this is the video that got me into kayak fishing 6 years ago couldn’t imagine my life without the people i have met and adventures i’ve been on since then
The manatee reminds me of when i was little and i would follow my mom around the shopping center and after a few minutes realize thats not her and that i've become lost following some other lady.
Your videos are very educational. As a beginner at saltwater fishing I have learned the most from you. I like your cool laid back style rather than a lot of the heavy metal, screaming guitar, high tech power boat videos with the Alright!....High Fivers!! Please keep turning out the videos, and continue sharing your experience and passion doing what you love cause we're out there with you!
I've never seen this type of fishing done before, and it appears to be extremely amusing. I found the best parts of this video to be the sheer enjoyment of the act, the excitement of the matinee and shark combined and the reaction from being in "unknown territory" with these large animals. I also greatly enjoyed the end, where he shares a critical lesson in fishing (which in my mind is an extension of hunting via. many ways to perform the action) that patience is important, but so is properly preparing yourself mentally for the task at hand and how hard it is to be prepared when you've never experienced something like this before. Learning is good, even if mistakes are made, and I'm sure by his reaction he will pass on his newly acquired knowledge with enthusiasm and respect to future fishers. Congratulations on a good hunt, and best wishes for many more. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, I watched some of this guys other videos and subscribed , he is laid back, humble but crazy as (insert expletive here). Kinda person you want to meet and hang out with. He put an outboard motor on a kayak and shows a lot of trade secrets on how things are done in a kayak shop. Mad respect, he thanks his film crew, subscribers , and basically everyone involved in his success. He seems to be genuine. Glad we still have dudes like this out there in the world.
One of the best fishing films I've seen on 'the tube', love the editing & the Jaws references. My Son's pal in N.S.W. Australia paddled out of a little creek near Cabarita NSW & hooked into a VERY big fish that took him out over the reef miles out to sea. There's a story with photo's on an Aussy. kayak fishing magazine or site. Nice film. also take note people, long sleeve shirt & big hat, I've just had two skin cancers removed & that's no fun at all, like they say in Oz. slip slop slap.
Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that the manatee is following him to protect him? you hear about dolphins doing that all the time. Awesome video man
I don't ever subscribe to people's stuff but it did yours! I really love all the camera angles and underwater shots. I really like your choice of music too. Normally people put on acid rock at 500 decibels and ruin the video.
Very nice. I love it. The bait fishing alone looks fun, and then add the shark, the manatee...this reminds me of why I loved kayak fishing in Tampa bay. Always an adventure. It's not the same from a big boat.
first off great skill on the kayak there ! you seem to fish a shark and filmed it all from 3 different or 2 different angles ! plus if you told me before hand that you were fishing a shark from a kayak and when you had fish on the line and told me a manatee was watching/following you the whole time i would never have believed you! wonderful video ! keep up the great work . don't know what you were going to do to unhook the fish/shark anyways i guess the best was that the line broke
Gotta use a wire leader when fishing the sea. Learned that lesson the hard way! Always ended up with cut lines. Even tho I get less bites ( assuming because they can see it ) I also loose wayyyy less fish once they're hooked. Everything in the ocean has treth5.
Cute manatee, though. He was cute and curious. Perhaps not good for your fishing expedition, but manatees are good luck. You get karma points for being kind to a manatee...and my respect forever!
Katherine Uribe i like to see stupid ppl learn from their mistakes, did you see the rt video of the leopard they trapped in the school in india? apparently it got in there and freaked out clawed a couple ppl and they shut it in a small room with a barred window with no glass, they back a vehicle up to the class room door and have three experts out side the window one with a big stick, and one of em decides hes gonna reach his arm through the window to open the door lmfao.... the look on their faces when the leopard latches onto his hand is priceless..... the point is he lost a hand but they learned something very important that day..... much like the guy on the kayak fishing for sharks needs to learn.... i just hope he lives through it or its all for not.... more importanlty we know that like steve irwin his cameras will be rolling and hopefully a legion of idiots across the globe will learn from it
+Mason Poopnuggets My daughter just got back from a trip where see got to pet manatees. I'm so jealous! We'd talked about doing that since she was little. I'm so happy she's making her dreams come true!
