if a game is import friendly to the average westerner, this one is definitely not. In my review I talk about this as well, go check that out as proof. I take issue with other mechanics as well. And as with every comment that takes issue with my gameplay, I invite you to post something better.

It's just my opinion but out of all the NanaOnsha games I got interested in (which are the Parappa and Vib Ribbon series) this game has the blandest and most forgettable soundtrack. I have never played it so I can't really judge on gameplay, but I am sorry to the people who like the ost, but I found it so boring that I almost feel asleep. The robotic voice is getting more and more irritating and the instrumental is getting more and more unimaginative. It's not bad by any means, but this comes from the guys who created "Kick! Punch! It's all in the mind" and Vib Ribbon's tutorial song which in my opinion is infinitely catchier than the entire Mojib Ribbon ost. I was gonna say that I liked the artstyle of it, but overtime it also gets more bland to look at. Again, I am not saying the game is bad and if you wanna try it - go ahead. Hell, I will also try it. These are just my first impressions and sorry if I came off as too harsh
