Oh wow, that was fast! :D Bummed I couldn't keep the batteries warm enough for longer, but the opening shot was worth bringing it for sure. Thank's for the support!
I'm not an experienced winter camper...was wondering if people keep boots in the sleeping bag with them. Maybe not enough room in a mummy bag? BTW, Awesome line..." never stop learning, never stop failing"...said w/a smile on your face. Kudos to you👍
That's exactly right, it's quite common! You just need a longer bag, so that you can keep them in a small plastic bag by your feet. I don't have room in mine, but if I did I would only do it if I was sure I was gonna be plenty warm in the bag. Extra space to heat, and two big frozen lumps to bring the temperature down. In the future I'll make sure to treat the leather with water repellent so it doesn't absorb it, I think that will help. If it doesn't, I'll just have to go back to my all-leather boots. And thanks:) Gotta keep reminding me that failing is good; I am still a rookie after all!
@@Giskeoutdoors I've seen somewhere but didnt try it yet that you can put a Nalgene with boiling water in each boots before going to bed to prevent freezing boots 🤔 , definitly will try it this winter.
@@bonpecheur4565 @Bon Pecheur ah yes, I have had the same thought! I know polar explorers use plastic bags outside their socks to keep the sweat from touching the boots, that's an option too.
@@Giskeoutdoors yes I've tried that a few times but the cheap plastic seem to wear before I get to camp . And plastic bags are getting rare these days ...
Well well Mr I cant find my gaz stove , you where lucky enough to find a few branches for your fire and still manage to burn yourself a couple of time with your bottle and fork 😅 . I would like to try sleeping in a bivy one day so I dont have to bring a tent . Is there a lot of condensation inside ? And you dont sleep with a hat ? I always wear one for sleeping . The scenery was incredible in the morning , it was nice to see you walking in that fluffy snow. Here in Québec we just got out of a cold system where we had -30 for a few days . Still looking forward for my first trip in the snow this year but we have only 15-20 cm on the ground right now wich is a lot under the normal , strange winter ... Glad to see you back in nature on TH-cam
Hahaha, first thing I did after getting home was organising all my gear, so the burner is definitely coming with me next time! Can't make a winter video without burning my fingers😅. The bivvy is great, I get very little condensation, I think it is because it only closes with velcro strips, so it's very well ventilated. Slept with a hat at first, but got so claustrophobic I ended up taking it off again, that's why my hair was so flat haha! Very strange winter indeed, here it seems to switch between cold and snow, and warm and stormy. Right now it's raining sideways😅. I have yet to finish editing my 5 day trip from early december, so that'll be out soon, and then I intend to keep up with two trips per month going forward :) Thank you for your continued support :)
Hey Sylvain! I'm very much alright, just been off the youtube game for a while. Several videos ready to be edited, just haven't found the motivation to finish them. I have another trip planned for this weekend, really looking forward to it. Hope everything is going well with you.
@@Giskeoutdoors Glad everything is fine with you . All is good on my side too , thanks . I'm just back from a 4 day canoe trip . I was happy to see your message. I wish you a nice trip next week-end !
Great to see you back out again Jon👍What a Winter wonderland you have there, amazing scenery, keep it up👍👍
Thank you Anthony, looking forward to all the rust being knocked off😅 It's gorgeous here, just hoping the snow will return again soon!