Good Bull man, enjoyed the fight, your right correct operation of drag is essential.. Id recommend some seven strand 135lb# plus cable, and nicopress crimps. It takes time man, when they see that boat it seems like they get a second wind.
Marty- maybe a little bigger stronger rod, with maybe a level wind reel, with more drag, longer stronger rod easier on you , more drag on reel tires fish out quicker. I'm really surprised he stayed hooked that long without a wire leader. All the Best, man- love you're videos. P.s. I'm up here in the Outer banks.
Bring that Pro Angler here to the central coast of California. I think we have a couple sharks that will make you shit your pants. We had a 20 footer here a couple of months ago. Took a nice bite out of an outback. We fish the red triangle here who knows you might get a thresher they are good eating.
LOL here are some links gma.yahoo.com/video/dramatic-rescue-kayakers-claim-great-134416713.html centralcoastkayakfishing.com/cckf/index.php?topic=3255.15 This guy is the organizer of Central Coast Kayak Fishing. him and I have had several conversations about Shark Shield he was aginst them now not so much.
Nathan Cross Ummmmm, first, why the harsh language? Second, you make yourself sound like an idiot when you don't do proper research. They are listed as "threatened." Make your own conclusion on what that means. Grow up, child.
Nice action, you'll land the next one ! I just purchased my second Okuma ABF65 with same set up but 80lb mono leader & landed a 9 foot nurse shark on foot off channel 5 bridge Islamorada, Keys. Love these reels!!
Looks like you need to ditch the Flurocarbon, and get some seven strand, sleeves, and a crimping tool. I dont think that your drag had anything to do with the line breaking.... when the shark was running your line was parallel with the shark, i noticed both break offs were almost identical... the shark was in close and the your rod was at a high angle with the line at a steep angle to the sharks mouth. He shook his head and all those sharp teeth cut your line. You need wire marlin wire or seven strand.
I live in Jacksonville FL.and our property backs up to the St. Johns river, we have a pier going out on the river. I was once fishing and a Manatee swan up and just turned on it's back and watched me fish it wasn't over fifteen feet from and stayed like that for about ten minutes!
robert it happened in Cheesequake Creek where I fished many times it is brackish water and I think it was a great white shark look it up it's called the Matawan Maneater
it was the decision to not use wire leader that made him loose the fish not the drag. Idk what poll he had but if you know anything about spinning reelz they only have 25 max lbs of drag and that was 80 lbs leader. nice try
cool vid! great action! lots of life out there, im always amazed to see guys fishing in the raritan bay in kayaks i always thought i was the little guy out there in my 18ft aluminum bass boat ha ha not anymore. BTW love the hat
Damn. I was excited to see what the next step was. Good fight though. I kayak fish for flatheads up her in WV. There'll take you for a good ride, I couldn't imagine a large shark :)
Just subscribed man. Awesome footage.. Your living the dream. Just be careful out there in the kayak. i saw that one of your kayaks has some kind of out riggers. That's tight. That pedal one is pretty sweet also.
+Robert Komarek Vinyl coated cable 2' longer than I expect to catch is my rule. 100-200 pound and a removed barb on a Mustad circle hook. One of my very first hook ups was a massive short fin mako. Probably 15'+ range. Breached and did one quick turn. Had a 3' cable leader and 80# mono. After the spin it was gone. Had 12' of mono that honestly looked like it was sanded with 36 grit paper. First and last mako hook up.
He had no plans on removing that hookup proper! No respect leaving hooks in the mouth can cause them to not feed and such! Just shouldn't be done unless it's an unfortunate case like it snapped while fighting he tightened down that drag to snap it purposely because he had no clue what to do knowing it was to dangerous to deal with that shark up the side of that kayak! Just stupid and unfortunate for that shark
I caught a 28" Bonnethead shark outside of the Little Manatee River last Sunday, using a #1 Kahle hook and live shrimp on a 25# fluorocarbon leader, and I boated it with no problems.
First of all he was hunting Tarpon, second of all who do you think you are questioning him with his experience, and third of all people do if all thhe time.
Awesome!!! I hope to make a trip down to your area soon, rent some yacks, catch some fish and drink some beers! This is a great video, you have come a long way. Congratulations
Great video! Curious as to why the water looks so beautiful but when you get down into it, it's merky and has no visibility? It's still beautiful, just not clear...
That's some pretty cool stuff there buddy. I can only imagine hooking something that big in my kayak. I'm taking it to NC soon so who knows. You make some great vids brother..
Caught a black tip a couple weeks ago where something similar happened. Sharks don't fight like other fish they take longer to get tired and you can get them all the way up and then they'll dive right back down.

