I have a Dutch bunny who had an abscess on her cheek. SURGERY WAS DONE and within after everything was healed up her eye (same side) started to have a white discharge. Eye drops and oral antibiotics given to unclog the tear duct, no luck, it was clogged good. Abscess then developed under her eye. The xray showed no bad teeth or roots. Opening up the same area just seemed horrible considering she just had it done. Days ago I was crying my eyes out due to I was explained that the only thing left to do was make her as comfortable as possible until it was time because the abscess was larger and the duct was extremely clogged and just getting worse. I then decided to try just taking a syringe with warm water and flush the area to get her hair unmatted. I don't know exactly what happened but an hour later her eye was oozing like crazy (it looks like and is sticky like Elmer's glue), it hasn't stopped oozing and the actual abscess lump is gone. I have been using warm water in a syringe to clean it twice a day. And it looks just like what you show in your video. I'm plan to take her to the vet so they can see that the actual abscess has gone down and discuss methods for keeping it clean and safe.

Distilled water was Not an option. With the amount of daily pus and sticky stuff I Had to wash it for 2 - 3 minutes with WARM running water and brush at the same time. I didn't have an option in this situation - if I didn't clean it then his eye would get all gooed up and stick together and the fur would matt up and then fall off. Also the warm water broke up the puss like matter and made it easier to clean.

Why don't you try to solve the issue of the abscess instead of doing this everyday? Congrats for doing it though :)

Zwouldnt all that hard water irritate and dry the bunnies eye out? Maybe a gentle flush with distilled water would be less aggressive?

I thank You for sharing this video because I'm going through the same thing with my rabbit. I put him on antibiotics, which doesn't seem like it's helping. I've cleaned it with eye solution, which seemed to have helped, but I only did it a few times. I'm hoping that My rabbit allows me to wash it out like this, but I'm sure he'll fight me. any advice?

I'm very curious, because my rabbit has something white in his eye and it doesnt seem to be very normal. Maybe it could be something similar to Wolf's eye but not as much, or maybe it is similar but my rabbit's eye hasn't yet found a way to get it out.

Did a vet actually instruct you to do this? I can't imagine this is recommended. Looks like the eye just needs removed. Then you wouldn't have to put the poor bunny thru this.

Hmmmm, Dermoid cyst's can produce hair as well as teeth, I wonder if that is what you are battling. A possible abscessing Dermoid cyst that is not capsulized and not healing.
