The story these guys have put together through their discography is truly incredible. It goes a step further than a concept album, and is literally a concept career. Its a shame that some people see their outfits and write off the music. Really great songwriting and catchy tunes
Tobias was specially selected by the movie company to write the end credit song for Halloween Kills. They attended the L.A Forum show and invited him afterwards to a meeting. Tobias wrote this song together with Max Grahn. Oscar nominated last year for Husavik, the main theme for Will Ferrell movie Eurovision. It was supposed to be released Halloween 2020 together with the movie but was postponed to 2021 because of Corona.
You need to go down the rabbit hole of ghost lore. From meeting Sister Imperator during Dance Macabre, becoming Papa Nihil, forming the band and releasing 7inch of Satanic panic EP, having sons becoming Papa 1,2,3, during different albums, to see Imperator having them all killed to instate Cardinal Copia as the new singer, realizing he is her and Papa Nihil’s bastard son, Nihil dying and Copia becoming Papa 4.

The video is about a boy who died apparently in a lake, and he was brought back to life by Papa Emeritus and he really wanted to be with his friend. Then she was able to see him and play with him, her mom couldn't see it but she was experiencing some weird stuffs, apparently she realized that the dead guy wasn't leaving anytime soon so she was learning how to live with it. It makes sense at the end of the video when they rewind everything back. At the end of the video when Papa Emeritus appears he look at himself in the mirror and idk if you noticed but he had Jason's face mask in front of him, then he went to play a movie and it's an small part of the new Halloween Kills movie. Ghost plays this song at the end of the movie.
This song is going to be in the Halloween kills soundtrack. so the end there was papa standing by Michael Myers mask then he went over and started footage from the movies. the rest of the video not sure.
Ghost lore is a very funny but very intriguing concept. You should definitely look into it. There's a TH-cam video that goes into it and it's not that long of that interests you. His name is Papa on stage and in real life his name is Tobias lol
This is a tie-in with the new Halloween movie - I've heard that it supposed to run over the end credits. As many "movie" songs are - its immediate, and poppy. Its a great track, and its nice to hear from them again. Rats would be a good choice for something catchy and a little harder hitting. Cirice is a great track (and video) to check out (and won them a Grammy in 2015).
And btw! Dont know if you know this, but the vocalist, Tobias, IS ghost. He is the creator of all the melodies etc. the rest of the band is just there with him for the live shows!
Hey man I love this song and this reaction! If you're liking ghost so far, check out some of their old stuff like songs off Opus Eponymous or Infestissumam. They have a completely different feel than the newer ghost songs you've listened too like square hammer and dance macabre. They had a very.. sinister and eerie sound in their earlier days and it's completely awesome especially live. Some songs off Opus that are worth checking out: Con Clavi Con Dio, Ritual, Elizabeth, Death Knell. Some Infestissumam songs worth checking out: Infestissumam, Per Aspera Ad Inferi, Secular Haze, Jigolo Har Megiddo, Ghuleh / Zomie Queen, Monstrance Clock, Year Zero!
I love Ghost. Been a fan for few years. For me... I gotta listen few times but the songs always suck me in. They put on a great show live btw. Definitely recommend seeing them next year if you can. Volbeat is with them who are one of my favorite bands.