thank you sooooo much- not all heroes wear capes haha
DJ Fox Lol, you just made my terrible day alittle better, :)
+Mr.Tumbleweed I fucking love you, man
I think you need a bigger boat...
Jackie Huffstutlar why?
TheSlightlyHomosexualFeminist referring to jaws...
+TheSlightlyHomosexualFeminist It was a line from the movie JAWS!!! "I think we're going to need a bigger boat". Classic
thomascampr ahh haha went over my head lol

I have done that too
lmao yes have done that too and gotten in trouble from mom and accused of lying and just wanting to wander off lol!

zoffinger I'm confused. how come you didn't just sink to the bottom with those massive balls of steel???
Lol good one
Hahaha nice
Too bad he copied it off someone else's comment.

All hunters are cunts
I hope you don't let the remarks of some of these folks discourage you. This was one of the most well done kayak fishing I've I've seen.

Ha! The "Jaws" Captain Quint reference at 3:31 was awesome!
Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that the manatee is following him to protect him? you hear about dolphins doing that all the time. Awesome video man
I wondered that too, Gunnar. Interesting thought.
Syrupsipper nope he was waiting for the perfect moment to flip the kayak. lol
Gunnar Frantzich lol
Monofilament leader for shark? I would use wire. I'd like to recover the hook.
The manatee was staying under your Kayak to keep the Shark away from you.....For sure! Great Video
I don't ever subscribe to people's stuff but it did yours! I really love all the camera angles and underwater shots. I really like your choice of music too. Normally people put on acid rock at 500 decibels and ruin the video.
what time in the video can I actually see a shark !?
8:10
+JosephZoellinMoto 8:10 no shark... unless your talking about the barely discernable blob underwater
+branon mitchell there is a shark look closely

Just recently subscribed to your channel and I am already one of your biggest fans. Thanks for the ride.
I saw those crocs you were wearing.....

methodman247 not funny 😐
Just stumbled across your channel a few mouths ago . Enjoying the fishing!
wake me when part 2 begins.....................
Awesome, wish I could afford that Hobie. It looks so stable. Another great video. Thanks
That manatee was spooky. Wonder if the fins of your boat attracted him?
Love the music and the cast of characters! The Shark, the manatee and good ol captain Quint! What an adventure that was!
A kayak + a shark = NOPE!!
Why not ? Done it tens of times it’s a lot of fun
Omg. Yasssss. The jaws moment. Yassss. Jaws is one of my favorite movies
Moments*. Am I the only one that recognized the quoting immediately?
Nice catch! "He's a twenty footer!"...."twenteee fiiive...and three tons of 'em'! "
i always find your videos so relaxing to watch.
You can actually see it at 15:00
I think I missed it...I did.

Fun vid mate. That manity was really interested to see who whould win too. :)

Kay Nicole you nailed it. I would like to recover the hook.
Kay Nicole marry me.
@Mary Chris Your name is Mary and you have a pole- hm.. somethings not right.

Exactly. Like at 14:50 Another thing he said, "Quite frankly, I don't know what I'm going to do when this this thing's next to the boat anyways."
Yeah, this is a bit dumb. Not dumb like, “this guy is crazy, wow”. More dumb like “blah blah blah”.

Whew this worked my nerves with you standing up in that thing with the shark omg :0 You have some nerve, my friend!
maybe a bigger boat next time. u remember jaws right?
Jaws isn't real although there are some pretty big sharks
BRYCE FALK DEF Mythic SoaR But jaws was inspired by a big shark attack in about 1916.
robert jaws is based on something that happened in Matawan New Jersey in like 1916 or something like that
Anthony Rutigliano yes but it wasn't a great white it actually took place in a fresh water river and it was a bull shark attack that inspired the book
robert it happened in Cheesequake Creek where I fished many times it is brackish water and I think it was a great white shark look it up it's called the Matawan Maneater
Awesome that you refer to using what your viewers taught you! Pretty sweet job man!
Ever seen a shark's eyes, chief? No, ya haven't cuz ya cinched down on the drag!
Mono Nonny LMAO
zoffinger lol that's pretty funny. Thanks for the video man. good times
+soflo23 no they have beautiful blue eyes
it was the decision to not use wire leader that made him loose the fish not the drag. Idk what poll he had but if you know anything about spinning reelz they only have 25 max lbs of drag and that was 80 lbs leader. nice try
max drag 17 lbs

Where are you exactly? Amazing....thank you for posting this video!!!!!
you now have a pet manatee
Ahoy again! I see these vids are quite a few years old. Do you have any newer vids, ie, boat updates, fishing, etc. ?
im in it for the manatee
cool vid! great action! lots of life out there, im always amazed to see guys fishing in the raritan bay in kayaks i always thought i was the little guy out there in my 18ft aluminum bass boat ha ha not anymore. BTW love the hat
"i'm not your mom, manatee!" hahaha
"I'm not your mom" Hahaha! Best line in the whole video. Truly cool video man!
Brave man I'd be worried the yak be hit by a great white
That boat is so cool! I love that you can move it with your feet!
Now you see why the manatees always get chopped up by boat propellers. They are so curious.
Damn. I was excited to see what the next step was. Good fight though. I kayak fish for flatheads up her in WV. There'll take you for a good ride, I couldn't imagine a large shark :)
Whers the shark ???
Just subscribed man. Awesome footage.. Your living the dream. Just be careful out there in the kayak. i saw that one of your kayaks has some kind of out riggers. That's tight. That pedal one is pretty sweet also.
the shark swamp passes the manatee so fast it was spooked and looked for shelter near you bud .....;-) i think another great videos zof
Gave this vid a like the second i saw that Quint quote. Love it. Keep up the good work!
If you want to go after sharks, you need a steel leader.... a long one.

First of all he was hunting Tarpon, second of all who do you think you are questioning him with his experience, and third of all people do if all thhe time.
alex music agree
Rip’n lips CTT "Stable Kayak" in open deep ocean baiting big ass sharks, is an oxymoron.
@@alecc.lambert2352 wah wah wah.. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE wah wah wahhh.
THAT was a great video. Great lesson. It was also amazing that you have the audience at the same time with that manatee.
8:50 manatee cameo
Magic. What an amzing video? Thanks for uploading.
"DEEEERRRR let's look for SHARKS in a small as fuck KAYAK DEEEERRR"
It's so much more fun in a kayak though xD
Awesome!!! I hope to make a trip down to your area soon, rent some yacks, catch some fish and drink some beers! This is a great video, you have come a long way. Congratulations

Ha, manatee is just kinda like "hey, what's up lol."
Epic battle from the yak dude! Just subbed
I thought it was cool when he threw in the Jaws quotes
I LOVED when you said " As if we weren't sick enough!". True, very true.
Think that sea cow wanted to make love to your boat...They have bad eye sight.
Black tip shark, one of few sharks that are good eats! Nice line pull.
you should get a bigger boat. this is unsafe to fish with kayak. you are crazy.
YOU'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT...
that's what I was thinking...
your gonna need a bigger boat!
Gotten bigger in smaller he is fine
Not crazy. Just uneducated n ignorant
That's some pretty cool stuff there buddy. I can only imagine hooking something that big in my kayak. I'm taking it to NC soon so who knows. You make some great vids brother..
Why Would You Do This in A Kayak?
I like the music you used fir this film. What is it and where did you get it?
what a bunch of clowns hatin on him.
good fight fearless and insane love every bit of it.
fish on!!!!
YOUR SHIRT IN THIS VIDEO SAYS IT ALL!!!.... ;) NICE CATCH BROTHER!
his gonna need a bigger boat
Good job hope you catch even bigger fish in the future and thanks cause your fishing helped me alot to thanks man.
When someone dies in a situation like this everybody sad and totally forget how stupid that person is
Or dang I wish I could get that custom boat after a Prayer for the deceased & family.
Caught a black tip a couple weeks ago where something similar happened. Sharks don't fight like other fish they take longer to get tired and you can get them all the way up and then they'll dive right back down.
The funniest part is removing the hook from its mouth.
Talk about multi-tasking!!!
Impressive stuff man
The manatee is trying to protect u..
hey. are you fishing near fort desoto? i plan on going there in august. it looks like fun. great camera work and editing. i like the new kayak.
smart -.- in a kayak trying to catch something big with nobody else on the water...
pokecrafter88 i see what ya saying but even if he fell in right next to the shark i dought the most the shark would do is run
evan dexy even if it didnt if he was worried and thrashed around in the water i couldve attracted another before he got back on the boat
evan dexy sharks can't run :-)

He was not alone u can hear the cam man say something
great video.... new to area, i am hooked on this game, see ya out there soon, peace!
No life jacket, on the Ocean, in a Kayak fishing for shark, this dude has a death wish....lol
Two questions:
1. What happens to the hook and the extra line left over when the shark, or any fish, breaks your line?
2. If you were able to reel him in close, how would you 'release' him?
Depending on the hooks material, it'll either rust and degrade in its mouth, or eventually fall out with growth. The line..just a lost cause.
